The Dogs Are Back

The Dogs Are Back
The Fresno State Bulldogs are back and are ready to kickoff the 2020 football season. Initially, the Dogs were planning on playing this season in spring of 2021 after an indefinite postponement announced on August 10th by the Mountain West Division. To everyone’s surprise on September 24 Mountain West decided to have a 8 game regular season. Each player will get tested 3 times a week to ensure player and coach safety.
The Dogs will open up the season with no fans against the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors. Last time the Dogs played the Rainbow Warriors the Fresno State Bulldogs came out with a 41-38 win after Cesar Silva kicked a 37 yard game winning field goal.
Keys to the Game
The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors are coming off a 10-4 season and a bowl victory. But this time the Rainbow Warriors will have a new head coach and new QB under Center after Nick Rolovich left to take the coaching job at Washington State and QB Cole Mcdonald graduated. Hawaii now has a new man in charge in Todd Graham and a new man under center, Chevan Cordeiro. If Rainbow Warriors want to start the season 1-0 they are going to have to attack the secondary of Fresno State. The dogs have some new pieces on defense and haven’t had a lot of time to practice together. Hawaii is also going to have to control the line of scrimmage with most of their starting linemen coming back from last season. Another key for Hawaii is controlling the time of possession with Rainbow Warriors can keep the Dogs offense off the field. If Hawaii can implement these keys into their gameplan, they’ll be in a great position to win the game.
The Kalen DeBoer era begins today at Bulldogs Stadium. The Bulldogs look to turn the page to 2020 after last season’s underachieving season after finishing 4-8. The Dogs will have a new QB under center in Jake Haener the Transfer QB from Washington university. Jake will be making his first college start today. The Bulldogs were one of the last universities to start practicing but now are ready to go! If the Dogs want to start 1-0 they have to run the ball well with Ronnie Rivers who is ready to start his senior campaign and Jordan Mims back and healthy ready to go. Hawaii was one of the worst teams against the run last season in the Mountain West. We all know Coach DeBor is offensive mastermind so it will be very interesting how he uses Jalen Cropper the speedy WR. Cropper was used with a lot of jet sweeps last season with Coach Tedford. Don’t be surprised if Coach Debor gets Jalen cropper involved very early in this game. But all eyes will be on this Bulldogs Defense going with a 4-2-5 scheme. The Dogs will have some new starters on defense in linebacker Jacob Hollins, CB Bralyn Lux, SS Deonte Perry, DT Alex Dumias, and DE David Perales. If Fresno State is going to come out with a win tonight this Bulldog defense is going to have to take away the passing game and make Hawaii beat them on the ground. If the Dogs can take control of this game early and maintain Hawaii’s passing game this could be a difficult day for the Rainbow Warriors.
Both Teams are starting a new era and both coaches would love to start off 1-0. This game will have a lot of offense and a lot of scoring. Will Todd Graham leave Bulldog Stadium with his first win as Hawaii coach or will the Kalen Debor era get off to a good start and go 1-0? Find out tonight as the game will be live ksee 24 or Espn 940.
