The Fire of League Starts Up And Dinuba Remains Undefeated

October.  A month where it really gets down in almost every sport. Volleyball season is drawing towards an end and so is football.  While we are on the subject, I would like to give the Dinuba volleyball program a huge shout out as they have made playoffs for the first time in a long time.  Most recently they upset a very good CVC volleyball team in 5 sets, and they hope to carry that magic into the postseason!  Congrats ladies!!!!!

Going into this game, Dinuba’s JV football Coach Roland Rico had not lost a game since 2014 against CVC.  With Dinuba now getting into their league games,  the challenges would continue to grow.  The JV team of Dinuba was 6-0 and Selma as well. The game started off with Dinuba getting the ball and scoring in 4 plays, the best the team had done all season.  They once again were able to run the ball and pass it with ease, as HB Josh Meave had over 100 yards rushing and QB Julio Montalvo with over 100 yards passing as well. The first touchdown of the game is a handoff to Josh Meave, then a pass to WR Gabriel Moreno. There was also a huge passing touchdown to HB Devon Mendoza.  Dinuba’s Defense was stable as always, only allowing a garbage time touchdown to Selma as Dinuba won 22-7

Offensive Player of the Week: HB Josh Meave, over a 100 yards rushing and 1 touchdown

Defensive Player of The Week: S Ronnie Rubalcaba, multiple deflections, and 1 forced fumble

It was then time for the Varsity football team to come on the field, looking for vengeance against Selma, who beat them last year and later went on to win a Division 4 Valley Championship.  The game started off with Dinuba getting the ball and turning it over on downs, giving Selma the ball and Selma capitalized scoring first with a run. Dinuba then scored on a rushing touchdown by HB Alek Marroquin.  Dinuba then intercepted the ball (MLB Daniel Long) and went on to score on a 26 yard run by HB Alek Marroquin once again.  Selma then came back on the field and kicked a field goal to make the score 14-10 going into halftime.  Selma then came back out at halftime and had to punt to Dinuba.  Dinuba then once again capitalized, as they scored on a handoff to FB Lucas Tuttle to make it 21-10. After this, it was all Dinuba, as the defense forced two interceptions (one by LB Lucas Tuttle and one by MLB Daniel Long.) Dinuba scores 2 times in the 4th quarter, as Colton Martinez caught a 19 yard TD pass from QB Joshua Magana and a 16-yard rushing touchdown from FB Kenny Villalobos. FINAL SCORE DINUBA 35 SELMA 10.

Offensive Player of the Week: HB Alek Marroquin, 2 rushing touchdowns, and 77 yards rushing.

Defensive Player of The Week: MLB Daniel Long, 2 Interceptions to help hold PAG Meter All-Star Selma QB Jr. Ramirez to below a 100 yards passing.

Dinuba is still undefeated in league and still hopes to be when they travel to Kingsburg this Friday (October 20) at 5 PM for JV and 7 PM for Varsity.  This will be a matchup to watch, as both teams have had a rivalry in the past.  Make sure to come by if you can and watch some good old league football!
