PAGMETER FOOTBALL PREDICTIONS WEEK 1, 2021
In 2019, the PAGMETER finished at 85% picking winners. (Record year!) No predictions during the spring. I’m thinking this will be a very tough year (I’m already making excuses) at picking winners because of schools playing the political game of possible players sitting out, teams cancelling games and teams trying to find games on a short week.
Week 1 & Week 2 are the toughest weeks to predict because you really don’t know yet on what teams have.
TO ALL PARENTS, STAND UP TO YOUR SCHOOL WHEN THEY MAKE RULES ABOUT NON-SCIENCE MASKS AND HAVING HEALTHY KIDS BEING TESTED!! NO AND NO!
BE STRONG! REMEMBER THEY NEED YOU WAY MORE THAN YOU NEED THEM!
This is everything you need to know about the California political game we are playing and why some games were and are being cancelled.
Let me know if this makes sense!
So the CDPH has a “guideline” that says if a kid is in a class with someone confirmed positive (while wearing a mask and being within 6 feet away from them for 45 minutes,” that the kid has to quarantine away from extracurricular activities (FALL SPORTS) for 7 days. However, they can still go to classes during the time but can’t play sports. THEY CAN STILL GO TO CLASS BUT CAN’T PLAY FALL SPORTS!
WAIT………..WHAT!!! Think about it, how stupid is that!! It’s ok to be inside in a classroom but not out in the fresh air.
This is why some early games have been cancelled, not because of actual positives but because of a bad interpretation of the exposure guideline rule that some SCAREDY-CAT schools jumped on and a terrible 7-day extracurricular quarantine which is in the CDPH guidelines. It is completely wrong!!
A REMINDER TO ALL SCHOOL AND SCHOOL DISTRICTS, YOU ARE IN THE KID BUSINESS! PLEASE LEAVE YOUR POLITICS AT HOME. SOME SCHOOLS JUST DON’T GET IT.
SO FAR, THE GAMES THAT HAVE BEEN CANCELLED AND WILL NOT BE MADE UP
SELMA vs KERMAN
YOSEMITE vs MENDOTA
ATWATER at MADERA (MADERA IS LOOKING FOR A GAME ON SEPT 24)
ROOSEVELT at IMMANUEL
STRATHMORE vs MIRA MONTE
BISHOP DIEGO at RIGHETTI HIGH

ROOSEVELT at STRATHMORE (FRIDAY NIGHT)
MENDOTA AZTECS at MINARETS MUSTANGS (FRIDAY NIGHT)

THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL FINALS
Madera South Stallions vs Mission Oak Hawks
PAGMETER Early Line Mission Oak -3
This has turned into a very good rivalry. This is a tough call so I will take the home team. The X factor will be the defenses. Can the Stallions slow down senior QB Mike Iriye ? Can the Hawks slow down senior All Star RB Tayte Grantham?
PAGMETER Prediction Mission Oak 30 Madera South 27

FINAL MISSION OAK HAWKS 36 MADERA HAWKS 14
The Stallions had the lead 14-12 at the Half and the Hawks steam rolled in the 2nd half.
Hawks QB Mike Iriye had a night Scoring on runs of 59 & 41 yards and threw 3 TD passes, Kenny Jackson (59 yards & 11 yards) and Kaream Davis (10-yards) and to top it off Iriye nailed a 24-yard FG.
The Stallions scored with Tayte Grantham 28-yard TD run and Angelo Moreno scored on a 10-yard run.
Kerman Lions at Kennedy Thunderbirds
PAGMETER Early line Kerman -2
This game came on late. Kerman was supposed to play Selma, but the Selma administration cancelled so Kennedy stepped up. Kennedy didn’t play spring football and Kerman did play. The Lions defense is the X factor and can they slow down the Birds running game. Lions QB Ashton Chalabian could be the difference maker. This Lions team has the makings to be very good.
PAGMETER Prediction Kerman 29 Kennedy 27

FINAL KENNEDY 45 KERMAN 13
The PAGMETER got sandbagged by Kennedy’s scouting report, LOL. The scouting report, ‘We are not very good right now. Kerman has some outstanding talent on film. Not playing spring ball put us way behind. It’s going to take us a while to get back into Thunderbirds football shape”. PAGMETER fell for it. (Rookie) Just to let folks know, I would have taken Kennedy 38-14 because this is not a good match up for the Lions defense and going against the Birds Wing T early in the year. I though a team playing spring would have had the advantage. (I WAS WRONG) I should have known that the Birds were chomping at the bit to get back out and hit somebody. Job well done T Birds!
Avian Pesina scored on 4 rushing TD’s, Hugo Mora and Drake Sand each scored a TD,

Bullard Knights at Central Grizzlies
PAGMETER Early Line Central -7
The Knights come in with a very good feeling about week 1. The Knights are one of the only few Central Section teams that have beaten the Grizzlies in a a while. The Grizzlies haven’t lost a TRAC game in about 5 year and spring football doesn’t count. The Grizzlies are still the team to beat until somebody beats them. Last year the Knights were loaded but the California political games cut fall football. This year the Knights come in with a very good team and the Grizzlies are not a big team but will have plenty of speed. Both QB’s are making their first starts. For the Knights, junior Roland Russo who transferred in from Clovis North and the Central Grizzlies will have Dayton Tafoya who transferred in from Clovis West. Both QB’s got some valuable experience during the spring.
