SPECIAL AWARDS

PAG METER CO-TEAM OF THE YEAR

hlbb2019
HIGHLAND SCOTS
The Scots won more games (29-2) than any team in the Central Section. The Scots were strong with pitching, hitting and defense. The Scots were the team to beat in Division 3 from day one and didn’t get much respect in the playoff seedings getting a No 3 seed. The Pag Meter had the Scots the No 1 seed and they took care of business with a great team effort from Top to Bottom. The D3 Section Champions can play with anybody in the section and beat Atascadero 3-0 in the Championship game

CLOVIS COUGARS

ccbbb19
The Cougars played a very tough schedule and it all came together right around Easter. Even though the Cougars didn’t win the Fresno Easter Classic and it’s because they were out of pitching, you just knew they were the team to beat heading into the playoffs. The pitching and offense all came together and it was great to see a team play so well together!
The Cougars are the Central Section Champions for the 9th time in school history and Legend Coach James Patrick goes out a winner!

PAG METER PLAYER OF THE YEAR

DMcc19
DARRIEN MILLER, Senior, Clovis Cougars
The best aggressive hitter in the Central Section and one of the best in the state. They put Darrien in the leadoff spot and the offense took off. Big D came through with so many big hits when the game was on the line. I love watching DM hit because he swings it like a big league hitter. Darrien was the team leader behind the plate and was a big part of the Cougars winning the Central Section. Darrien finished the year hitting .398, with 0 errors behind the plate with a great arm and the next stop he will be playing for the Milwaukee Brewers organization because he was drafted in the 9th round. Darrien is a big time left handed hitter and the Brewers know that!!

PAG METER COACH OF THE YEAR

jp19ccbb
JAMES PATRICK, Clovis Cougars
What a way to finish the greatest High School Coaching career ever by winning the final game!! That is movie stuff in the makings. At the beginning of the year James did what James does, plays a very tough schedule and doesn’t show his hand on what kind of team he has. …..James said ”we are not very good, we can’t hit or pitch”. RIGHT!!
The Cougars got it rolling and James Patrick won his 10th Central Section Championship (9 at Clovis) and finishes as the all time wins leader with 756 wins. That record might never be touched!!!
