Some QB’s didn’t get a chance to play spring football because their school decided not to play.
We will add to this list as we go so if you don’t see your QB on here, reach out to your coaching staff.

HERE WE GO AND THIS LIST IS IN NO-PARTICULAR ORDER, THEY ARE IN ORDER ON A BLIND DRAW SO LET’S MEET THE 2021 QUARTERBACKS
NATE JOHNSON-SENIOR-CLOVIS COUGARS
Nate is clearly one of the fastest & best athletes in the USA and the Cougars are letting their talented QB touch the ball on every play. (Smart Move) Nate is the Lamar Jackson of the Central Section and will run the RPO offense. Nate has improved sooooo much with his passing game and that will make him and the Cougars extra dangerous. If Nate can figure out the cramping issues that hurt him during the spring, the Cougars will be the team to beat, and Nate will be the leader in the clubhouse for PAGMETER Player of the Years. Nate has verbally committed to play for the Utah Utes.
HECTOR DAVILA-SENIOR-IMMANUEL EAGLES
One of the best dual threat QB’s in the state that has a cannon for an arm and with speed. Hector is simply dangerous when he has the football at 6’0, 190lb. The Eagles have a new head coach with Josh Henderson and what a way to start your new coaching job with a very good senior QB to lead. The Eagles offense will be a balance attack that will hope to create explosive plays and Hector is the perfect QB for that offense. Hector only has one speed and that is full throttle but that means the Eagles QB must stay healthy to have a successful year so he must learn to SLIDE and not take the big hit when he can.
JAYDEN MANDAL-JUNIOR-BUCHANAN BEARS
Here is a QB that made a huge leap and thanks to spring ball because Jayden will come into the fall as a season veteran. The Bears went 5-0 in the spring and Jayden was a huge part of the offense and now one of the Top QB’s in the Central Section who runs the Bears offense so well. Jayden is very smart, can make all the reads, a tremendous arm and can move.
TYSON DOZHIER-SENIOR-SHAFTER GENERALS
One of the most dangerous QB’s in the Central Section running & throwing the football during the spring and watch out for the Generals because TD is back and will be even better. The Generals were unstoppable scoring 133 points in five games while throwing for 930 yards and 17 TD’s.
MIKEY BELL-SENIOR-MEMORIAL PANTHERS
Here is one of the best athletic QB’s in the section and he will only get better and better with every snap. Mikey is one of the best baseball players in the Central Section and did not play spring football and instead focused only on baseball. He has never taken a snap, but you would never know that because he’s that good. Mikey will be dangerous running the Panthers offense, has a fantastic arm and will make plays with his legs. He kind of reminds me of former USC/Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer but with a ton of more speed.
Waiting in the bullpen is junior CARSON DEAN along with sophomore BROCK HARRINGTON who transferred in from Buchanan. The Panthers have 3 outstanding QB’s.
TRAVIS PLUGGE-SENIOR-GARCES RAMS
Meet one of the best QB’s in the South valley who is 6’5, 220lb and runs a 4.65 in the 40yard dash. The Rams are loaded and now have a dangerous QB running the offense. By the way, Travis has a cannon for an arm. Keep an eye on the Rams with Travis running the offense.
DAYTON TAFOYA-JUNIOR-CENTRAL GRIZZLIES
Dayton transferred in from Clovis West and is learning the Grizzlies offense and getting more comfortable. He is going to be exciting to watch!!! Dayton has one of the best QB coaches in the state with head coach Kyle Biggs and look for the Grizzlies to get better and better every game. Dayton plays like Russell Wilson with a strong arm, such a quick release, can move around in the pocket and can run. By playoff time, watch out for the Grizzlies!
LEVI MANNING-JUNIOR-CENTENNIAL GOLDEN HAWKS
Levi had a very good spring and reminded me of a younger Golden Hawks Hall of famer Cody Kessler. Levi’s dad played at Utah State, Uncle played a Purdue University, so you know the bloodline are good. Levi is very smart and has a cannon for an arm and can run. Four of Levi wide receivers return so keep an eye on the Centennial Golden Hawks offense!
TRENT CALVERT-SENIOR-DOS PALOS BRONCOS
Trent threw for 2,688 yards and 32 TD passes in his sophomore year and had a good spring so look for Trent to have a fantastic senior year along with the Broncos. With the new playoff format, stay tuned on where the Broncos will end up. Could be division 3, division 4 or division 5.
ETHAN WINSLOW-JUNIOR-KINGSBURG VIKINGS
Ethan is returning after a collarbone injury against Sanger in the early spring season. He is now 100% and when healthy, the 6’2, 170lb is one of the best throwing QB in the Central Section. Remember the name Ethan Winslow.
BRADEN WATERMAN-SENIOR-BAKERSFIELD CHRISTIAN EAGLES
He is 6’4, 205lb who transferred in from the Paso Robles Bearcats last year. Played a few games in the spring for the Eagles. Braden has a great arm and can move. Braden will have the Eagles ready for a long playoff run.
MAX PERRETT-SENIOR–ARROYO GRANDE EAGLES
Returning starting QB for the Eagles and that is huge for the powerhouse Eagles offense. Max will come in as the top power running QB who carries out his fakes so well and can throw on the run.
LAWRENCE STELL-SENIOR-WASHINGTON UNION PANTHERS
Keep an eye on this 6’2 QB because he has a cannon for an arm and has breakaway speed. Stell is ready to lead the Panthers to a Championship run. Stell will put plenty of pressure on the defense with his talent of stepping up in the pocket or running.
MARIO COSMA-SOPHOMORE-ROOSEVELT ROUGH RIDERS
Mario got some valuable experience in the spring and already plays like a veteran QB. Mario who has the makings to be very good and the younger cousin of Central Section record holder QB Trent Tompkins. Mario makes all the reads, has a very good arm and can move around in the pocket.
CARMINE FICHER-JUNIOR-TULARE WESTERN MUSTANGS
Started as a sophomore during the spring and he did a great job. Yes, he is the younger brother of Mikey who was one of the best to ever play at Tulare Western. Little brother is going to be a good one, because he’s a Ficher!! Carmine is big, he’s over 6 foot tall, and has bulked up, he’s a high IQ kid who study’s film on his own time. Offensively the Mustangs will be transitioning to a spread hurry up offense. Carmine has looked great so far and the coaches have put a lot on his plate pre snap, and he has taken this offense and run with it. He is on top of being great in the classroom, strong arm, and isn’t afraid to tuck and run you over.
YAJ VANCE-JUNIOR-EDISON TIGERS
First time in a while Edison has had an athlete at the QB position. 6’0 and is fast. Yaj will get better and better as the season goes on with the more snaps he takes. Has a very good arm and once the games slows down for the junior QB, the Tigers will take off.
JORGE GONZALES-SENIOR-TULARE UNION TRIBE
If the world didn’t end last year Jorge would be going for the all-time passing record at Tulare Union. Jorge’s job is to get the ball in the hands of his athletes, and he does that so well.
ROLLAND RUSSO-JUNIOR-BULLARD KNIGHTS
Rolland got some valuable spring experience and played tremendously for the Knights. Rolland was the sparkplug with the Knights offense especially when the Knights offense needed a boast but had to split time. It’s now Rolland’s turn to show the Central Section that he can lead the Knights. The Knights have missed that for a while. Rolland has a tremendous arm and is getting better at moving around. The Knights are loaded for a good run.
JACOB ROCHA, JUNIOR-REEDLEY PIRATES
Jacob is getting better and better every day and 7 vs 7 really helped during the summer. The Pirates new QB coach is John Swenning and that will really help their junior QB. Jacob has the potential to be very good and to help turn the Pirates team into a championship contender. Jacob is a pure passer and the Pirates have changed the offense around for their young gun. I love to see a team change around the talent instead of the other way around.
MIKE IRIYE-SENIOR-MISSION OAK HAWKS
A Top 5 player that Head Coach Michael Machado has ever had from a leadership and self-motivation level in 18 years of coaching. He can do anything on the field, runs a 4.6 40-yard dash, 3.9 GPA, and multiple sport athlete. Mike can move around so well in the pocket and has a tremendous arm. He’s a jackrabbit that has a very good arm and almost impossible to keep in the pocket.
MAX BAKKER-JUNIOR-CVC CAVALIERS
Max is a gamer, and you can’t teach that. This kid is a leader, and the Cavaliers are in great shape who played outstanding during the spring. Max is an old fashion gun slinger that’s loves making the big play with his arm or his legs. Max plays like a younger Aaron Rodger and will only get better.
JUAN CEJA-JUNIOR-MENDOTA AZTECS
A star is born and get ready for the Aztecs because they will be very good. In his first high school game ever as a sophomore. Juan set a school record throwing for 406 yards vs Dos Palos in the spring. In 2 games he threw 8 TD passes.
VINCENT IGOA-SENIOR-FRONTIER TITANS
Vincent got some tremendous experience during the spring and threw for over 1,000 yds, 70% completion percentage, 9TD’s in 5 games. He can make every throw and does a great job of keeping plays alive and eyes downfield. Great leader and competitor. Keep an eye on the Titans because they had a very good spring.
COLBY WHITE-JUNIOR-MISSION PREP ROYALS
Colby White returns at QB and Royals are very excited about his growth and development. Colby has a very good arm from the shotgun, can run and does a tremendous job in the zone read offense. With his running ability, every defense must respect it and that opens up the offense.
EVAN MOSCARDI-SENIOR-ATASCADERO GREYHOUNDS
The Italian Stallion is ready for a big year after getting some very good experience during the summer. Evan is 6’3, 185lb who has a very good arm and can make plays with his legs.
JACOB RUIZ-SENIOR-WASCO TIGERS
When you run the Wing T offense, it’s always dangerous when you have a QB that understands the offense and the Tigers have Jacob who returns who can sling it and move the chains with his feet.
ANDREW LOPEZ-SENIOR-CHOWCHILLA TRIBE
Keep an eye on the Tribe because they are a hungry team in 2021 and leading the way is their senior leader at QB. Andrew is a coach on the field that can run and throw.
JAKOB REDMOND-SENIOR-BISHOP UNION BRONCOS
Jakob had a great season as a sophomore leading the JV. Backed up Broncos All Star QB Omohundro in 2020 while starting at receiver. The top Broncos athlete is ready to take the offense back for a long playoff run.
CADEN CUCCIA-SOPHOMORE-ST JOSEPH KNIGHTS
Caden got some tremendous experience during the spring that will help for the fall football season. The 4.0 GPA runs the Knights offense with a great arm and speed. Caden will be one of the best QB’s in the Central Section by the time he graduates. Senior QB Mark Crisp tore his ACL during spring ball and could return.
AUSTIN GARCIA-SENIOR-FIREBAUGH EAGLES
Austin can tell his kids someday that he was the Firebaugh Eagles QB just Like Josh Allen. AG has never taken a snap and is ready for a big year working his tail off during the summer. He has a good arm and moves well in the pocket.
FRANKIE ALVAREZ-SOPHOMORE-REDWOOD RANGERS
The Rangers didn’t play spring ball because the Visalia Unified School District simply forgot they are in the kid business. Frankie is fast, has a very good arm and will get better and better with every snap he takes. The Rangers play a tough schedule and this young QB will be ready to lead the Rangers.
CASIMIRO BARRAGAN-SENIOR-DINUBA EMPERORS
Playing spring football really helped this 6’0, 190 lb senior who will step in and lead the Emperors. Look for Dinuba to be much improved from last year and Barragan having a big year.
SAMUEL GONZALES-JUNIOR-SIERRA PACIFIC GOLDEN BEARS
Sammy Boy is a mobile QB with a strong arm and has a high football IQ. The G Bears didn’t play spring football so look for the Bears to get better and better.
JUNIOR CERVANTES-SENIOR-WOODLAKE TIGERS
Junior got some tremendous experience during the spring and has been working hard during the summer. JC will be the team leader for a young team.
CARSON WOODS-SENIOR-LIBERTY PATRIOTS
Carson learned a lot from watching Patriots All Star Haden Mann work in the Patriots offense and now it is his turn. The Patriots will have a big and physical team and Carson’s job, be the team leader. Carson is smart, very accurate, moves around the pocket and knows the offense so well.
SHANE CARR-JUNIOR-SOUTH REBELS
Shane now takes over the Rebels offense and he has a cannon for an arm. Shane is 6’3, fast and the offense will be a wide-open attack. Look for the Rebels to throw for a bunch of yards with their junior QB.
PAUL RODRIGUEZ-SENIOR-SELMA BEARS
Paul is the senior leader that is ready to take over the young Bears offense. Paul can run the ball with power/speed and is a very good play-action QB.
JETT GARCIA-SENIOR-COALINGA HORNED TOADS
3-year starter and captain who is the coach on the field. Jett is the perfect guy to run the Toads offense and has a fantastic arm, can move, and has plenty of receivers to throw too. Love the name Jett for a QB!
CAELEB VARGAS-JUNIOR-AVENAL BUCCANNERS
Caeleb is very good running QB with a with a great arm. The Bucs are an option-team and they have the perfect guy running the offense. The Bucs might just shock some teams this year!
ADRIAN SALINAS-SENIOR-MCLANE HIGHLANDERS
He’s a dual threat QB who can run or throw for new Head Coach Andrew Pancotti. For a new coach coming in, it’s always good to start with a senior team leader.
COLIN HIRSCHKORN-JUNIOR-CARUTHERS BLUE RAIDERS
Colin takes over a young Blue Crew team who has a very strong arm and moves well in the pocket. It’s now time for the Colin Hiirschkorn show for the next 2 years.
FREDDY VALENCIA-JUNIOR-EL DIAMANTE MINERS
The Miners didn’t play spring football because the Visalia Unified School district forgot they were in the kid business, so the Miners have had a long time off. Nothing replicates real live football so look for Miners to get better and better each week. Freddy has a good arm and does a tremendous job in the pocket with keeping his eye down field.
JOSH ROWLETT-SENIOR-EXETER MONARCHS
Josh has been working hard to be the starter and is ready to lead the Monarchs. Clicking at Josh’s heels is sophomore Ruben Ruiz who is the varsity shortstop with the Monarchs baseball team. The Monarchs didn’t play spring football so look for the Monarchs to get better and better during the season. Plenty of seniors can’t wait to get started.
BLAYKE PERRY-SENIOR-SAN LUIS OBISPO TIGERS
A dual threat QB that has a firm understanding of the Tigers offense ever since his freshman year. I’m look for an outstanding year from BP!
JORDAN GALLEGOZ-JUNIOR-STOCKDALE MISTANGS
Started the last 2 games during the spring and the Mustangs found out they got a QB! Jordan is versatile, can run, good arm, very tough and with a High football IQ.
JALEN OATS-SENIOR-STRATHMORE SPARTANS
Jalen is a good old fashion high school player that is a fantastic athlete along with being the perfect teammate. Jalen will play anywhere you need him play. His freshman and Sophomore year he played Linebacker, Fullback and Tight end. The Spartans didn’t play spring football and they will have their 3-sport athlete touch the ball on every offensive play.
ALEX GUERRERO-SENIOR–CLOVIS NORTH BRONCOS
I can’t remember a time ever when a high school has had so many problems with keeping a QB on campus. Clovis North has had 5 quarterbacks quit/transferred out. What is going on!!
Let’s dive in, all before spring Football started…. Outstanding freshman Jack Johnson left for Utah. Junior Rolland Russo left for Bullard. All Star junior Jayden Mandal left for Buchanan and two more simply quit the team. You would think in the world we live in where student athletes transfer because there could be an opening, at Clovis North it’s the opposite.
Meet senior Alex Guerriero who has taken very few snaps but 6’0, 190lb, the Broncos have given him the keys to the offense. The Broncos will be a power running team and not a throwing offense, so Alex needs to keep the chains moving.
Staying down on the JV team is sophomore 6’1, 200 lb Jack Petrissans, who has never taken a snap, very aggressive, and stepping up because the Broncos needed a QB and yes, Jack is the son of former Clovis North Offensive Coordinator George Petrissans who now is the OC for the new Justin Garza Guardians.
JACOB EDWARDS-JUNIOR-MADERA SOUTH STALLIONS
Jacob has a couple of Varsity starts under his belt. For the Stallions to have a big year, Jacob needs to be a game manager who keeps defenses honest with some timely pass completions. Pivotal year for Jacob to demonstrate that he is ready to lead the “Running Stallions”
ASHTON CHALABIAN-JUNIOR-KERMAN LIONS
Started last year and played well and he reminds head coach Dejon Kelly of former Firebaugh Eagles All Star QB Jeshua Gutierrez who broke josh Allen passing record in Firebaugh. Ashton can run who is a 4.7 kid and throws well on the run.
NICKY JOHNSON-JUNIOR-MORRO BAY PIRATES
6’1, 170lb QB started 3 games during the spring and got some valuable experience which he led the offense back trailing by 19 points and the Pirates got the win. Nicky has a High football IG, with a very strong arm and can really move around in the pocket. If there is a sleeper this year at QB, it might just be the Pirates junior signal caller.
JOSIAH DUARTE-SENIOR-SANGER APACHES
As a sophomore, he was suddenly trusted into action in the 3rd quarter in a playoff game vs Dinuba in 2019 when the Apaches lost 3 quarterbacks to injuries. Josiah did a great job and almost pulled off a win. Josiah is a cool customer, not the biggest QB but has a huge heart.
JULIAN OROZCO-JUNIOR-KENNEDY THUNDERBIRDS
The junior lefty was the ace pitcher for the Division 6 Section Champion baseball team. Julian has a fantastic arm and now the Birds can now throw it besides run you over. He has a very good football IQ and athletic.
TYLER PATRICK-SOPHOMORE—RYAN MARKARIAN-JUNIOR CLOVIS WEST GOLDEN EAGLES
The QB battle for the starting job is with Tyler and Ryan. Ryan was the JV QB for the Golden Eagles and Tyler was the backup to Dayton Tafoya who headed west to Central. Ryan is good at game management, good arm and can move around. Tyler is the super athlete in baseball and a future PAGMETER Potential Baseball Player of the Year. Tyler is very athletic, strong arm, can make plays with his legs, speed, and a HUGE competitor. Tyler is the two-sport athlete and I love two-sport athletes! The problem is and it seems like the football season is starting earlier and earlier every year and since Tyler is a future Division 1 College baseball player, he plays plenty of summer baseball and he will miss some practices. Tyler is catching up and now in full football mode and will get better with every snap he takes. One thing I know is playing football/QB will make Tyler an even better baseball player!
LUKE MCFARLAND-JUNIOR—NATHAN MEDINA-JUNIOR LIBERTY MADERA HAWKS
The battle for the job is between a couple of juniors Luke and Nathan. Head coach Mike Nolte needs a coach on the field with his offense and that means, game Management. Luke will make the start in game 1 and stay tuned after that.
BRADY FERMAISCO-JUNIOR—TY MILLER-FRESHMAN CLOVIS EAST T WOLVES
The QB battle for the starting spot and filling the shoes of the City-County All Star Sean Kelly is between Brady and Ty. The key for the T Wolves offense is they need a QB who can lead and move the chains. Stay Tuned.
NICK DELACRUZ-SENIOR-MINARETS MUSTANGS
The Mustangs varsity didn’t play spring ball, but their JV team did. Nick comes in as a senior and will be the leader of the team. Nick is a very good running QB and will have plenty of speedy running backs and wide receivers around him. If Nick can get the passing game working, watch out for the Mustangs.
NOEL BRADY-JUNIOR-TEMPLETON EAGLES
Noel takes over for Tyler Kaschewski who was one of the best to ever play at Templeton. The 6’1, 190lb started on the JV team as a freshman who has a very good arm and had a great summer. Look for the Eagles to change the offense back to the Wing T.
SAMUAL REYES-JUNIOR-LINDSAY CARDINALS
Sam will be making his varsity start and is ready to take over the Red Birds offense. The Cardinals have a junior QB that has a strong arm, can move around in the pocket and is very athletic.
TYE MONTEIRO-JUNIOR-BAKERSFIELD DRILLERS
Tye is one of hardest working QB’s in the Central Section and is ready to lead the Drillers. Tye is a two-sport athlete with also being one of the best wrestlers. Transferred in from Garces and the upside on the new Drillers QB is very high. He has a quick release, strong arm, can move with speed and very accurate.
WYATT RICHIE-JUNIOR-TEHACHAPI WARRIORS
The junior QB takes over the Warriors double Wing T offense. Wyatt is a threat to run the football and will have some Running Backs who have speed and power. The Warriors need Wyatt to be the leader in the huddle and keep the chains moving.
JOSE SORIANO-SOPHOMORE-TORRES TOROS
Someday Jose can tell his kids that he was the first QB to ever start for the new Torres Toros. Jose is 6’0, 180lb, good athlete, good arm and a dual threat that needs to be the leader for the young offense. It won’t be easy with the new teams growing pains, so Jose must be patient during the process and by the time is a senior, watch out.
