FOOTBALL NEWS
Monache Marauders Head Coach Shane Focke is stepping down. Shane has been the HC at Monache since 2019 and the freshmen coach before that. It hasn’t been easy working with PUSD especially when PUSD panicked and shut sports down when the world ended because of the overrated flu. The football program was really hurt when they shut sports down. The Marauders will be in search of a new Head Coach.
Righetti High Warriors Head Coach Tony Payne is stepping down. The Warriors won the Division 5 Section Championship last year. The Warriors will be in search of a new Head Coach.
BREAKING NEWS
Matty J and I are officially no longer doing the PAGMETER Show on Fox sports.
The powers that be tried to censure us from talking about Fresno State, good/bad/ugly.
If we are not free to be critical of things we see for our listeners, then what good is our show.
The PAGMETER show was #1 because we have the greatest audience and you the listeners love our banter, our entertaining hot topic style and of course we were never afraid to tackle the tough story that nobody else would talk about. We are just two guys talking sports, standing up for Coaches, AD’s, Players, Teams, and bringing back COMMON SENSE!
Stay tuned for great things coming very soon for the PAGMETER Show.
We would like to THANK our super team at Fox Sports and our beautiful listeners!

THURSDAY NIGHT FINAL SCORES
DIVISION 1 STATE PLAYOFF PROJECTION
The Central Section Champion could be playing in the NOR-CAL DIVISION 1-A Game
CENTRAL SECTION CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION 1
No 7 CLOVIS NORTH BRONCOS (7-5) vs No 2 BUCHANAN BEARS (9-2)
PAGMETER LINE BEARS -3
The Broncos come in beating Centennial 40-7. The defense played outstanding with 3 picks. QB Mario Cosma went 8-11 for 166 yards and threw 2 TD passes to Vincent Cordoba. Jackson Cinfel rushed for 119 yards and scored 2 TDs. McKay Madsen scored a TD.
The Bears had a bye.
THE PAG FACTOR: The Bears are the home team at Lamonica but decided to take the visiting side. Wait…what?
The Coaching staff made the call that they wanted the same pre-game rhythm and not change it up when playing at Lamonica. If I’m a Bears fan or parent, I’m not happy sitting on the visitor side.
This is a rematch from week 9 when the Broncos beat the Bears 28-21. The Broncos ran all over the Bears and physically beat up the Bears.
The Bears will lead with the best QB in the Central Section QB Jayden Mandel who has thrown for 2,258 yards and 20 TD passes. Red hot RB Michael Runnels has rushed for 1,148 yards and has scored 19 TDs.
The Broncos are playing at another level on both sides of the ball and what can the Bears do differently on defense to not get run over again? This is the REAL BIG X FACTOR. The Bears offense has to be on and might have to win in a shootout if the Broncos running attack is on. How good is the grass field after the rain at Lamonica? If the field is sloppy, look for a lower scoring game.
PAGMETER PREDICTION BRONCOS 34 BEARS 30
FINAL BEARS 37 BRONCOS 24
No 8 CLOVIS COUGARS (5-7) vs No 1 CLOVIS WEST GOLDEN EAGLES (10-1)
PAGMETER LINE GOLDEN EAGLES -21
The Cougars beat Garces in the first round 21-20. The Cougars down 20-0 and battled back in the 2nd half. Freshman QB Deagan Rose threw 3 TD passes. Jacob Saldate caught 2 TD passes and Jaden Carrillo caught 10 passes and a TD. Aaron Wilkins won his first playoff game as a new Head Coach.
The Golden Eagles with a Bye.
THE PAG FACTOR: This is a rematch from week 11 and the Golden Eagles shut out the Cougars 27-0. The Golden Eagles defense played outstanding. The Cougars played 6 straight bad quarters before catching fire in the 2nd half of the Garces game. Golden Eagles senior QB Ryan Markarian got kicked out and he’s out this week so that means junior QB and last year’s Cal Hi All Star Tyler Patrick is back in. With Patrick back in, that will put much more pressure on the Cougars defense because Patrick is a dual-threat QB that can attack the edge. The bye week gave extra time for TP to get back in rhythm with the offense. Senior RB Aidan Fortenberry could get plenty of touches if the field is ugly. If Patrick can do his thing with moving around, that will make the WRs of Marshel Sanders, Landon Wright and JoJo Pierro extra dangerous.
Can the Cougars move the ball against the outstanding Golden Eagles defense? Usually the team that gets crushed in the first game will try to come up with a much better game plan. Stay tuned on that. The Cougars are playing with house money playing in the quarterfinals and not expected to win so they can play loose and have fun. The Cougars have to run the ball to stay in this one.
The Golden Eagles had first choice in picking Lamonica Stadium or Buchanan Stadium to play in and the Golden Eagles picked to play at Buchanan. This year Buchanan has the worst playing field conditions in the stadium’s history. The playing field is horrible and with all the rain, this game could be a low scoring game with plenty of turnovers. Who is the better mudder?
PAGMETER PREDICTION GOLDEN EAGLES 31 COUGARS 7
FINAL GOLDEN EAGLES 24 COUGARS 21
No 6 ST JOSEPH KNIGHTS (10-2) at No 3 LIBERTY PATRIOTS (9-2)
PAGMETER LINE PATRIOTS -7
The Knights beat Clovis East 41-6. This game was over at the coin flip in a complete miss-match. Aaron Fierro scored on a rushing TD and Carter Vargas scored on 2 rushing TDs. Darian Mensah scored a TD and threw a TD pass to Collin Fasse.
The Patriots with a bye.
THE PAG FACTOR: The Knights are red hot and so are the defending Central Section Champions. The big match up is the Knights outstanding offense vs the Patriots outstanding defense. The Knights haven’t played a defense like the Patriots this year so we will see if the Knights are a big time contender. The Patriots are loaded on defense with seniors Grant Buckey OL/DE who will be playing at USC, LB/RB/WR Jalen Hankins, LB/WR Beckom Nielson,, speedster WR/DBKresean Kizzy, K/P Grant Meadors, DB Caleb Risewig, LB Jackson Provensal, DL Max Juarez, DL Daniel Estrada, DB/WR Ermiah Harrison, WR Ethan Mehanke, DB Christan Edwards, DB/WR Xander Chisolm, and WR/DB junior Tejon Fulton.
Can the Patriots offense have a night vs the Knights very good defense? The Knights could have a chance if the Patriots continue to rotate QBs with juniors Jace Nixon & junior Cole O’Brien especially if the game is close in the 4th quarter. O’Brein could be the guy on Thursday night. Outstanding OL/DL Cade Gretlen is hurt and will miss the rest of the year.
PAGMETER PREDICTION PATRIOTS 28 KNIGHTS 21
FINAL PATRIOTS 49 KNIGHTS 13
No 5 CENTRAL GRIZZLIES (7-5) at No 4 MEMORIAL PANTHERS (9-2)
PAGMETER LINE PANTHERS -3
The Grizzlies beat Redwood 48-21 in the first round. QB Dayton Tafoya threw for 349 yards and 5 TD passes.
The Panthers had a bye.
THE PAG FACTOR: The Panthers haven’t played a real football game since beating Edison in the CMAC opener. This is a rematch from week 2 when the Panthers beat the Grizzlies at Central 23-21. The big difference was the Panthers defense and a safety.
The big X factor, can the Panthers win this game with outstanding RB Brandon Ramirez pounding the football and the Panthers defense? The Panthers passing game has been silent in the CMAC for a month. Panthers QB Carson Dean could be huge with the play-action pass especially with 22 eyes on Brando on every play.
Can the Grizzlies defense slow down Brando who has rushed for 1,260 yards and has scored 23 TDs?
Can Grizzlies QB Tayofa stay hot against the top defense in the Central Section?
Memorial field conditions could be a slow track because of all the rain so who has the advantage?

No 8 SANGER APACHES (6-6) at No 1 CENTRAL VALLEY CHRISTIANS (11-0)
PAGMETER LINE CAVALIERS -27
The Apaches beat Paso Robles 21-0 in the 1st round. The defense played their best game.
The Cavaliers had a bye.
THE PAG FACTOR: The Apaches have their hands full slowing down the Caves machine on both sides of the ball. Mr gamer senior QB Max Bakker has thrown for 27 TD passes. RB Bryson Donelson is averaging 12.7 yards per carry and 12 TDs in 5 games. TE/DE Jaeden Moore has caught 12 TD passes and has 9 sacks. TE/DE Zach Zwart has caught 7 TD passes and is outstanding on both sides of the ball and LB Caleb Callison with 58 tackles.
This game is like a little dog in the yard playing with the big dog and running around but eventually the little dog (Apaches) gets pinned by the big dog (Cavaliers) and then game over. The Apaches can hang around for a while if senior RB Jacob Gonzalez and the Apaches offense can move the chains.
PAGMETER PREDICTION CAVALIERS 34 APACHES 7
FINAL CAVALIERS 20 APACHES 0
No 7 FRONTIER TITANS (8-4) at No 2 KINGSBURG VIKINGS (9-2)
PAGMETER LINE VIKINGS -15
The Titans beat Lompoc 49-26. QB Malakhi Statler went 16-20 for 261 yards and 3 TD passes. Devin Cockren scored on 2 rushing TDs and caught 2 TD passes. Mason Tapia caught 6 passes for 96 yards and a TD.
The Vikings had a bye.
THE PAG FACTOR: Can the Titans defense step up and play great against a very good Vikings offense? Leading the Vikings is senior RB Trace Jackson who has rushed for 1,250 yards and 19 TDs. Senior QB Ethan Winslow has thrown for 24 TDs. The WRs are very good with senior Conner McFall (48 receptions for 859 yards & 10 TDs) and senior Caleb Irigoyen who has caught 4 TD passes and scored on 4 rushing TDs.
This game comes down to which defense makes the big stops.
PAGMETER PREDICTION VIKINGS 35 TITANS 20
FINAL TITANS 38 VIKINGS 35
No 6 WASHINGTON UNION PANTHERS (8-4) at No 3 LEMOORE TIGERS (10-1)
CAT BOWL II
PAGMETER LINE TIGERS -28
The Panthers beat Dinuba 15-13. Carlos Bojorquez nailed the game winning field goal with 2 minutes to go. Noah Taylor caught a TD pass from Marquese Glynn and returned a kickoff for a TD.
The Tigers with a bye.
THE PAG FACTOR: This is a rematch from week 2 when the Tigers beat the Panthers in Cat Bowl 1, 56-35.
The Panthers are playing their best defense but so are the Tigers. Cat Bowl 1 was a shootout and both defenses might not let that happen in Cat Bowl II. Can the Panthers slow down one of the best players in the Central Section with senior dual-threat QB Ty Chambers who has thrown for 1,840 yards, 26 TD passes, rushed for 483 yards and has scored 9 TDs.
The Tigers are one of the quietest best teams in the Central Section that teams better start paying attention to.
PAGMETER PREDICTION TIGERS 44 PANTHERS 14

No 5 KERMAN LIONS (7-5) at No 4 KENNEDY THUNDERBIRDS (9-2)
PAGMETER LINE LIONS -3
The Lions beat Santa Ynez 49-3. Freshman QB Adrian Torres threw 3 TD passes.
The Thunderbirds beat Highland 21-7. Jace Demacabalin scored on a 3 yard TD run. Gamiez Helm caught a jump ball 14 yard TD pass from Julian Orozco and Jamison Membreve scored on a rushing TD.
THE PAG FACTOR; this is going to be a battle and both defenses are very good.
The Lions offense has the edge but the Birds are at home. The Lions have not really had a running game except for the running of senior QB Ashton Chalabian. The Lions will go with the Freshman Torres at QB and Chalabian at running back. Teams were starting to load the box because Chalabian loved to run but now with Torres at QB who has a tremendous arm, the Lions now have a balanced attack.
The Birds have won 7 straight games and will need a big night from the offense to win this one.
The Birds defense gives up almost 9 points per game and the Lions have played the tougher schedule. Turnovers could be huge in this game.
PAGMETER PREDICTION LIONS 27 THUNDERBIRDS 20
FINAL THUNDERBIRDS 33 KERMAN 7
No 15 INDEPENDENCE FALCONS (5-6) vs No 7 MISSION OAK HAWKS (6-6)
THE BIRD BOWL
PAGMETER LINE HAWKS -3
The Falcons with a huge win over Porterville 28-7. The Falcons played their best game of the year and the defense had 3 big picks.
The Hawks beat San Luis Obispo 30-25. Junior Kenny Jackson scored on 53 and 30 yard TD runs and caught a 58 yard TD pass from Daniel Gonzalez. Junior Cameron Azevedo scored on a short TD run.
THE PAG FACTOR: Can the Falcons slow down the speedy Hawks offense? The Falcons defense is in your face, physical and can’t give up the big plays. Can the Hawks slow down the Falcons running attack?
Bob Mathias Stadium needs a new field turf. The playing conditions are horrible and slippery.
PAGMETER PREDICTION HAWKS 30 FALCONS 27
FINAL FALCONS 27 HAWKS 24
No 9 ARROYO GRANDE EAGLES (5-7) at No 1 MISSION PREP ROYALS (8-3)
PAGMETER LINE ROYALS -7
The Eagles beat Chavez 27-20. Junior QB Drake Missamore threw 2 TD passes to Damian Santos and Junior Herlihy scored on a rushing TD.
The Royals had a bye.
THE PAG FACTOR: The Royals with a rematch vs Arroyo Grande from week 9 and the Royals beat the Eagles 41-35.
The Eagles offense is playing outstanding so can the defense slow down the Royals offense? The Eagles defense must play better this week vs week 9?
Leading the Royals is senior QB Colby White who has thrown for 19 TD passes and running back is junior Drew Harrigan. Leading the defense is senior. LB Mario Luera.
PAGMETER PREDICTION ROYALS 34 EAGLES 28
FINAL ROYALS 35 EAGLES 14
No 11 SUNNYSIDE WILDCATS (10-2) at No 3 TEHACHAPI WARRIORS (10-2)
PAGMETER LINE WILDCATS -5

The Warriors beat Mt Whitney 37-14. Karson Tiewater rushed for 101 yards and returned the opening kickoff 91-yards for a TD. AJ Anderson rushed for 143 yards and scored 2 TDs. Mike Jones scored on a rushing TD. On defense, Nick Smith made 9 tackles,& 2 sacks, Jones with 10 tackles, Wyatt Richie with 9 tackles.
THE PAG FACTOR: How will the field look with all this rain/snow. Don’t worry Wildcats, the grass is not that tall. Most think the stadium will have tall grass but that’s not true. Check the above photo. The field will be very wet though.
The pressure is on both defenses. Can the Warriors slow down the high flying Wildcats offense? Can the Wildcats defense slow down the physical Warriors running attack? If the Warriors can pound the ball and take time off the clock with long drives with points, that will keep the Cats dangerous offense on the sidelines.
Both teams are so different and this should be a great game and it all could come down to the wet-footing and the Warriors are used to playing on a slow field and the Wildcats love a fast track.
The game time temperature could be around 30-35 degrees.

Can the Hounds slow down the Runnin Stallions because they have not played an offense like the Runnin Stallions all year long.
The Greyhound playing grass field is not going to be good especially with all this rain and it could be a factor.
Both teams will pound the ball and who wins the line of scrimmage?

THE PAG FACTOR: This could be the toughest game to pick in the quarterfinals. The Eagles will have a big crowd and will be fired up. The Panthers will bring in a physical defense so which offense will control the line of scrimmage? If the Eagles can hang around and keep it close heading into the 4th quarter, they have a great chance. The Eagles with a Bye.
THE PAG FACTOR: The Eagles come in with a 3 game losing streak after winning their 3rd game to qualify for the tournament. Outstanding RB Will Henderson didn’t play in week 11 vs CVC and it wouldn’t have mattered since Will was banged up. If Will is healthy, can the Cowboys slow down Henderson?
The Eagles were a solid division 5 team playing a tough schedule but slipped into division 6. This is a tough call if the Eagles shut it down the last 3 games to slide into division 6 or are they banged up with a small roster?

SIERRA CHIEFTAINS (11-1) vs MAMMOTH HUSKIES (9-1)
PAGMETER LINE HUSKIES -14
This game is being played at Lone Pine High School because Mammoth has sooooo much snow. Check out the photo above.
THE PAG FACTOR:Can the Chieftains play great defense up front and slow down the undefeated Huskies running attack? The Huskies are not a big throwing team so they will want to pound it right at you. The Huskies haven’t seen a passing attack like Sierra all year long. Leading the Chieftains is junior QB Aaron Irvine who has thrown for 2,936 yards and 51 TD passes. RB Jeremy Rue has rushed for 928 yards and has scored 11 TDs. Junior WR Logan Kilbert has caught 59 footballs for 1,376 yards and 25 TDs. John J. Mccave has caught 30 passes and 15 TDs,
This is a simple X factor, if Sierra plays good defense they will get a rematch with Fresno Christian next week in the Championship. If Sierra can’t stop the Huskies running attack then the season comes to an end and the score could be 43-29 Huskies.
