LATEST IN HIGH SCHOOL COACHING
**MONACHE MARAUDERS Head Coach SHANE FOCKE is stepping down. Shane has been the HC at Monache since 2019 and the freshmen coach before that. It hasn’t been easy working with PUSD especially when PUSD panicked and shut sports down when the world ended because of the overrated flu. The football program was really hurt when they shut sports down. The Marauders will be in search of a new Head Coach.

**RIGHETTI HIGH WARRIORS Head Coach TONY PAYNE is stepping down. TP Coached 5 years at Righetti High where he graduated and is a former Fresno State Bulldog player. The Warriors won the Division 5 Section Championship last year. The Warriors will be in search of a new Head Coach.

**YOSEMITE BADGERS Head Coach JOSH WISNIOWSKI is stepping down and who can blame him. Until the Yosemite administration changes or wants to start supporting sports again, Yosemite will continue to be a shit show and soon might not even have a football program. We all remember when Yosemite was a GREAT football tradition and it’s amazing how one administration can crush years of history in a short time. Who the heck will want this job!! It is completely a miserable place from top to bottom. The bad news for Yosemite football is Minarets has a tremendous youth football program right down the hill and parents are very smart in today’s world and parents don’t put up with bullshit for long and will transfer out. My guess is Yosemite will hire within but whoever takes over, for the love of God, PLEASE SUPPORT HIM!

**STOCKDALE MUSTANGS Head Coach BRETT SHELTON will not be back in 2023. Brett graduated from Stockdale in 2004 and started coaching in 2017. Coach did a great job but with kids transferring out, it is making the Mustangs a tough job.

PAGMETER will attempt to predict the state playoffs. Some are a flip of the coin pick. Some games could come down to who is prepared after a long road trip. Some games are tough to pick because you just don’t know what the match up will look like without seeing teams live.
Here it goes…

PAGMETER LINE T WOLVES -3
The T Wolves beat Lakewood 35-14. Senior RB Adam Harper rushed for 175 yards and scored 3 TDs.
The Thunderbirds beat Sunnyside 40-20. The Birds defense played tremendously. The 20 points that they gave up was at the end of the game. The Birds rushed for 390 yards and Jace Demacabalin rushed for 149 yards.
THE PAG FACTOR: The T Wolves offense averages 34 points per game and this will be the Warriors best defense they will have played against all year long. Defense wins championships!! Can the Birds offense step up?
PAGMETER PREDICTION (MINI UPSET SPECIAL) THUNDERBIRDS 20 T WOLVES 17

FINAL T WOLVES 10 THUNDERBIRDS 7

DIVISION 1–A SATURDAY

PAGMETER LINE BUFFALOES -12
The Buffaloes beat Granite Bay 51-48 to win their 9th San Joaquin Section Championship.
The Pirates beat Clayton Valley 13-3 and are back to back Division 1 Champions.
THE PAG FACTOR: It’s the Buffaloes outstanding offense vs the Pirates outstanding defense. The Pirates offense will need to step up this week if they want to play for the state Championship. Pirates head coach Vic Galli will be retiring after 21 seasons.
PAGMETER PREDICTION PIRATES 33 BUFFALOES 20

FINAL PIRATES 35 BUFFALOES 14

South: LIBERTY PATRIOTS (12-2) at YORBA LINDA MUSTANGS (14-1)
PAGMETER LINE MUSTANGS -3
The Patriots beat Memorial 29-13. The Patriots defense stuffed the Panthers running attack in the 2nd half and that was the difference. Kresean Kizzy returned a punt 65 yards for a TD and that got the Patriots fired up. Kizzy also caught an 80 TD pass from Jace Nixon. Cole O’Brien scored a TD. Jalen Hankins rushed for 174 yards and Grant Meadors nailed 3 field goals.
The Mustangs beat Upland 9-6. Jayden Flaig hit a game-winning 42-yard field goal with 2 seconds to go.
Leading the Mustangs will be QB Reyn Beal and RB William Saucedo, who has rushed for 1,525 yards. Beal’s favorite target is JJ Conrad.
THE PAG FACTOR: The Patriots are one of the best teams in the state that travel well because they play great on the road. The big X factor will be the Patriots defense and playing tough in the 2nd half.
PAGMETER PREDICTION PATRIOTS 27 MUSTANGS 23

FINAL PATRIOTS 41 MUSTANGS 28

DIVISION 5–A SATURDAY
North: CLEAR LAKE CARDINALS (12-2) at ORLAND TROJANS (14-0)

PAGMETER PREDICTION TROJANS 33 CARDINALS 21

FINAL TROJANS 42 CARDINALS 21

South: SHAFTER GENERALS (11-4) at WALNUT MUSTANGS (11-4)
PAGMETER LINE MUSTANGS -10
The Generals beat Caruthers 42-35 and the first section Championship since 1955. QB Ezekiel Osborne went 22-37 for 373 yards and 4 TD passes and Mariyon Sloan caught 10 footballs for 200 yards and 1 TD. Koa Rhodes rushed for 84 yards and scored 2 TDs and Ernesto Guerrero nailed 2 late field goals
The Mustangs beat Bellflower 27-14 and won their first Championship in 20 years. Senior QB Sal Quintanilla rushed for 107 yards, scored a TD and threw 2 TD passes.
THE PAG FACTOR: Can the Generals defense slow QB Quintanilla? It would be nice for the Generals to get off to a great start on the road instead of getting down big like the last 3 weeks and battling all the way back. The Generals are the most amazing team in the state with so many great comeback wins.
The Mustangs defense is very good but so was Caruthers, Liberty Madera and Kennedy. If the Generals can avoid turnovers then the bus ride home will be fun.
PAGMETER PREDICTION MINI UPSET GENERALS 30 MUSTANGS 28

FINAL GENERALS 20 MUSTANGS 16

DIVISION 6–A SATURDAY
North: ATASCADERO GREYHOUNDS (10-4) at COLUSA REDHAWKS (10-3)

The Redhawks beat Pierce 7-0. Landon Humphrey returned a kickoff for a TD to start the 2nd half and the defense did the rest.
THE PAG FACTOR; Colusa is a small farm town with 400 in the entire school. The Hounds need to get off to a much better start than last week to have a fun bus ride home.
PAGMETER PREDICTION GREYHOUNDS 23 REDHAWKS 7

DIVISION 7–AA State Championship
PINOLE VALLEY SPARTANS (9-4) at MENDOTA AZTECS (9-6)

PAGMETER LINE SPARTANS -10

The Aztecs beat Hanford West 38-8. The Aztecs defense played outstanding. Chris Mejia rushed for 148 yards and scored a TD. QB Juan Ceja scored 2 TDs and threw a TD pass Bernie Camacho.
THE PAG FACTOR: The entire town of Mendota will be at the game and that is worth at least a 10 point swing. The crowd will be loud and the Aztecs defense needs to be physical. The Spartans are a fast and physical team and for the Aztecs to win, they must get off to a fast start and make a statement. Can the Aztecs defense slow down RB McDonald who is fast? This will be a huge win for the Aztecs because the Spartans could win division 5!
PAGMETER PREDICTION (MINI UPSET) AZTECS 30 SPARTANS 27

FINAL SPARTANS 34 AZTECS 21
