2022 FOOTBALL PLAYOFF BRACKETS & TOP 35

Matty J and I are officially no longer doing the PAGMETER Show on Fox sports.
The powers that be tried to censure us from talking about Fresno State, good/bad/ugly.
If we are not free to be critical of things we see for our listeners, then what good is our show.
The PAGMETER show was #1 because we have the greatest audience and you the listeners love our banter, our entertaining hot topic style and of course we were never afraid to tackle the tough story that nobody else would talk about. We are just two guys talking sports, standing up for Coaches, AD’s, Players, Teams, and bringing back COMMON SENSE!
Stay tuned for great things coming very soon for the PAGMETER Show.
We would like to THANK our super team at Fox Sports and our beautiful listeners!

THANK YOU FOR MAKING THE PAGMETER WEBSITE THE GO TO FOR HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS

FOOTBALL COACHING NEWS NEWS

**MONACHE MARAUDERS Head Coach SHANE FOCKE is stepping down. Shane has been the HC at Monache since 2019 and the freshmen coach before that. It hasn’t been easy working with PUSD especially when PUSD panicked and shut sports down when the world ended because of the overrated flu. The football program was really hurt when they shut sports down. The Marauders will be in search of a new Head Coach.

**RIGHETTI HIGH WARRIORS Head Coach TONY PAYNE is stepping down. TP Coached 5 years at Righetti High where he graduated and is a former Fresno State Bulldog player. The Warriors won the Division 5 Section Championship last year. The Warriors will be in search of a new Head Coach.

**YOSEMITE BADGERS Head Coach JOSH WISNIOWSKI is stepping down and who can blame him. Until the Yosemite administration changes or wants to start supporting sports again, Yosemite will continue to be a shit show and soon might not even have a football program. We all remember when Yosemite was a GREAT football tradition and it’s amazing how one administration can crush years of history in a short time. Who the heck will want this job!! It is completely a miserable place from top to bottom. The bad news for Yosemite football is Minarets has a tremendous youth football program right down the hill and parents are very smart in today’s world and parents don’t put up with bullshit for long and will transfer out. My guess is Yosemite will hire within but whoever takes over, for the love of God, PLEASE SUPPORT HIM!

PAGMETER CHAMPIONSHIP WEEK TOP 35 FOOTBALL RANKINGS

No 1 LIBERTY PATRIOTS (10-2) vs Memorial Panthers
(FOR THE CENTRAL SECTION CHAMPIONSHIP)
SOUTH SEQUOIA CHAMPIONS & DEFENDING CENTRAL SECTION CHAMPIONS

The Defending Champions are hosting the Panthers. The Patriots dominated a pretty close game. The Patriots DBs played outstanding against the Bears WRs. QB Cole O’Brien had his best game of the year, scored on runs of 4 & 1 yards, threw 2 TD passes each to Kresean Kizzy and Xander Chisolm that each went for 11 yards.

No 2 MEMORIAL PANTHERS (10-2) at Liberty Patriots
(FOR THE CENTRAL SECTION CHAMPIONSHIP)
BACK TO BACK CMAC CHAMPIONS

The Panthers are playing for their 1st Central Section Championship in school history. I get that SJM has won many lower division titles but never in the Central Section Championship big boy division of division 1. The Panthers got outplayed in the first half against Clovis West but stayed with the game plan of the Brando train. RB Brandon Ramirez rushed for 204 yards and scored 3 TDs, Marquise Jones caused a big safety and Jayden Enriquez with a pick-6.
Get ready for the Brando express again this week for the Central Section Championship.

No 3 CLOVIS WEST GOLDEN EAGLES (10-2) Lost to Memorial Panthers 30-20
TRAC CHAMPIONS

The overachieving Golden Eagles had a tremendous year winning the TRAC and 10 games. For the Golden Eagles to get this far was fantastic with a young team. The defense played outstanding in the loss to SJM. In the 1st half they controlled the game but offense was shut down in the 2nd half and had no answers.
2023 the Golden Eagles will be very good with plenty returning including the 3 best junior receivers in the state with Jordan Pierro, Marshel Sanders and Landon Wright.

No 4 BUCHANAN BEARS (9-3) Lost to Liberty Patriots 28-20
The Bears battled against the Defending champs but couldn’t get it done. The Patriots DBs did a great job causing 7 drop passes that really hurt the offense. Machai Johnson started the scoring with a pick 6. Kannon Campbell scored on a 11 Yd TD run. Freshman Safety Austin Finnegan with 2 interceptions. QB Jayden Mandel leaves Buchanan as the best QB in school history along with a 4.0 GPA. Jayden will graduate early and will have everything lined up to be at Fresno State to start school in the spring and play spring ball.

No 5 CVC CAVALIERS (12-0) vs Lemoore Tigers
(FOR THE DIVISION 2 SECTION CHAMPIONSHIP)
TRI-COUNTY CHAMPIONS

The Cavaliers beat Hanford 50-41. The Cavaliers defense came in averaging giving up 10 points per game. Junior RB Bryson Donelson rushed for 253 yards, scored on 2 rushing TDs, caught a TD pass and threw a TD pass.
The defending Division 3 Section Champions will host the Tigers for the Division 2 Section Championship.

No 6 LEMOORE TIGERS (11-1) at CVC Cavaliers
(FOR THE DIVISION 2 SECTION CHAMPIONSHIP)
WEST YOSEMITE CHAMPIONS

The Tigers are playing their best football heading into this Friday after beating Frontier. Senior QB Ty Chambers rushed for 107 yards on 9 carries, scored 2 TDs, went 18-24 for 306 yards passing and 2 TD passes. Tiger nation can’t wait for Friday night!

No 7 CLOVIS NORTH BRONCOS (7-4) Lost to Buchanan Bears 37-24
The Bears had a well prepared game plan on both sides of the ball vs the Broncos. The Broncos have to do everything they can to keep Vince Branstetter at OC because if he leaves, bye bye to the physical running attack because VB did a tremendous job with the young Broncos. It’s probably the toughest place in the Central Section to be an assistant coach. The Broncos have plenty of young talent coming back and leading the way will be sophomore RB McKay Madsen, sophomore RB Jackson Cinfel, junior RB Andrew Chavez and junior QB Mario Cosmo.

No 8 CENTRAL GRIZZLIES (7-5) Lost to Memorial Panthers 28-21
The Grizzlies battled but it wasn’t enough vs SJM. Senior QB Dayton Tafoya had a fantastic career for the Grizzlies playing a TOUGH schedule. In his 2 seasons, Dayton threw for 5,488 yards and 62 TD passes. Whoever comes up from the JV or transfers in, it will be some tough shoes to fill for Dayton Tafoya at QB.

No 9 HANFORD BULLPUPS (9-4) Lost to CVC CAVALIERS
The Bullpups battled but couldn’t slow down the Cavaliers running attack. Lineman Erik Lamb scored on a 2 yard TD, Kourdey Glass scored on a 10 yard TD run, QB Cayden Muir threw 2 TD passes, (18 yards to Kourdey Glass and JC Turner 67-yards), Donavan Smith with 53 yard pick 6,

No 10 ST JOSEPH KNIGHTS (10-2) Lost to Liberty Patriots 49-13
MOUNTAIN LEAGUE CHAMPIONS

The Knights started out with a beautiful opening driving TD and then the Knights had no answers vs the Patriots. The Knights had a fantastic season and were the best team on the Central Coast. Leading the Knights is outstanding senior dual-threat QB Darien Mensah, Junior RB Carter Vargas, senior WR Collin Fasse and senior OL Makai Sat.

No 11 CLOVIS COUGARS (5-7) Lost to Clovis West Golden Eagles 24-21
The Cougars came in with a tremendous game plan vs Clovis West but came up just a little short. The young Cougars were one of the best stories of 2022 and they did a wonderful job every week. Head Coach Aaron Wilkins and his staff did a masterful job with this young team and the future is bright. The Cougars have one of the best young QBs in the state with freshman Deagan Rose. Deagan threw for 2,429 yards and 26 TD passes and should be the all time leading Cougars passing king by the time he graduates.

No 12 GARCES RAMS (4-7) Lost to Clovis Cougars 21-20
This one will sting for a while blowing a 20 point lead. The Rams season was so up and down. Junior QB Jordan Gallegoz will be ready for a big senior year.

No 13 CENTENNIAL GOLDEN HAWKS (8-3) Lost to Clovis North Broncos 40-7
The G Hawks will be very good in 2023 with junior QB Adam Copus and junior WR Jaxton Santiago leading the way.

No 14 FRONTIER TITANS (8-5) Lost to Lemoore Tigers 56-21
Junior QB Malakhi Statler threw 3 TD passes but the Titans defense couldn’t slow down the red hot Tigers. Watch out for the Titans in 2023 because plenty are coming back who got tons of playing time.

No 15 KINGSBURG VIKINGS (9-2) Lost to Frontier Titans 38-35
The Vikings gave up way too many big plays in the loss to Frontier. The Vikings had a tremendous year. Leading the way was senior RB Trace Jackson who had a great Vikings career. Senior QB Ethan Winslow played lights out and will be ready for baseball season. Senior Wide receivers Conner McFall and Caleb Irigoyen will be tough to replace next year.

No 16 CLOVIS EAST T WOLVES (6-5) Lost to St Joseph Knights 41-6
2023 the T Wolves should be very good with sophomore QB Ty Miller leading the way who has thrown for 2,411 yards and 25 TD passes.

No 17 REDWOOD RANGERS (8-3) Lost to Central Grizzlies 48-21
EAST YOSEMITE CHAMPIONS

The Rangers learned a lot playing Central that will lead into 2023. Leading the Rangers will be juniors RB Alex Perch, WR Moses Burk, WR Evan Galley, and DE Kai Preisendorf.

No 18 BAKERSFIELD CHRISTIAN EAGLES (7-5) Lost to Hanford Bullpups 51-28
The Eagles played steady for most of the year with a very tough schedule but never put a win streak together. One of the best players in the Central Section is senior Bryson Waterman and he leaves as one of the best in school history. Some college will be getting one with Bryson.

No 19 SANGER APACHES (6-6) Lost to CVC Cavaliers 20-0
The Apaches played the Cavaliers tough but when you play the best team, you have to play flawless to win. Leading the Apaches is senior RB Jacob Gonzalez. The Apaches have won 575 career games.

No 20 KENNEDY THUNDERBIRDS (9-2) vs Sunnyside Wildcats
(FOR THE DIVISION 3 SECTION CHAMPIONSHIP)
SOUTH SEQUOIA CHAMPIONS

No 21 EDISON TIGERS (6-5) Lost to Bakersfield Christian Eagles 22-21
The Tigers lost a tough one in overtime. The Tigers were one of the most improved teams in the 2nd half. Bakersfield Christian went for the win in overtime because they had so much respect for senior QB Ya’J Vance and the Tigers dangerous offense. Vance will leave as the Tigers all time leading passer in school history with 3,059 yards along with 27 TD passes.

No 22 SUNNYSIDE WILDCATS (11-2) at Kennedy Thunderbirds
(FOR THE DIVISION 3 SECTION CHAMPIONSHIP)
NYL CHAMPIONS

The Wildcats with a big win over Independence and are going for their 1st Division 3 section championship in school history. Sunnyside (Sandbaggers lol) Leading the way is sophomore QB Tanner Wilson who has thrown for 4,310 yards along with 50 TD passes. The Wildcats receivers are very good with sophomores C.J. Jones (114 receptions, 1,507 yards, 16 TDs) Malachi Barnes (83 receptions, 1,188 yards, 16 TDs) and senior Sonjay Burton (52 receptions, 994 yards, 13 TDs).

Leading the Panthers is senior RB Joshua Vega and on defense is junior MLB Kado Felder who has made 172 tackles and junior RB/LB Ryan Brown who made 155 tackles. Look for sophomore QB Trey Morris to take over in 2023.
