Sanger Sports Week 3

image1 (1)Sanger football had an eventful week, with multiple injuries, a couple overtimes, and a few wins. The freshman team beat Lemoore 36-0. Sanger JV won by a score of 26-20. Varsity had a game that ended as win, 40-38 in double overtime. At halftime, Lemoore was ahead 21-19, with Apache offensive from Jalen Cropper, Blake Wolfe, and Jake Boust so far. The second half consisted of great plays from Sanger’s Orlando Douglas, and a touchdown and successful 2 point conversion from Lemoore in the last minute of the 4th quarter to tie it at 32. Neither team scored in the first overtime. In the 2nd OT, Apache Josiah Lopez helped Sanger to a win after Lemoore scored but were not successful on the two-point conversion attempt to a third overtime. Varsity had a final score of 40-38, Sanger. The freshmen played at Sunnyside on Thursday and JV and Varsity have a bye week. Next Friday the 29th they will be playing at Reedley.
Apache girls water polo did fantastic in the Sierra Shootout in Rocklin last weekend. They got first place, which varsity player Addison Williams says was “super uplifting and exciting because we’ve never won this particular tournament before.” She described how these athletes put in lots of time and energy to their sport, and have been playing together for many years. As a result, the varsity team has great team chemistry, which is a heavily contributing factor to the great season they’re having. They also played Madera on Tuesday and San Joaquin Memorial on Thursday. Next week they’ll play Madera South at home on Tuesday, and travel to Bullard on Thursday.
Boys polo played at Madera on Tuesday. They also had a game against San Joaquin Memorial on Thursday. They play next Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The 26th is home, Wednesday the 27th at Monache, and Thursday the 28th at Bullard.
Cross country did great in their Sanger Invitational on the 15th. They run in the Mt. Whitney Invitational on the 22nd at Mooney Grove. Apaches next cross country meet is Saturday, September 30th, participating in the Brugg Invitational at Atascadero.
Varsity girls volleyball lost at Clovis East on Tuesday. They played Dinuba for Elementary Night on Thursday the 21st.  They will be participating in the Hard Driven Tournament at Clovis North over the weekend. Freshman and JV play in the Madera South Tournament on Saturday. All three teams play at Madera next Tuesday, then home vs San Joaquin Memorial on Thursday, September 28th.
Golf had their first CMAC Tournament on Thursday at Madera, where Hannah ___ and Maddie Berry tied for 2nd individually. They played Madera South on Tuesday and Sanger won 6-0. Thursday is the second CMAC Tournament, and they will play against and at San Joaquin Memorial.
Girls tennis played in the Visalia Invitational on Friday and Saturday. On Tuesday the 19th, they traveled to Bullard. Tennis had a home match against Edison on Thursday. Sanger plays at Atascadero on Friday. Next week the girls have two more matches home on Tuesday, and at San Joaquin Memorial on Thursday.
