SEMIFINAL FINAL SCORES

DIVISION 1

4 CLOVIS EAST T WOLVES (9-3) vs 1 CLOVIS NORTH BRONCOS (12-0)
QUARTERFINAL RESULTS
The T Wolves beat Sanger 17-14. The Wolves had a 17-0 lead at the half and had to hang on. Did the bye week hurt CE? CE holds Sanger on a beautiful goal line stand to end the game.
Tommy Nix took a short pass from Ty Miller and scored on a 41-yard TD. Miller also threw a 26-yard TD pass to Donyell Booker and Francisco Damas nailed a field goal in the 1st quarter.

The Broncos beat the Clovis West Golden Eagles 34-0. The Broncos defense dominated the Golden Eagles on both sides of the ball.
Jackson Cinfel rushed for 161 yards and scored 2 TDs. McKay Madsen rushed for 66 yards and scored 3 TDs.

The X factor, Can the T Wolves defense play their best football on both sides of the ball? That’s pretty much the only way the Wolves can win this game.

THE PAG FACTOR, this is a rematch from the TRAC opening league game and CN beat CE 31-21. The score was 14-14 at the half and the Broncos took care of business in the 2nd half. Cinfel rushed for 82 yards, Andrew Chavez rushed for 67 yards and scored 2 TDs. Vince Cardova scored on a 3-yard run and caught a TD pass from QB Mario Cosma. On defense Brayden Bitter made 10 tackles.
The T Wolves QB Ty Miller threw for 318 yards and 3 TDs. Harold Duvall caught 4 passes for 158 yards and scored 2 TDs. Nix caught 4 passes and also caught a TD pass.

What’s crazy is looking at the stats, you would think the T Wolves won that game but the Wolves had 2 costly turnovers that killed them.
The Broncos have turned the ball over TWICE all year long and both fumbles came when the game was already decided. Only 2 turnovers in a season has to be a record?
It’s alway tough to beat a team twice in a year but the good news for CN is the Broncos didn’t play a Broncos good game in the TRAC opener vs CE and still won. The Broncos made the big stops and the T Wolves didn’t.
Are the T Wolves ready for this primetime Semifinal game? Will the nerves get to the T Wolves and that’s including the Coaching Staff. The CE Coaching needs a huge game plan as well as the players.
For the T Wolves to beat the No 1 team in the Central Section is they can’t afford any turnovers, can’t afford to be punting, must get ahead/stay ahead, slow down the Broncos running attack and throw over the physical Broncos defense. It sounds so easy on paper but the big problem for CE is nobody in the Central Section matches up with that big physical O-line and the 3 headed monster running backs of Cenfel, Madsen and Chavez.
For the Broncos to win, keep doing what they do best is pound the ball, keep the chains moving, the defensive secondary needs a big night and can’t give up the big play to Nix or Duvall. The Broncos D has to make QB Ty Miller very uncomfortable with pressure. If Miller is pressured, the Wolves are also dangerous with the big passing play. Get the ball out quickly and let Nix and Duvall do their thing. Can the T Wolves win the 50/50 ball? With the Broncos pressured defense, there could be plenty of 50/50 pass plays.
If the Liberty Patriots and the Central Grizzlies have the best coaching staff then the Broncos have the best OC with Vince Branstetter. Vince was the Broncos OC when the Broncos won their first Central Section Championship in 2012. That was also the last time a Clovis school won the Central Section Championship. Vince also got a ring when the Broncos won a D2 championship in 2011 beating Garces & was the OC in 2014 when the Edison Tigers beat the Liberty Patriots.
One thing that people seem to forget is the Broncos defense is really GOOD.
Keep an eye on senior Broncos QB Mario Cosma because Mario is being overlooked and can be a pure passer if needed. Mario is the perfect QB in the Broncos offense and also was the QB when Vince was the HC at Roosevelt. Mario knows what VB needs running the offense.
Something to think about, CN beat CW 34-27 in week 8 and put the Golden Eagles out of their misery. It’s tough to beat the same team twice in a year. CW didn’t have a turnover and CN still crushed CW 34-0.
What the Broncos will do with that big physical O-line is to find different blocking schemes to overpower the Wolves with plenty of double-teams. The crowd will be loud and this should be a good game.
PAGMETER PREDICTION BRONCOS 35 T WOLVES 24 (FINAL BRONCOS 34 T WOLVES 28)

7 CENTRAL GRIZZLIES (10-3) at 3 LIBERTY PATRIOTS (9-3)
QUARTERFINAL RESULTS
The Grizzlies beat the Frontier Titans 36-32. The Grizzlies win it with .11 seconds to go when QB David Marquez hits Braylen Hall on a 20-yard TD pass. Marquez stays hot going 16-29 for 333 yards passing and 5 TDs. Junior WR Daylon Scott had a big night catching 3 footballs for 143 yards and scored 2 TDs.
The Patriots beat the Clovis Cougars 33-30. Senior QB Cole O’Brien rushed for 63 yards, went 13-24 for 318 yards passing and 3 TDs. Jace Nixon, Davari Degraffenreid and Daviyon Day jr each caught a TD.

The X factor, it’s the physical back to back Central Section Champions and last year’s state Champion Liberty Patriots vs the speedy, red hot Central Grizzlies, who are playing their best football of the year at the right time.
The Patriots defensive secondary and the Grizzlies stopping the run are the HUGE X factors.
.
THE PAG FACTOR, there are so many twists and turns with this big match up.
The Patriots/Grizzlies have been the Central Section Champion Kings or played on Championship Friday for the last 9 straight years and will be 10 years after Friday Night.
2023 Patriots or Grizzlies, 2022 Patriots-Champions, 2021 Patriots-Champions, 2020 the world ended from the Plandemic, 2019 Grizzlies-Champions, 2018 Grizzlies-Champions, 2017 Grizzlies-Champions, 2016 Grizzlies lost to Bakersfield, 2015 Patriots-Champions, 2014 Patriots lost to Edison.
The Patriots last week didn’t play a great game, got almost every call with the officials and won. You can probably say the same thing for the Frontier Titans with their bye week coming out sluggish and the Grizzlies pulling out a huge win on the road over the undefeated Titans.
All that being said, this is a rematch from week 4 and the Patriots beat the Grizzlies 35-14. Marquez came in and went 5-6 passing and the Grizzlies made the move to Marquez and now the Grizzlies are a completely different team since week 4. The Grizzlies started the year with the old fumble-itis disease.
The Grizzlies WRs are just as good as any WR group in the state with seniors Noel Felix III, Braylen Hall and junior Daylon Scott who are all so dangerous after the catch.
Can the Patriots match up the Grizzlies WRs? The Patriots struggled against matching up with the Clovis WRs and now have to take on the Grizzlies speedy WRs. Can the Patriots make tackles in the open field?
Can the Patriots contain and put pressure on Marquez? If the Patriots let Marquez lose on the edge along with giving him time to throw, the Grizzlies will win. The Grizzlies O-line did a nice job vs the Titans pressure to give Marquez the time he needed.
The Patriots QB Cole O’Brien is the leader running & throwing and the ignitor for the Pates. For the Patriots to win, they must pound the ball with a physical O-line and O’Brien needs a big game or this will be No 11’s final high school game. The Grizzlies have struggled slowing down the run. The Patriots did get beat up playing the physical Clovis Cougars.
This Patriots team is not as good compared to the 2022 and 2021 teams but they play so well as a team. Any time you have HC Bryan Nixon and his staff, you can never count the Patriots out.
Same goes for Grizzlies HC Kyle Biggs and his staff because the Grizzlies are one of the most improved teams in the state. The two top Coaching staff square off.
Did the Grizzlies look like a Championship team early in the year? heck no. Do they look like a Championship team now? Hack yes!
This has the makings of a GREAT game and is tough to predict. The home team has the slight advantage.
In early August, the PAGMETER picked Clovis North to play Liberty on Championship Friday.

4 TULARE UNION TRIBE (7-4) at 1 CVC CAVALIERS (10-1)
QUARTERFINAL RESULTS
The Tribe beat the Kingsburg Vikings in a shootout 49-42. Sonny Guess caught a 7 yard TD pass from Jordan Crisp with 3:27 to go and it turned out to be the game winner. Crisp is on fire the last 4 games and the win over Kingsburg he scored a TD, went 23-29 passing for 349 yards and 5 TD passes (Brayden Stevenson caught 2 TD passes, and Guess, Franklin Lockard,
Demaje Riley each caught a TD) RB Tieler Peterson rushed for 166 yards and scored a TD.
The Cavaliers beat the Tehachapi Warriors 48-27. Bryson Donelson rushed for a CVC school record 390 yards and scored 6 TDs. The PAGMETER blew this upset pick and the Warriors had a great year. It’s unfortunate that the Warriors had to play up in D2.
The X Factor, Can the Tribe slow down the Cavaliers running attack? That’s a HUGE X factor! If not game over.

The PAG FACTOR, this will be a battle of two outstanding offenses. The big difference will be the Cavaliers defense will slow down the Tribe at some point and theTribe defense is just hoping to high-5 the Cavaliers as they run by them into the endzone. For the Tribe to win, they have to score on every single drive with no punting and hope for a miracle on defense.
PAGMETER PREDICTION CAVALIERS 55 TRIBE 35 (FINAL CAVALIERS 43 TRIBE 42)

3 CENTENNIAL GOLDEN HAWKS (7-6) at 2 LEMOORE TIGERS (10-3)
QUARTERFINAL RESULTS
The Hawks beat the Madera Coyotes 42-7. The G Hawks had a 42-0 lead. The Hawks defense played outstanding and leading the way was Roland Meyers with a 53 yard pick-6. Meyers also returned the opening kickoff for a 93 yard TD. QB Adam Copus scored on a 1 yard TD run and threw a 19 yard TD pass to Jaxton Santiago. Angel Lozano scored on a 5 yard TD run, Donnie Buford scored on a 4 yard TD run.
The defending Division 2 Section Champion Tigers beat the Sunnyside Wildcats 38-22. The Tigers starting defense stepped and played outstanding with 9 sacks. Junior DE Dorian Davis with 4 sacks. Senior RB Dameion Hernandez rushed for 106 yards and scored a TD.

The X factor, this game comes down to which defense will make the big plays.

THE PAG FACTOR, the Golden Hawks are finally healthy as a team on both sides of the ball. The Golden Hawks have had trouble playing against physical teams and the Tigers are a physical team. The Wildcats are a 7 vs 7 offense, not physical at all and now will play a big and physical Golden Hawks team.
Can the Tigers run the ball with Hernandez? Junior Tigers QB Aiden Mcdaniel will need a huge game for the Tigers to play in the Championship like last year.
The Combo of QB Copus & Santiago (Boston College) could be the difference. Having a senior combo is a big thing.

DIVISION 3

5 KERMAN LIONS (8-5) at 1 MISSION PREP ROYALS (8-4)
QUARTERFINAL RESULTS
The Lions beat the Kennedy Thunderbirds 34-28. The Birds were about to win at home until Lions RB Julien Velez took a hand off straight up the middle with 4.8 seconds to go on a 74 yard TOUCHDOWN run and the game winner.
The Royals beat the Porterville Panthers 15-14. The Panthers were on the 3 yard line and couldn’t get the field goal off and time ran out. RB Drew Harrigan rushed for 131 yards and scored on an 8 yard run. QB Thomas Glenn hit Jayden Nozil on a TD pass.
The X factor, this is a great matchup of the Lions outstanding offense vs the Royals outstanding defense. The Royals defense gets better as the game goes on.
THE PAG FACTOR, for the Lions to have another fun bus ride home, the offense has to have a great night. The Royals will want to slow the game down with Harrigan and the running attack.
The Royals can’t win in a shootout so the Lions offense needs to take care of business. Can the Royals slow down RB Velez? Both sophomore QBs with Lions Adrian Torres and Royals Glenn will need big games for their team. This has the makings to be a great finish.
PAGMETER PREDICTION LIONS 21 ROYALS 19 (FINAL LIONS 20 ROYALS 14 OT)

7 WASHINGTON UNION PANTHERS (5-8) vs 3 MISSION OAKS HAWKS (8-5)
QUARTERFINAL RESULTS
The Panthers beat the Atascadero Greyhounds 41-13. PAGMETER blew this prediction. The Panthers defense played a tremendous game and leading the way was PAGMETER senior All Star LB Kado Felder who is averaging 13 tackles a game. Senior QB Jason Torres scored a TD and went 6-9 passing for 150 yards and 2 TDs each to Ryan Brown and Davien Potts. Potts also scored on a 57 yard TD run. Decurtis Stroud rushed for 101 yards and scored a TD.
The Hawks beat the Mt Whitney Pioneers 35-12. QB Daniel Gonzalez scored 2 TDs and threw 2 TD passes. Kenny Jackson rushed for 134 yards, scored a TD and caught a 16 yard TD pass.
The X factor, this is the speedy Hawks offense vs the Panthers physical defense.

THE PAG FACTOR, the PAGMETER blew both predictions last week with Panthers/Hawks. The Panthers are one of the most streakest teams in the Central Section and they played outstanding on both sides of the ball in the Quarterfinals. Can they do it again?
The Hawks have been playing lights out since the tough loss to Hanford 35-34 in week 10.
This should be a great game!

5 TORRES TOROS (10-3) at 1 SHAFTER GENERALS (11-1)

QUARTERFINAL RESULTS
The Toros beat the Coalinga Horned Toads 21-19. No Stats available.
The Generals beat the Golden Valley Bulldogs 45-7. The Generals defense took care of business on the line of scrimmage and stuffed the Dogs running attack. QB Ezekiel Osborne went 12-22 for 189 and threw a 6-yard TD pass to Mariyon Sloan. Chris Espinoza rushed for 103 yards and scored 4 TDs. Cash Guiterrez rushed for 103 yards and scored a TD.
The X factor, both offenses can score plenty so which defense can make the big stops? Can the Generals slow down senior QB dual-threat QB Jose Soriano, senior RB Joe “Sea” Bass who has rushed for 1,200 yards, scored 17 TDs & playing both ways and Amani Sua who has rushed for 1,100 yards and has scored 15 TDs.
THE PAG FACTOR, both of these teams played each other in the semifinals at Matty J stadium in Madera last year and the Generals pulled off a GREAT win 42-41 in OT. The Generals scored first in OT. EZ hit Jesus Figeuroa on a pass deep in the end zone to give the Generals the lead. The Toros scored and decided to go for the win and the Generals defense made the big stop on the 2 point play. The Cardiac kids pulled it out.
Both teams bring plenty back for this game and the Toros have been thinking about playing the Generals for 365 days. The Generals at home have the edge.
PAGMETER PREDICTION GENERALS 41 TOROS 30 (FINAL TOROS 43 GENERALS 42)

THE REFS BLEW THE CALL
This game could be overturned because the Refs BLEW the call on the last play of game
but corrected it minutes later after huddling up. It was a bad snap, the holder scrambled and threw a pass to the center which was an illegal receiver.
The Game should have been over ruled incomplete pass. Game over and Shafter should be the winner.
The CIF made the wrong call and it’s sad.

3 EXETER MONARCHS (11-2) at 2 DOS PALOS BRONCOS (11-1)

The X factor, Can the Broncos defense slow down the speedy Monarchs? Can the Monarchs defense step up on the road?
THE PAG FACTOR, there’s something magical when the Broncos play at home. Both offenses are very good and the team that can make the big play down the stretch will be playing on championship Friday. Both teams can light up the scoreboard.

QUARTERFINAL RESULTS

The Broncos beat the North Stars 55-43. The Broncos offense went off! QB Boden St Marie threw 2 TDs and scored 2 TDs.
The X factor, can the Pirates defense slow down a very good Broncos offense?
THE PAG FACTOR, the Division 6 Broncos with 600 students got a huge win over North. The Broncos might be the last chance for any small school to ever win a small school championship again. The good news for the Pirates making the long journey to Bishop, no rain/snow is forecasted. It will be 50 degrees at kickoff and dropping to 40 degrees in the 4th quarter.

3 LIBERTY HAWKS (9-3) at 2 WASCO TIGERS (6-5)
QUARTERFINAL RESULTS
The Hawks beat the Chavez Titans 34-31 in overtime. The Hawks defense held the Titans to a field goal in OT. Noah Bonilla hit Brody Harlow over the middle and Harlow broke loose for the winning OT TD.
The Tigers beat Reedley 28-21. WILD FINISH! The Tigers were about to score the go ahead TD but fumbled on the goal line with 1:30 left. The Pirates recovered and just needed a 1st down or punt it away with little time left in the game and no Tigers timeouts. On 3rd down, Tigers Ram Garcia stripped the ball away, picked up the fumble and scored the game winning TD.
The X factor, this will be a battle on the line of scrimmage of two teams that love to run the ball.
THE PAG FACTOR, Hawks QB Noah Bonilla will be huge in this game. Which defense can make the big stops? This game could come down to the final minute.

4 STRATHMORE SPARTANS (8-4) at 1 ARVIN BEARS (7-4)

QUARTERFINAL RESULTS
The Spartans beat Woodlake 27-21. Jacob Poole rushed for 163 yards and scored a TD. QB Bryson Bias was on fire going 12-13 passing for 170 yards and 2 TDs.
The Bears beat Orange Cove 56-35. The Bears scored 14 points in the 4th quarter to break it open. Xavier Reynoso rushed for 144 yards and scored a TD. Xavier Gonzalez rushed for 117 yards and scored 3 TDs. Steven Martinez scored 2 TDs. Sophomore Andrew Rosales completed all 8 passes to Jack Kasinger along with hooking up for a TD pass.
The X factor, both offenses are dangerous and play physical defense. Both teams will want to pound the ball.
THE PAG FACTOR, the Bears might have the edge on offense and the Spartans might have the edge on defense. This game is so even. If the Spartans can win the battle on the line of scrimmage, the bus ride home will be fun. Can Poole control the line of scrimmage for the Spartans? Poole will get stronger as the game goes on. Can the Spartans handle the big and physical Bears O-line? Can the Bears handle one of the best WR in the Central Section Jack Kasinger. The Spartans can’t load the box with the dangerous Jackie Boy line up wide.
This game could come down to a big turnover. The Spartans need to move the chains with their physical running attack. The Spartans defense will need a big night vs the explosive Bears offense. Which team will make the big plays on both sides of the ball?
PAGMETER PREDICTION BEARS 30 SPARTANS 28 (FINAL SPARTANS 28 BEARS 21)

7 FOWLER REDCATS (6-7) at 3 MENDOTA AZTECS (7-6)
QUARTERFINAL RESULTS
The Recats beat Boron 43-36. This was a great game!! The Bobcats were close to scoring late but Redcats Robert Ruiz sealed it with an INT. QB Bubba Smith rushed for 81 yards, scored 3 TDs and threw a TD pass to Diego Diaz.
The Aztecs beat Taft 42-28. Donnie Munoz rushed for 106 yards and scored 2 TDs.
The X factor, can the Aztecs slow down Bubba? That’s all you need to know. If they do…game over. If the Aztecs can force some turnovers..game over. If you have watched Bubba play, he will make plenty of the plays up after the snap. Knowing Aztecs HC Beto Mejia, he will have a good defensive game plan. Can the Redcats slow down the new and exciting Aztecs offense?
THE PAG FACTOR, the Redcats got their biggest win of the year beating a good Boron team. The Aztecs for years play great in the big game and the Aztecs have the big edge playing at home.

The X factor, both offenses are explosive. This game is all about the Chieftains defense because you just don’t know who will show up. If Sierra can play physical defense, they have a good chance.
THE PAG FACTOR, the Eagles are looking at a 3-peat and looking to win 35 straight games. The Eagles flew past being Alabama of the 8 man football, they are now the Georgia Bulldogs. It is going to be a packed Fresno Christian Stadium and can the Chieftains get over the Eagles 8 man football dynasty ? It’s not easy. Somebody soon will finally stop the Eagles winning streak. • All’s I can say, is bye weeks don’t do a bit of good, except for maybe getting some players back and healthy, but other than that, byes only lead to playing flat games, in which, it cost Frontier, and nearly cost Liberty, to bad that kid for Frontier couldn’t have squeeze that interception a play earlier, it would been game over, you play that same game a week later, and Frontier comes out on top, no problem, crazy.
