WSL Athletics Week 4 Review/Week 5 Preview “Coalinga breaks through for 1st win”

Avenal has been looking for the past four weeks for ways to turnaround and get their first win but with an intimitading schedule it’s easier said than done. Avenal went through another loss last week at the hands of the Cowboys of Riverdale 28-0 and will now turn their attention towards the Orosi Cardinals Friday Night as it’s they close non-league play and will enter their bye week before opening league on the road at Coalinga on the 28th.

Coalinga went through close losses, blowouts and now they finally went through their first win. Coalinga became the 2nd WSL to earn it’s first win of 2018 on the road at Taft last week 34-21, They will now use the momentum and will look to continue to play “old school smashmouth Coalinga football” as they hope to end non-league play with a win at home against Sierra Pacific out of Hanford before entering their bye week and Hosting Avenal to open WSL Play on the 28th.

Dos Palos is back from their bye week which was hopefully the thing they needed to get them their first win of the year. The Broncos of Dos Palos will travel to Chowchilla to face off against The Tribe and break the win column on Friday Night as they will cap off Non-league play at McLane next week before hosting the Aztecs of Mendota on the 28th to open WSL Play.

Firebaugh are looking to redeem after a tough loss against defending division 5 champions Caruthers 27-7 and goes 3-0 against the Eagles. Firebaugh will make their longest road trip to Sierra to face off against The Chieftains before they enter their bye week before opening the WSL season on the 28th by hosting The Tranquillity Tigers.

Mendota Aztecs are living through deja vu as they enter their bye week with an 0-4 record just as they did at this time in 2017. They have the rest of this week and next as they get ready to take on The Immanuel Eagles before opening WSL Play with the Cross County Rivalry at Dos Palos on the 28th.

Tranquillity Tigers are also on their bye week as they look to recover from their 54-7 loss to Minarets and will use the rest of this week and next to prep for Sierra before making the road trip down the 33 to open WSL Play at Firebaugh on the 28th.
