THE X FACTOR
The big match up will be the outstanding Aztecs offense vs the outstanding Huskies defense.

THE PAG FACTOR
The Huskies offense will need a big night to win their first section championship. Can the Huskies slow down the Aztecs senior QB Juan Ceja and the experienced offense?
This is the best team that the Huskies have had in years and new Head Coach Allen Perryman and his staff have done a tremendous job with building the Huskies football program.
Can the Aztecs slow down outstanding RB Oryin Turner, who gets better in the 2nd half of the game? This will be a battle of who can be more physical up front.
The Huskies defense is very good at causing turnovers and will need to do it again this week.
Aztecs Head Coach Beto Mejia who has been coaching at Mendota for 12 years and saw this as a potential team to win it all this year in either division 5 or division 6 but injuries and setbacks hurt them during the year.

PIONEERS VALLEY PANTHERS (7-7) at ATASCADERO GREYHOUNDS (9-4)

The X FACTOR
This is a rematch from week 9 and the Panthers beat the Hounds 21-20. Since 2010, The Greyhounds are 9-3 against the Panthers.
The Panthers continue to win tough games in the last minute with pounding the football. The Panthers are 5-3 in close games. The Greyhounds are on fire on both sides of the ball. Can the Panthers pull off another win without throwing the ball?
Leading the Panthers will be RB Allen Jimeniz who has rushed for 727 yards and scored 9 TDs, and RB Anthony Arias who has rushed for 684 yards and scored 5 TDs.

THE PAG FACTOR
The playing field will be a huge advantage for the hounds because the field is full of potholes. Can the Panthers offensive line and RBs control the line of scrimmage and keep the Hounds offense on the sidelines with long drives? The Panthers must shorten the game to win.

The Generals beat Torres 42-41 in overtime in a great game. Freshman QB Ezekiel Osborne threw 3 TD passes. Jesus Figeuroa caught 3 TD passes and returned a punt for a TD. Christopher Espinoza rushed for 111 yards and scored a TD. Rafael Roman-Amador rushed for 82 yards and scored a TD.

CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY
The Generals last won a Championship in 1949 and 1955.
The Blue Raiders have won 7 Championships starting in 1979 and the latest in 2019.

THE X FACTOR
This is a battle of two hot teams playing great football at the right time. The Blue Raiders have won 8 straight games and are 7-1 at home this year. The Generals are 7-1 on the road and have had 5 one point games and 2 OT games. The Blue Raiders are 3-1 in close games.
Keep an eye on Generals freshman QB Ezekiel Osborne who has thrown for 2,641 passing and 29 TD passes and WR junior Jesus Figueroa who has caught 37 footballs for 963 yards, & 13 TDs.
The Blue Raiders will have senior QB Collin Hirschkorn who has thrown for 2,079, and 22 TD passes and WR/CB Landon Almeida who is Mr Clutch with 32 receptions and 11 TDs.

PAG FACTOR
The Generals have their 1,000 yard rusher back in the lineup with senior Koa Rhodes who suffered a moderate MCL tear against Wasco, and this will be huge for the young offense. Koa will not play on defense. sophomore Christopher Espinoza (735 rushing yards) has done a great job picking up the pace.
Can the Generals slow down red hot junior RB Hunter Babb who has rushed for 1854 yards and has scored 33 TDs?
Can the Blue Raiders defense play tough again this week? Both teams are big-time 4th quarter teams that love pressure.
With both teams playing outstanding on the offensive side of the ball, this game comes down to who makes the big stops and can force the big turnovers. Don’t plan on leaving early because this game could go down to the final minutes…

SUNNYSIDE WILDCATS (11-3) at KENNEDY THUNDERBIRDS (11-2)

PAGMETER EARLY LINE WILDCATS -3
SEMIFINAL RESULTS
The Wildcats beat Independence 38-23. Sophomore QB Tanner Wilson went 16-21 for 279 yards and 3 TD passes. Cj Jones caught 8 passes and a TD. Malachi Barnes caught 5 passes with 2 TDs, and returned a kickoff for a TD. Daequan Jones scored on a rushing TD.

The Thunderbirds beat Mission Prep 27-14. The defense continues to dominate. Gamiez Helm rushed for 125 yards and scored 2 TDs. Ace Demacabalin scored on a 2 yard TD run. Gerardo Salazar caught a TD pass from QB Julian Orozco.

CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY
The Wildcats are looking for their first Section Championship in school history.
The Thunderbirds have won 3 Section Championships, most recent in 2018 in division 5 and back to back division 6 titles in 2014 & 2015.

THE X FACTOR
This is the big matchup of the Wildcats offense that averages close to 40 points per game vs the Thunderbirds defense that gives up 10 points per game.
The Wildcats have won 10 straight games and the Birds have won 9 straight games.
The Cats will lead with QB Tanner Wilson who has thrown 4,305 yards this year. Tanner is now 4th all time in valley history for a single season and tied for 3rd all time with 50 TD passes.
Sophomore WR CJ Jones has caught 114 passes for 1,507, & 16 TDs. WR Malaci Barnes has caught 83 passes for 1,188 yards & 16 TDs..
The Thunderbirds will lead with RB Gamiez Helm who is playing much more running back the last 3 games. QB Julian Orozco who has thrown for 1,236 passing and 17 TDs. The Birds defense is where they really stand out with plenty of seniors with LB Sergio Gonzalez (89 tackles), Emiliano Herrejon (76 tackles), Jude De La Cueva (62 tackles) Bryan Guevara (77 tackles) and Sebastian Duran (66 tackles)

THE PAG FACTOR
This might just be the most interesting matchup of the night and tough to pick.
The Wildcats are so explosive and can score on any play. The Thunderbirds defense will show the Cats so many different looks especially with the defensive front that will line up well off the ball to frustrate the O-Line. The Birds will bring plenty of pressure from everywhere. QB Wilson, who is a gun-slinger, is not afraid to throw it up and let his WRs go get it. The Birds defense has to try to keep Wilson from extending the play while moving around with more time to throw to his dangerous receivers. If Wilson can do his thing then the Thunderbirds will have to win in a shootout because the Wildcats offense will roll.
The Birds offense has to be able to pound it with a physical running attack with long drives and keep the Wildcats offense frustrated with standing on the sideline.
If the Birds can force some turnovers, the Thunderbirds can win their 4 section Championship in school history. I will guarantee that the Thunderbirds haven’t seen an explosive offense like the Wildcats all year long. The Thunderbirds played Edison to open the year in a last minute 20-13 loss. Edison is explosive and the Birds did a nice job on defense. Playing in the NYL, the Wildcats haven’t seen a physical attack like the Birds.
If the Wildcats defense can play tough up front and the offense doesn’t turn the ball over, then the bus ride back home will be fun.

DIVISION 2

LEMOORE TIGERS (12-1) at CVC CAVALIERS (12-1)
PAGMETER EARLY LINE CAVALIERS -7
SEMIFINAL RESULTS
The Tigers beat Frontier 56-21. Senior QB Ty Chambers rushed for 107 yards on 9 carries, scored 2 TDs, went 18-24 for 306 yards passing and 2 TD passes.

The Cavaliers beat Hanford 50-41. Junior RB Bryson Donelson rushed for 253 yards, scored on 2 rushing TDs, caught a TD pass and threw a TD pass.

CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY
The Tigers won their only Championship in 2005 winning Division 3.
The Cavaliers have won 6 titles with the latest last year winning the Division 3 Section Championship.

THE X FACTOR
This is the big one that everybody has been waiting for.
The Tigers are on fire since they lost to Clovis West back in week 3 winning 9 straight games. The Tigers are averaging 48 points per game and the Cavaliers are averaging 41 points per game.
Keep an eye on Tigers QB Chambers who has thrown for 2,301 yards, 30 TD pass, rushed for 598 and has scored 12 TDs. RB Andrew Moench has rushed for 709 yards, 11 TDs, WR DeMel Turner with 37 receptions for 1049 yards & 17 TDs.
The Cavaliers will have QB Max Bakker who has thrown for 1,954 yards and 31 TDs. DL/WR Jaeden Moore who has committed to play at Oregon has 9 sacks, 24 receptions & 11 TDs, RB Bryson Donalson has rushed for 1,206 yards & 15 TDs. Zach Zwart with 38 receptions, scored 7 TD and Trent Greidanus with 50 tackles & 5 sacks.

THE PAG FACTOR
The Tigers are very athletic, fast, physical and explosive. The Cavaliers are very talented, smart, athletic and always in the right spot to make plays.
Both offenses are very good so which defense will step up? The Cavaliers had 4 turnovers in the win over Hanford and still scored 50 points. The Tigers are an early round knockout team and that means they love to go for the kill early and jump out big.
Can the Tigers slow down Donalson and the Cavaliers running attack? QB Max Bakker does a great job on the play action pass when teams are focusing on the run.
The Tigers secondary is very athletic and they will need a big game when the Tigers front seven is focusing on the running game.
Can the Cavaliers contain QB Ty Chambers when he has the football because he is so dangerous.
Both teams can score on any play so the pressure is on the defensive side of the ball.
This has the makings to be a good old fashioned shootout.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE LIBERTY PATRIOTS BACK TO BACK CENTRAL SECTION CHAMPIONS

MEMORIAL PANTHERS (10-3) at LIBERTY PATRIOTS (11-2)
PAGMETER EARLY LINE PATRIOTS -6
SEMIFINAL RESULTS
The Panthers beat Clovis West 30-20. The Panthers got outplayed in the first half but stayed with the game plan of the Brando train along with the Panthers defense stepping up. RB Brandon Ramirez rushed for 204 yards and scored 3 TDs, Marquise Jones caused a big safety and Jayden Enriquez with a pick-6.

The Patriots beat Buchanan 28-20. The Patriots dominated a pretty close game and the DBs played outstanding against the Bears WRs. QB Cole O’Brien had his best game of the year, scored on runs of 4 & 1 yards, threw 2 TD passes each to Kresean Kizzy and Xander Chisolm that each went for 11 yards.

CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY
The Panthers are playing for their 1st Central Section Championship in school history. SJM has won 9 lower division titles with the recent being in 2019 winning division 2, but never in the Central Section Championship big boy division of division 1.

The Patriots are the defending Central Section Champions and won their 2nd Central Section Championship in 2015.

THE X FACTOR
Two of the best defenses will battle against both offenses that love to pound the football.
7 vs 7 that got heated when they played each other.
The Panthers come in with a fully loaded senior class and this could be their best chance to win a Central Section Championship at least for a few years.
The Patriots also have a good size senior class and plenty of studs from last year’s championship team.
The Top players to keep an eye on for the Panthers will be RB/S Brandon Ramirez who has rushed for 1,729 yards and has scored 29 TDs, WR/DB Jayden Enriquez, who has caught 18 passes for 320 yards, scored 2 TDs, and has made 59 tackles, 5 INTs, QB Carson Dean who has a tremendous arm, DL Marquis Jones Jr. with 53 tackles & 7.5 sacks, LB Brandon Rangel with 5 sacks-67 tackles, Jacob Rangel with 77 tackles, LB James Mahoney with 6.5 sacks & 70 tackles, DL/OL Brayden Hall with 5 sacks, DE Israel Blackwell, 4 sacks, Brady Stovall with 59 tackles, and with the secondary DB Donovan Harris, DB/safety Ramon Ruiz, FS Tommy Nix, DB Jordan Black, and DB Landon Nesbit.

The Patriots will lead with RB Jalen Hankins who has rushed for 878 yards & 18 TDs, WR/KR Kresean Kizzy has caught 29 footballs for 607 yards & 8TDs, & 3 punt returns for TDs, Grant Buckey OL/DE who will be playing at USC, LB/WR Beckom Nielson, K/P Grant Meadors, DB Caleb Risewig, LB Jackson Provensal, DL Max Juarez, DL Daniel Estrada, DB/WR Ermiah Harrison, WR Ethan Mehanke, DB Christan Edwards, DB/WR Xander Chisolm, WR/DB junior Tejon Fulton and QB Cole O’Brien.

THE PAG FACTOR
Get ready for the Brando express and the real BIG BIG BIG X factor is can the Patriots slow down Ramirez? If the Patriots can slow down Ramirez, it’s back to back Central Section Championships for the Patriots because the Panthers will not try plan B. If the Panthers can run the ball with Ramirez then the Patriots will need the offense to step up and match points.
The Panthers will come in and it will be all Brando. If I’m the Panthers, I would be ready to play-action pass since everybody will be focusing on Ramirez but the Panthers haven’t tried play action passing all year long. Look for the Patriots to man the Panthers WR/WRs and force the Panthers to throw the ball.
There are so many things the Panthers can do to keep the Patriots off balance besides the play-action by putting Brando in motion and getting him out in the flat, running the arrow-wheel…You get the idea. If the Panthers are timid like last week in the first half of the Clovis West game, the Patriots will jump out and the Patriots are tough to beat when they smell blood especially at home. The Patriots offense is much better than the Clovis West offense and if the Patriots defense steps up, the Patriots offense will feed off of it.
QB Carson Dean is not coached up very well because once he hands the ball off that’s it. There is no carry out the fake, no play-action with rolling out and hitting the quick pass…NOTHING so why even have a QB? The Panthers might as well go wildcat offense with Brando and put in an extra blocker or give Dean a chair to watch since he does nothing after the play. Why even mess with the hand off.
This is the big boy division and you better have your play-book ready going up against the top defense in the central section,
If the Patriots defense does a nice job up front, the Panthers will need Dean to hit some big passes.
The Patriots offense’s big X factor is QB Cole O’Brien who is playing much better attacking the edge but can’t turn the ball over. Last week he threw 3 picks.
The Panthers have to avoid the big punt or kickoff return because Kresean Kizzy is dangerous. Will outstanding Panthers sophomore kicker Alex Asparuhov kick it deep or squib it? We know that Grant Meadors who will be kicking for the Oregon Ducks will be kicking it out of the end zone.
With both defenses being so good, every possession will be huge.
The 4 big things that could make the difference?
1, Can the Patriots slow down Ramirez?
2, Can the athletic QB Cole O’Brien have a big game with the Patriots offense and avoid turnovers?
3, Will the Panthers offense be scared to go for the win?
4, Can Panthers QB Carson Dean make the big throw when needed?
