WSL ATHLETICS WEEK 6 REVIEW & WEEK 7 PREVIEW 2022

WSL Athletics Week 6 Review and Week 7: Broncos and Tigers Prevail, Aztecs Struggle in loss.

It’s WSL Kickoff Weekend and after an interesting preseason with Avenal coming out on top, The Second Half should be even more competitive and intriguing.

Tranquillity were looking forward to coming back home after a difficult loss in OT to Sierra in one of their highest scoring games so far this season. The Tigers hosted the Minarets Mustangs and well The Tigers got on the board and ran away only allowing a single touchdown enroute to a 26-7 win for their first of the year. They will host rivals Mendota Friday Night in another edition of “The Old School Rivalry aka The League’s Most Hated Rivalry” as part of WSL Kickoff Weekend.

Dos Palos also came back after a bye week and loss the previous week as they got ready to host The Chowchilla Tribe and well all those weeks of improvements paid off and some changes in their system helped lead them to their highest margin of victory as well as their first victory overpowering The Tribe of Chowchilla 42-7 as now they turn their sights on hosting league leaders Avenal Friday Night at Ike Franklin Field at Bill Hume Stadium all part of WSL Kickoff Weekend.

Mendota were looking forward to continue to build momentum as part of a two game win streak as they traveled to Immanuel Sports Complex to take on The Immanuel Eagles who were facing their 2nd WSL team as they played against Firebaugh and lost in a close one. Well lighting wasn’t going to strike the Eagles of Immanuel twice as they had key players return from injuries as well as transfer players becoming eligible after the 30 day waiting period and that’s all Immanuel needed as they empathically snapped Mendota’s win streak 28-7 with Immanuel’s Will “The Thrill” Henderson leading the charge with 4 touchdowns. The Aztecs will look to shake it off as they travel to longtime bitter rival Tranquillity in “The Old School Rivalry aka The League’s Most Hated Rivalry” Friday Night from Tigers Field at Tony Barajas Stadium.

Coalinga, Avenal and Firebaugh all had byes. Coalinga hosts Firebaugh, Avenal travels to Merced County to take on The Broncos of DP.

The Hunt for The WSL Title kicks off this weekend…For Whom Will The Bell Toll For at the end of it all?

The Fresno State Bulldogs are on the road to take on the UCONN Huskies without QB Jake Haener and other key members of the team who suffered injuries against USC which means Logan Fife will start under center with Jaylen Henderson playing as backup. Go Dogs! Beat The Huskies!
