DIVISION 1
No 4 BULLARD KNIGHTS (9-3) at No 1 CENTRAL GRIZZLIES (12-1)

The Knights come in beating Clovis 47-21. The Knights had a 41-0 lead before shutting it down. The Knights finally unleashed one of the top backs in the section with Shalom Welch who had a big night scoring 4 TD’s. The best athlete on the Knights Kai Sunamoto, stepped in at QB and did a great job leading the offense.
The Grizzlies crushed the Wolf Pack 56-10. Jameson Silva, threw 4 TD passes. Jeremiah Hunter, caught 3 TD passes (13 & 4 & 7 yards) and Xavier Worthy caught a 43 yard TD pass. Jeremiah now has 47 career TD’s, tied for 2nd most in Central Section history.
The X factor the Knights right now might beat Buchanan and Liberty but beating Central is a tough task. It’s nice to see the Knights getting back to Bullard football on offense. For some reason the Knights thought they were a zone read offense and the Knights don’t have the zone read QB.
Yosek Fares is now running the offense and this offense would be dangerous against any other team in the section but Central. The Grizzlies are a machine on both sides of the ball.
For the Knights to win;
They can’t miss tackles, Welch has to go off, they must get plenty of turnovers and get off to a huge start. Avoid the silly penalties. Avoid the big Grizzlies play. Even then the game will be close.
For the Grizzlies to win;
Play steady Grizzlies football on both sides of the ball and pound the ball with Quali Conley. CONLEY RUSHED FOR 149 YARDS

No 3 LIBERTY PATRIOTS (10-2) at No 2 BUCHANAN BEARS (10-2)

This is a rematch from week 4 and Buchanan won 19-17. It was a big night for Cade Uehling who scored on a short pass and took it down the sidelines for a 75-yard TD, also sprinted up the middle for a 73-yard TD run. Brandon Hernandez with a 4-yard TD catch in the back of the End zone from DJ Stevenson. Patriots kicker Brayden Blevins, hit the crossbar on FG attempt that would have made a huge difference in the game.
Last week the Patriots beat Clovis West 38-14. Dylan Tooker had a night, returned an interception 20 yards for a TD, scored on an 82-yard kickoff return for a TD, scored on a 19-yard TD run at QB.
The Bears beat up Bakersfield 43-7. Ian Kirby went 16-23 for 257 yards and 3 TD passes.
The X factor Kendall Milton didn’t play in the first game and Cade Uehling took over instead. Patriots QB Haden Mann played but was not 100% with a bad ankle.
Fast forward to the Semifinals, Kendall is back along with sophomore QB Ian Kirby who gives the Bears a passing attack dimension that they haven’t had in 2 years.
The Patriots QB Haden Mann, is out and is suffering from bursitis in his knee. The Patriots will go with JV QB sophomore Carson Woods. Woods started slow in the Clovis West game and the Patriots are asking a lot from their future QB. The Patriots defense is real good but the offense will not have enough.
Last year the Patriots beat the Bears in the semifinals when Brayden Blevins, nailed the game winning 38-yard FG as time expired. The Patriots have to keep it close heading into the 4th quarter to have a chance.
For the Patriots to win;
Can’t let Milton bounce. Must play great Patriots defense. Control the clock and avoid the big play. Woods can’t turn the ball over. Has to keep the game low scoring. Can the Patriots slow down the run or pass? Ian Kirby threw for for 303 yards on 11-19 passing and 3 TD passes.  
For the Bears to win;
If Kendall gets off to a great start, that opens up Kirby and the play action pass. Get the Patriots 3rd and long.

No 5 TULARE WESTERN MUSTANGS (11-2) at No 1 HANFORD BULLPUPS (11-1)

This is a rematch from week 6 and the Bullpups won on a Thursday night 36-28. Juaron Watts-Brown threw for 359 yards with 4 TD passes and scored a TD. Tyler Mello (10 & 3 yards), and Taryn Rubalcava (45 & 78) each caught 2 TD passes.
Mustangs QB Elijah Burrell threw for 294 yards and 2 TD passes but 4 big interceptions killed the Mustangs. Mark Smith (20 yards) and Tairyn Johnson (49 yards) each caught TD passes. Johnson rushed for 120 yards on 31 carries. With all the Mustangs turnovers they still had a shot to win the game.
The Mustangs come in beating Dinuba 47-10. Junior Mikey Ficher, stepped in at QB, rushed for 134 yards on 9 carries. Scored 2 TD’s on runs of 17, 20 yards, returned a punt for 61 yard TD, & threw a TD pass. Mikey also has set a Central Section Record by returning 4 interceptions for TD’s in one season. Tairyn Johnson, rushed for 158 yards and is now over 4,000 yards for his career. He has school records for rushing yards and total TD’s (58).
The Bullpups beat Garces 33-20. Freshmen Brandon Ramirez, rushed for 132 yards and scored a TD.
The X factor you have some new QB’s taking over for each team. Mustangs Mikey Ficher is the guy at QB for senior Elijah Burrell, who is out with a bad shoulder. Bullpups senior QB Juaron Watts-brown is a game time decision if he plays. If Juaron can’t go, it will be senior Cason Whitney who stepped in and has done a tremendous job at keeping the Pups train on the track.
Which QB will have the bigger game? The Mustangs can’t afford to turn the ball over like in the first game vs Hanford and expect to win. Mikey needs a big game. Mikey scored 2 big TD’s.
For the Mustangs to win;
Avoid the turnovers. Ficher must carry out his fakes at QB. Can’t get 3rd and long. Play outstanding defense. TW trailed at the half 21-6.
For the Bullpups to win; avoid penalties. Control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.

The Knights come in beating Redwood 28-21. Devin Guggia, scored 4 TD’s and the Knights defense came up big all night long.
The Panthers beat up Stockdale 42-13. Junior QB Finn Collins, threw for 295 yards & 3 TD passes. Mac Dalena had a career high of 203 yards with 8 receptions & 2 TD’s including a 90-yarder on a screen pass. Junior Jordan Hornbeak, rushed for 180 yards on 15 carries & scored a TD.
The X factor can the Knights keep the magic going with playing great football?
Can the Knights defense slow down the red hot Panthers offense?
For the Knights to win;
Control the clock with long drives and finish with points. Devin Guggia, needs another huge game with long drives. Come up with some big turnovers and can’t miss tackles. Can’t give up the long TD.
For the Panthers to win;
Must slow down the Knights running game. Avoid the silly penalties and turnovers.

The Tigers come in beating Madera 49-28. Emilio Corona, went 16-21, for 301 yards & 6 TD passes, rushed for 71 yards. Max Soltero, caught 7 passes for 117 yards & 2 TD’s. Carson Leedom, caught 4 footballs, for 89 yards & 3 TD’s. Jeremy Fitz, scored 2 TD’s. Thomas Cole,
With 5.5 sacks & /11 tackles. Landon Nelson, had 13 tackles.
The Eagles beat Lemoore 49-7. The Tigers were short handed and the Eagles took advantage. David Stevenson, rushed for 101 yards and scored 3 TD’s including a 30-yard pick 6. The Eagles played out of control, had 7 personal fouls and Pag Meter All Star Ben Yurosek was kicked out but the good news for the Eagles, Big Ben won the appeal and will play.
The X factor Emilio Corona and the Tigers offense has to play at a real high level. THEY DID NOT.
For the Tigers to win;
Corona has to have his best game yet against a speedy defense. Control the clock. Can’t miss tackles at the line of scrimmage and can’t give up the big play. Keep the game close heading into the 4th quarter. THE EAGLES DEFENSE WAS REAL GOOD WITH 6 INTERCEPTIONS.
For the Eagles to win;
Get off to a great start. The Eagles are like Sharks, once they smell blood, they will crush you. Avoid penalties.

The Cavaliers come in beating Kingsburg 29-22. Tyce Griswold, hit Logan Jacobi, on a 14-yard TD pass and the game winner. Dirk Nelson, came up with a huge interception late in the game.
The Blazers beat Highland 40-15. Lonnie Wessel, rushed for 162 yards scored a TD on 25 carries. Michael Wessel, scored 4 TD’s including a 53-yard TD run.
The X factor is the Cavaliers defensive line and can they slow down the Wessel’s?
For the Cavaliers to win;
Has to slow down the Wing T. Get the Blazers 3rd and long. The offense must finish drives with points.
For the Blazers to win;
Can’t get way behind and can’t get 3rd and long. Has to play great defense and control the clock.

Porterville beat Chavez 40-6. Hector Nava Jr. threw for 339 yards & 3 TD passes, rushed for 87 yards on 11 carries & scored a TD. Isaiah Ellis caught 8 passes for 158 yards, with a TD, rushed for 130 yards on 17 carries, & scored 2 TD’s.
Washington Union beat North 42-13.
The X factor this game comes down to the defensive side of the ball. Who will make the big play on defense? Both offenses are on fire. Who ever has the ball last will win. WU HAD THE BALL LAST AND LAWRENCE STELL SCORED THE GAME WINNING 5-YARD TD WITH LESS THAN 30 SECONDS TO GO.  
For Porterville to win;
Offense has to play lights out. Defense has to tackles and force turnovers. Has to keep it close heading into the 4th quarter. Nava has to go off.
For Washington Union to win;
Has to avoid turnovers and silly penalties. Darius McCray and Asonii McDowell has to stay hot running the football.

The Bears beat Wasco 42-7. Aaron Olivares, rushed for 134 yards and scored on a 3 yard TD. Aaron Moreno, rushed for 116 yards. Zach Zarate, scored 2 TD’s. Joey Ramirez, threw 3 TD passes, Aaron Blancas, (36 yards), Brandon Johnson, (32 yards) and Aaron Moreno (50-yards) each caught TD’s.
The X factor is Wing T vs Wing T and all eyes will be the defensive front seven. The other big key is the Bears can throw the football at will and the Birds only throw if needed.
For the Birds to win;
If the Birds can beat Templeton, they can beat Selma. The defense has to play at a very high level and avoid turnovers.
For the Bears to win;
Can’t get 3rd and long. Has to win the line of scrimmage. Ramirez has to play a fantastic game.

Win the line of scrimmage and play physical defense.

The Badgers beat Madera South 35-21. With the scored tied at 21-21, the Badgers wore down the Stallions in the 2nd half.
The X factor is the Badgers defense is better than the Broncos defense. The other X factor is the Badgers will bring pressure with a cover zero defense. That means man to man defense against the Broncos passing attack. The Broncos might hit some big plays. Can the Broncos defense step up?
For the Broncos to win;
Hit the big play vs the man to man Badgers defense. Avoid the turnovers. Must play a great game on defense and run the ball. TYREE MARTIN RUSHED FOR 329 YARDS!!
For the Badgers to win;
Has to wear down the Broncos struggling defense. Must make tackles vs a speedy Broncos offense. THEY DID NOT. THE BRONCOS RAN ALL OVER THE BADGERS.

The X factor is the Cardinals offense vs the red hot Broncos defense. For the Cardinals to have a great bus ride home they can’t afford big penalties and turnovers.
For the Cardinals to win;
Has to play great on defense and run the ball on offense.
For the Broncos to win;
Offense has to finish drives with points and avoid silly penalties.

The Ravens beat Sierra Pacific 18-6. The Golden Bears came in red hot on offense and the Ravens shut them down.
The X factor the Ravens defense is real good and fast but can they handle the big and physical Cardinals? Cardinals will give up plenty of points.
For the Cardinals to win;
MUST play great defense! THEY DID!
For the Ravens to win;
Has to slow down the Cardinals running machine. The Ravens offense must have a hot night.
