LATEST IN HIGH SCHOOL COACHING NEWS

**STOCKDALE MUSTANGS Head Coach BRETT SHELTON will not be back in 2023. Brett graduated from Stockdale in 2004 and started coaching in 2017. Coach did a great job but with kids transferring out, it is making the Mustangs a tough job.

**SIERRA PACIFIC GOLDEN BEARS Head Coach DION TATE will not be back in 2023. Dion started in 2018 and was an assistant for 20 years. Dion is an outstanding Coach and SP is a tough place to coach especially with Hanford and Hanford West close by.

**FOOTHILL TROJANS Head Coach BRANDON DECKARD will not be back in 2023. In 2021 the Trojans went 9-2 and won the SEYL Championship for the first time since 1981. This year the Trojans were very young and if Coach was forced out, that would be so wrong.

**MONACHE MARAUDERS Head Coach SHANE FOCKE is stepping down. Shane has been the HC at Monache since 2019 and the freshmen coach before that. It hasn’t been easy working with PUSD especially when PUSD panicked and shut sports down when the world ended because of the overrated flu. The football program was really hurt when they shut sports down. The Marauders will be in search of a new Head Coach.

**RIGHETTI HIGH WARRIORS Head Coach TONY PAYNE is stepping down. TP Coached 5 years at Righetti High where he graduated and is a former Fresno State Bulldog player. The Warriors won the Division 5 Section Championship last year. The Warriors will be in search of a new Head Coach.

**YOSEMITE BADGERS Head Coach JOSH WISNIOWSKI is stepping down and who can blame him. Until the Yosemite administration changes or wants to start supporting sports again, Yosemite will continue to be a shit show and soon might not even have a football program. We all remember when Yosemite was a GREAT football tradition and it’s amazing how one administration can crush years of history in a short time. Who the heck will want this job!! It is completely a miserable place from top to bottom. The bad news for Yosemite football is Minarets has a tremendous youth football program right down the hill and parents are very smart in today’s world and parents don’t put up with bullshit for long and will transfer out. My guess is Yosemite will hire within but whoever takes over, for the love of God, PLEASE SUPPORT HIM!

STATE CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYOFF NOTES;
There is a chance of rain at all the games so that will favor some of the running teams especially Orland and San Gabriel who both hate throwing the football.
Best of luck to the LIBERTY PATRIOTS, SHAFTER GENERALS and ATASCADERO GREYHOUNDS!

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS FINAL SCORES
DIVISION 1-AA LINCOLN HORNETS (San Diego) 13-1 vs DE LA SALLE SPARTANS (Concord) 10-4
PAGMETER LINE HORNETS -7
THE PAG FACTOR; Can the Spartans slow down a future Georgia Bulldog RB Roderick Robinson?
PAGMETER PREDICTION HORNETS 35 SPARTANS 28
FINAL HORNETS 33 SPARTANS 28 (Almost nailed the score)
RB Roderick Robinson rushed for 218 yards and scored 4 TDs

DIVISION 2-AA MATER DEI CRUSADERS (Chula Vista) 11-4 vs MCCLYMONDS WARRIORS (Oakland) (12-2)
PAGMETER LINE CRUSADERS- 5
PAG METER FACTOR; It’s the outstanding Warriors offense vs the outstanding Crusaders defense. Defense wins championships. The Drive for Mater Dei is much closer than McClymonds. Huge factor.
PAGMETER PREDICTION CRUSADERS 27 WARRIORS 22
FINAL CRUSADERS 26 WARRIORS 18
It’s back to back State Championships for Mater Dei. With the score 20-18 Warriors with 7:46 to go, Rollin George hit Surahz Buncom on a 51 yard TD pass and the game winner.

SATURDAY STATE CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL SCORES

THE RAIN WAS HORRIBLE AND SOME GRASS FIELDS WERE UN-PLAYABLE! IF WE ARE GOING TO HAVE STATE PLAYOFFS EITHER PLAY THEM ON A HOME SYNTHETIC/ARTIFICIAL TURF STADIUM OR AT A NEUTRAL STADIUM WITH SYNTHETIC/ARTIFICIAL TURF SITE. DUH!!!!

DIVISION 1–A
PITTSBURG PIRATES (12-3) vs LIBERTY PATRIOTS (13-2)

PAGMETER LINE PATRIOTS -7
The Pirates beat Manteca 35-14. QB Jaden Rashada scored 2 TDs and threw a TD pass.
The Patriots beat Yorba Linda 41-28. The Patriots turned it on in the 2nd half after trailing 28-14 at the half. Jalen Hankins scored on an 8 yard TD run & Cole Nixon hit Xander Chisolm on a 32 yard TD pass to tie it up with 8:29 to go in the game. Hankins scored the game winner with a 12 yard TD run and Mehki Delouth scored the insurance TD. Jalen Hankins and Mekhi Delouth combined for 350 rushing yards and 3 TDs.
THE PAG FACTOR; last year in the state playoffs the Patriots crushed the Pirates 35-7.
Can the Patriots slow down 4-star rated QB Rashada who is a dangerous dual threat? Rashada had 32 college offers and flipped from Miami to Florida.
The Patriots will need to get off to a better start this week because the Patriots are so good in the 2nd half to be state Champions. If the game is close at the Half, the Pirates could be in trouble. Last year the Patriots defense stuffed Rashada and the Pirates offense. The Pirates are much better this year especially with sophomore running back Elijah Bow who is very good. Patriots starting QB Cole O’Brien will be back this week.
PAGMETER PREDICTION PATRIOTS 31 PIRATES 24

FINAL PATRIOTS 48 PIRATES 20

Kresean Kizzy with a Hat-trick/2 INTs. Returned a 96 yard kickoff for a TD, had a pick-6 for a TD and caught an 85-yard TD pass from Cole O’Brien. Jalen Hankins scored on a 10 yard run & Mehki Delouth scored on a 12 yard run. O’Brien scored a TD and threw 3 TD passes, Xander Chisolm caught 2 TD passes. The Patriots are back to back Central Section Champions & now State Champions.

DIVISION 2-A GRANITE HILLS EAGLES 13-2 (El Cajon) vs SAN RAMON VALLEY WOLVES 12-3 (Danville)
PAGMETER LINE WOLVES -7
THE PAG FACTOR; will be the Wolves defense because the O can score. This will be the best defense that the Wolves will have played all year. If the Eagles can finish drives with points, they can beat the favored Wolves. This could come down to the final minutes.
PAG METER PREDICTION MINI UPSET SPECIAL EAGLES 35 WOLVES 31

FINAL EAGLES 31 WOLVES 24 OVERTIME

DIVISION 3-A LAGUNA HILLS HAWKS (15-1) at BELLARMINE BELLS San Jose (8-7)
PAGMETER LINE BELLS -7
THE PAG FACTOR; this is a tough call. The Bells have played a tougher schedule and have the edge but the Hawks know how to win.
PAGMETER PREDICTION BELLS 35 HAWKS 28

FINAL HAWKS 28 BELLS 27

DIVISION 3-AA SAN JACINTO TIGERS (13-3) at GRANT PACERS Sacramento (12-2)
PAGMETER LINE PACERS -3
THE PAG FACTOR; Both offenses can light up the scoreboard and be very explosive so which defense can make the big stops when needed? This has the makings to be a high scoring game with both teams having tremendous senior Quarterbacks who love to throw the football.
The Tigers will have Dereun Dortch who has thrown for 3,261 yards and 43 TD passes and the Pacers will have Joseph McCray with 3,796 yards and 48 TD passes.
PAGMETER PREDICTION PACERS 45 TIGERS 38

FINAL PACERS 36 TIGERS 34

DIVISION 4-A GRANADA HILLS CHARTER HIGHLANDERS (12-3) at SAN MARIN MUSTANGS (13-2) (Novato)
PAGMETER LINE MUSTANGS -5
THE PAG FACTOR; Both teams love to pound the football so which defense can win the line of scrimmage? This game is so even and it could come down to the final play, late field goal or turnover to decide who will be the state champion. The Highlanders are the younger team.
PAGMETER PREDICTION MUSTANGS 37 HIGHLANDERS 31

FINAL MUSTANGS 32 HIGHLANDERS 8

DIVISION 4-AA NORTHWOOD T WOLVES (14-2) (Irvine) at ESCALON COUGARS (13-3)
PAGMETER LINE COUGARS-3
THE PAG FACTOR; The T Wolves offense needs to score points this week to finish their magical season. This should be a very good game.
PAGMETER PREDICTION COUGARS 30 T WOLVES 28

FINAL COUGARS 28 WOLVES 7

DIVISION 5-A

SHAFTER GENERALS (11-5) at ORLAND TROJANS (15-0)
PAGMETER LINE TROJANS -6
The young Generals beat the Walnut Mustangs 20-16. Shocker the Generals got down again in another playoff game and at Walnut they trailed 10-0 before coming back to win on the road. Chris Espinoza scored 2 TDs, and Ernesto Guerrero nailed 2 field goals & 2 PATs. Freshman Mariyon Sloan led all receivers with 6 catches for 118 yards and Freshman QB Ezekiel Osborne threw for 241 yards on 23 completions.
The Trojans beat Clear Lake 42-21. The Trojans rushed for 413 yards.
THE PAG FACTOR; Can the Generals defense slow down an offense who hates to throw the ball? The Trojans are hoping for rain because they will pound it with an old fashioned style of football that will run it right at the Generals. THEY SURE GOT RAIN. The Trojans are undefeated because they haven’t faced a defense that can match up with their running attack. When you don’t have to throw the ball, that tells you the defenses that they are playing are either not very good or the Trojans are that good so don’t tingle on the 14-0 record! I’m thinking it’s a little of both. The Generals have to get in the Trojans backfield with a physical defense and disrupt the running attack.
The Generals defense will need to slow down QB Grant Foster, who became Orland’s all-time leading rusher with 1,869 rushing yards & and has scored 30 TDs on the year. RB Jaime Albarran has rushed for 1,285 yards and has scored 15 TDs.
The Generals, which are now known as the Cardiac Kids, would be in trouble if the Trojans were let’s say 10-4 instead of 14-0 because the Cardiac kids get even more excited playing another great team.
A note to the Generals team, Liberty Madera would crush Orland and you beat the undefeated Hawks with 7 turnovers. The Generals defense needs to come in with a kick-ass attitude and win the line of scrimmage battle and get the Trojans in plenty of 3rd and long situations. The Trojans kryptonite is throwing the football over hand.
For the Generals to win again on the road and finish one of the greatest storied years in valley history, QB Osborne and the offense must play their game and stay calm, finish drives with points and can’t turn the ball over. The Trojans game plan will be to control the clock and slow the game down with long ugly drives. The Cardiac kids can’t afford to be punting back to an offense that will pound it all night long. The Generals will have to go it on some 4th down plays..
The Trojans will be tough to beat if they have the lead because the Generals offense will be standing on the sidelines plenty. The Trojans offense is not made to come back if they are trailing especially late in the game.
PAGMETER PREDICTION GENERALS 31 TROJANS 28

FINAL TROJANS 20 GENERALS 7

It was a horrible field to play on and the Generals never had a chance

DIVISION 5-AA JOHN MUIR MUSTANGS (9-6) (Pasadena) at HUGHSON HUSKIES (12-2)
PAGMETER LINE HUGHSON -3
THE PAG FACTOR ; This is the outstanding Mustangs offense vs the outstanding Huskies defense. This is a great matchup and a tough call. This could be a very close game.
PAGMETER PREDICTION HUSKIES 23 MUSTANGS 21

FINAL HUSKIES 9 MUSTANGS 6

DIVISION 6–A

SAN GABRIEL MATADORS (11-4) at ATASCADERO GREYHOUNDS (11-4)
PAGMETER LINE GREYHOUNDS -10
The Matadors beat Kennedy from Granada Hills 46-34. QB Jacob Muniz threw 2 TD passes and scored 2 TDs.
The Greyhounds beat Colusa 21-0. The Hounds defense played outstanding. Trey Cooks rushed for 143 yards and scored 3 TDs.
THE PAG FACTOR; there is a chance of rain and the Hounds field is already one of the worst playing fields to play on in the state. To the Matador players, double-tape your ankles!
Can the Hounds defense slow down the Matadors running attack who hates to throw the ball?
Can the Matadors slow down the Cooks brothers?
Junior QB Kane Cooks is a dual threat who has thrown for 1,440 yards, 14 TD passes and rushed for 1,014 yards and scored 16 TDs. Big brother Trey has rushed for 1,743 yards and has scored 18 TDs.
PAGMETER PREDICTION GREYHOUNDS 35 MATADORS 24

FINAL GREYHOUNDS 41 MATADORS 0

DIVISION 6-AA SANTA TERESA SAINTS (9-6) (San Jose) at CLASSICAL ACADEMY CAIMANS (12-3) (Escondido)
PAGMETER LINE SAINTS -3
THE PAG FACTOR; The Caimans have the advantage at home. This game is a tough call.
PAGMETER PREDICTION SAINTS 24 CAIMANS 23

FINAL CAIMANS 7 SAINTS 0

DIVISION 7-A CRENSHAW COUGARS (8-7) at LINCOLN MUSTANGS (9-3) (San Francisco)
PAGMETER LINE MUSTANGS -28
THE PAG FACTOR; We got some ringers in this division and the big question will be can the Cougars match up with the physical Mustangs? It’s a long drive for the Cougars.
PAGMETER PREDICTION MUSTANGS 42 COUGARS 14

FINAL MUSTANGS 54 MUSTANGS 6

STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
ST JOHN BOSCO BRAVES (13-1) vs SERRA PADRES (13-1)

PAGMETER LINE BRAVES -21
THE PAG FACTOR: The Braves have played the much tougher schedule. This is a battle of two private professional high schools but the Braves have recruited much better than the Padres.
PAGMETER PREDICTION BRAVES 42 PADRES 21

FINAL BRAVES 45 PADRES 0
