PAGMETER DIVISION 2 BASEBALL 2021 RANKINGS TEAM NOTES

No 1 ARROYO GRANGE EAGLES (26-3) 15-3 MOUNTAN CHAMPIONS)
This is one of the most talented Eagles teams in school history. Most of the Eagles have played together since they won the Babe Ruth world series at the age of 13. The lineup is led by seniors 1B Justin Trimble, CF Ethan Royal and 3B Tyler Hamilton. All three have started on varsity since their sophomore years and are elite hitters and overall athletes. Trimble is a UCSB commit and ranked the No1 first baseman in the nation He also hits 90 on the mound. Senior SS Drew Baskin, is the leader in the infield and is committed to play at Willamette University, and C/OF Sam Calder will be key contributors as well. The pitching staff is led by Zach Silva, Kaden Tynes and senior pitcher Carson Gomes who is committed to play at Oklahoma Wesleyan University. Keep on eye sophomore catcher Ryan Tayman who can really swing the bat. Junior Niko IKenoyama is another player to keep an eye on.

No 2 MADERA COYOTES (16-16) (5-10 CMAC)
The Coyotes will be real good by playoff time playing a tough schedule. The Coyotes have some players playing football and must stay healthy to contend. The pitching staff will be led by seniors: Nate Martnez, Nate Palacioz and Evan Candelaria. On offense look for senior David Monge to lead the attack. Keep an eye on senior David Zavala, along with junior Logan Wattenbarger.

No 3 EL DIAMANTE MINERS (21-8) (12-2 WYL CHAMPIONS)
The Miners can beat anybody and off to a good start. Players to watch are (P) Ryder Hartman, Colton Montgomery, Austin Beno, Cole Yoshida, Arix Rios, Freshman Keynen Gomez, Rider Hartman Mikey Ramirez and Clayton Hulsey.

No 4 PASO ROBLES BEARCATS (19-)9 (12-6 MOUNTAINS)
The Bearcats are a very good team and has some outstanding talent. Leading the way is junior (RHP/3B) Carson Turnquist, who has a verbal commit to Oklahoma. Junior (OF/IF) Bryson Hoier has a verbal commit to LMU. Senior (OF/LHP) Jakob Wright, verbal commit to Cal Poly. Senior (1B) Chase Stratman has a verbal commit to Depauw. This is Solid group, with depth, will be competing for a Division 2 section championship this year and next year.

No 5 FRESNO HIGH WARRIORS (20-6) (14-1 NYL CHAMPIONS)
The Warriors are the 2021 scrappy team of the year. They simply get after it. I love the offense because they attack the baseball, and it is great to see. I thought attacking the baseball was a lost art, but the Warriors make me believe again that players can be aggressive at the plate! One of the best leadoff hitters in the central section is lefty Paul Marshall who gets the party started and will also pitch. The No 3 hitter Kai Young will get plenty of RBI’s. Erick Lopez, Raymond Celaya and Waldo Rodriquez can swing the bat. The Warriors ace is Julian Lopez. The Warriors will battle for another NYL championship along with a Division 2 section championship. Jason Papi, dad/legend coach Ken and the staff do a fantastic job keeping the Warriors baseball program booming! This year the Warriors schedule is tough, and they will be battle tested for a long playoff run.

No 6 EDISON TIGERS (11-18) (7-8 CMAC)
Head coach Cliff Rold would play the Los Angeles Dodgers if he could. You never go by the Tigers record because they play the toughest schedule. The Tigers are a blend of youngsters and veterans led by senior’s Eleazar Aguirre, JJ Padilla and sophomore Warren Vercher on the mound. The Tigers are hoping for the return of sophomore centerfielder and Oregon commit Trevor Wilson to the lineup to compliment junior Elijah Moultrie who’s committed to San Jose State. Catcher Mike Fung should return soon to the lineup as well, seniors Elijah Campos, and Isiak Perez will be called upon to provide needed leadership as the Tigers continue to do battle. Tigers are beat up with injuries and it’s a great time for the young Tigers to step up.

No 7 HANFORD BULLPUPS (13-16) (8-7 WYL)
The Bullpups always will play you tough and leading the Bullpups will be junior pitchers Gabriel Magallan, Derek McNary and Zayvien Silvestre. Leading the offense will be Dominic McLaughlin, Felix Bravo, (will play next year at McPherson College in Kansas) Chris Clement, Victor Tamayo, and Landon Dodd.

No 8 SANGER APACHES (13-17) (3-12 CMAC)
The Apaches will be another team that will only get better as the season goes with some young players. Juniors Andrew Herrera and Joey Rodriguez are the top 2 pitchers, and they can both swing the bats. Senior Shortstop and 4-year varsity player Mason Lopez is another guy starting the year off well offensively. Junior Tiz Moreno can play anywhere, can hit and pitch. Freshman pitcher and hitter Jesus Cerda has been a shot in the arm for the Apaches.

No 9 HIGHLAND SCOTS (12-5) (10-0 SEYL CHAMPIONS)
The Scots graduated plenty of talent from the best team they have ever had. Leading the way will be senior Antoine Cleveland.

No 10 TEHACHAPI WARRIORS (9-8) (7-2 SYL)
Leading the way will be senior pitcher Jake Tye.

No 11 TULARE UNION TRIBE (8-20) (7-7 EYL)
The Tribe will be young. Stay tuned on the Tribe.

No 12 BAKERSFIELD DRILLERS (3-16) (0-14 SWYL)
The Drillers will be much better this year and leading the way will be junior Jake Rimmer, and sophomore Sebastian Alvidrez.

No 13 MT WHITNEY PIONEERS (12-13) (5-10 WYL)
The Pioneers will be very young and leading the Pioneers pitching staff will be Aiden Carney, Eddie Vinegas, J.T. Guerrero and Matthew Debock. If the Pioneers swing the bat….watch out!

No 14 SUNNYSIDE WILDCATS (5-19) (5-9 NYL)
The Wildcats numbers are down this spring. Head coach Jared Thompson and his staff are doing everything they can to build a program but it’s tough when you don’t have very many players.
