WSL Week 2 Review: Firebaugh comes out unscathed

Avenal’s struggles continues as they extended their losing streak to two with this time a blowout loss to the Orange Cove Titans 48-2 after last week falling to the McFarland Cougars 30-6, But what was worst was the the Buccaneers Offense couldn’t even muster up a touchdown as their defense were the only unit to contribute to the scoreboard and have now been outscored 78-8 in only two weeks of the 2018 season.

Coalinga had a close opening week loss last week at Orosi 52-45 and were looking to take out their frustrations on their next opponent…but that opponent turned out to be Defending Division 5 Champs Caruthers and well the Blue Raiders came and flexed their muscles as they took care of Coalinga 43-7 and well now the Horned Toads of Coalinga will have to lick their wounds and get ready to face off against the Cougars of McFarland.

Dos Palos’s theme this season is the “Start Strong, Finish Strong and Execute” well after these past two weeks it should be “Overtime or Bust” as once again they went into overtime but this time with Roosevelt and it went all the way into 5th Overtime where in the end Roosevelt win it 16-13 and last week losing to Rival Los Banos 26-20 in the Westside War which also went to overtime so total they have played technically 10 Quarters of football and only been outscored 42-33.

Firebaugh notches their first win of the season bouncing back after their opening week loss 34-3 at the hands of Liberty-Madera Ranchos as last week they pulled away and beat Fowler 21-7 and will now turn their attention to Roosevelt before a critical matchup and rematch of the Division 5 Valley Championship Game versus Caruthers next week.

Mendota is still looking for answers to their struggles after suffering another loss. But this time at the hands of Liberty-Madera Ranchos, And this time it wasn’t close as last week’s 36-29 loss to McLane as The Hawks came in flying and forced running clock the entire 2nd half as the flew away with the 55-7 win and now will have a their longest road trip of the year 2 hours south as they will face off against Templeton High out of the Ocean League.

Tranquillity extends Shutout streak as they seem to have trouble finding the end zone these past two weeks after they went through another loss at the hands of the McFarland Cougars 52-0 and have now been outscored 99-0 while still looking for their first win and will have to see if they can find it on friday night as they travel to Merced to take on Stone Christian High School.
