Sanger’s Week In Review

Girls golf won the Central Area Championship tournament in Reedley on Monday… Apaches who placed in the top ten were Hannah Steagall, Maddie Berry, Kyana Grunberg, and Eliza Hernandez. The team qualified to play in the Central Section Division II Championships in Porterville this week.
Football had a very interesting week with another win for the freshman team to make them 9-0, a loss for the JV Apaches, and a big comeback win for the varsity team. It was the pink out game in honor of breast cancer awareness, so pink chalk was thrown in the air by the student section during halftime (pictured). At that halfway point in the game, Sanger was losing 13-6. Jalen Cropper ran in for a touchdown during the third quarter which tied the game after the extra point. In the fourth quarter, Orlando Douglas had a rushing touchdown, but Edison quickly came back to tie. With 6 mins left Cropper had a 68 yard run to the end zone, which proved the be the difference in the game… Sanger won 27-20, putting their record at 7-1. Sanger football looks to finish strong as Friday the 27th they play at Madera, then next Friday on November 3rd is senior night, the last regular season game at Tom Flores Stadium.
Girls tennis had a match versus Central on Wednesday as their first playoff matchup.
Girls water polo played against Bullard on Tuesday and won 9-7 in a very competitive game. They honored their graduating class of polo players during that game. They played at Edison on Thursday. Next week they have playoff games.
Boys water polo played at the DeLong Tournament over the weekend in Modesto. On Tuesday Sanger honored their senior athletes while playing Bullard. On Thursday they played at Edison. The JV team plays in a tournament this weekend.
Cross country will compete in the Central Valley Frosh-Soph Championship on November 1st.
Girls volleyball also had senior night on Tuesday and they won against Bullard in 4 sets. Edison hosted the Apaches on Thursday.
