Basketball 🏀 news

There will be an Open Division playoff bracket this year and the 4 best teams will play in it. The 4 Open Division teams will also be guaranteed a spot in the southern section regional state playoffs. Every Central Section division winner will get to play in the Southern Section Regional state playoffs.

THERE WILL BE NO SELLAND ARENA THIS YEAR. TOP SEED WILL GET THE HOME PLAYOFF GAME ALL THE WAY TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.

PAG METER DIVISION 1 BASKETBALL FINAL RANKINGS

No 1 St Joseph Knights (27-3) (10-0 MOUNTAIN CHAMPIONS) CENTRAL SECTION CHAMPIONS
The Knights return almost everybody from last year including the starting 5 with seniors Anyel Ortiz, Steven Vasquez (has scored over 1000 career points), Sam Bazunga, Jincho Rivera, junior Dre Roman and sophomore Luis Marin.

No 2 Memorial Panthers (23-3) (10-0 CMAC CHAMPIONS)
The Defending Central Section Champions come into 2021 as the team to beat. One of the top players in the country is junior Joseph Hunter. The Panthers will be real good with Junior TJ Hall, seniors Jaden Geron, Jalen Douglas and James Prescott. A star is born with sophomore Mike Davis Jr.

No 3 Clovis West Golden Eagles (20-5) (10-0 TRAC CHAMPIONS)
Senior Cole Anderson is already the all-time central section 3-point shooting king making almost 400. Cole is also the leading scorer in Clovis West history and maybe the TRAC all-time leading scorer? Stay tuned on that.  Seniors Preston Kilbert and Ryas Vang will be the senior leaders. A star is born with sophomore Issac Martinez, New transfer from Fresno Christian junior Tyus Parrish-Tillman will miss the year with a knee injury.

No 4 Clovis North Broncos (18-6) (8-2 TRAC)
One of the top players in the state is 6’6 Ak Okereke. Leading the way will be senior Toby Miller. Guard Nico Jones can really shoot it. Keep an eye on sophomore Jaylen Bryant and a star is born with freshman Conner Amundsen.

No 5 Bullard Knights (15-9) (7-3 CMAC) DIVISION 1 SECTION CHAMPIONS
The Knights will get better and better. Seniors Omarion Thomas Marshall and Shawn Packard lead the Knights. The Knights have a couple of outstanding juniors with Tyric Herod and Lejuan Watts. And keep an eye on sophomore Mark Williams.

No 6 Central Grizzlies (12-7) (5-5 TRAC)
If there is a sleeper team with plenty of talent then it must be the Grizzlies. Leading the way will be juniors Marquise Greene, Terik Streets, Marcus Greene, & sophomore Cedric Coward.

No 7 Arroyo Grande Eagles (11-6) (7-3 MOUNTAIN) 
The Eagles head coach Ryan Glanville now with over 300 wins

No 8 Edison Tigers (7-9) (5-5 CMAC)
Stay tuned on the Tigers

No 9 Liberty Patriots (8-2) (0-0 SWYL)
Very young and off to a great start. Leading the way is senior Brock Batte

No 10 Clovis East T Wolves (7-10) (4-6 TRAC)
Leading the way for the defending division 1 champions will be seniors Trevor Vertiz, Sean Kelly and junior Camden Thompson.

No 11 Buchanan Bears (4-10) (2-8 TRAC)
The Bears will be young and leading the way will be sophomore Arman Rai.

No 12 Mission Prep Royals (6-11) (3-7 MOUNTAIN)
Leading the Royals will be seniors Zac Hatch and Mark Rodriguez. 

No 13 Clovis Cougars (3-14) (1-8 TRAC)
The Cougars will be a young team

No 14 Bakersfield Drillers (2-3) (0-2 SWYL) Will not play in the Playoffs
The Drillers will have a young team

No 15 Stockdale Mustangs (0-2) (0-0 SWYL) Will not play in the Playoffs
