THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL FINALS

CMAC
Madera South Stallions (3-3) (0-1) vs Edison Tigers (2-4) (1-0)
Pag Meter Line Edison -21
The Stallions come in beating Mission Oak 21-14. Tayte Grantham, Isaiah Tyler and Marvin Brewer each scored TD’s. The Tigers come off a bye after beating Dinuba in double OT 35-27.
The X factor is the Stallions defense vs the speedy Tigers offense. The Stallions offense has to have a great night running the football and keeping the clock ticking.
This is division 5 vs division 1. How in the world is this possible?? Come on CIF and do the right thing and get Madera South out of the CMAC. It’s not fair for both teams!!
If Madera South beats Edison, it would be the biggest upset ever in valley history. In baseball this year, division 5 Minarets beat division 1 Clovis North 6-2 in the biggest upset ever but in football it would be off the charts bigger.
Pag Meter Prediction Edison 42 Madera South 21

FINAL EDISON 40 MADERA SOUTH 23
This game was a lot closer than the final score. The Stallions were down 27-20, had the ball late and driving but a fumble and Edison scored 2 quick TD’s…

EAST YOSEMITE
Monache Marauders (1-5) (0-1) at Tulare Union Tribe (5-1) (1-0)
Pag Meter Line Tulare Union -25
The Marauders come off a bye.
The Tribe get a big shutout win over Bakersfield Christian 18-0. QB Jorge Gonzalez threw 2 TD passes to Willis James and Gonzalez scored on a 2-yard TD run. The Tribe defense took care of business.
The X factor is the Marauders going up against the real good Tribe defense.
Pag Meter Prediction Tulare Union 39 Monache 14

FINAL TULARE UNION 40 MONACHE 3
John White scored on a 22-yard TD run, KJ Daniels sprinted 79-yards for a TD. Jorge Gonzalez threw 3 TD passes and scored a TD. Jordan Guerrero (35-yards), Julian Espinoza (12-yards) and Willie James (35-yards) each caught TD passes. James also picked off 2 passes.

NORTH YOSEMITE
Sunnyside Wildcats (2-4) (1-0) at McLane Highlanders (2-4) (0-1)
Pag Meter Line Sunnyside -25
A tremendous early NYL game to get it going.
The Wildcats come off a bye and the Highlanders lost to Dos Palos 46-21. Freddy Catano threw 3 TD passes.
The X factor is the Wildcats are loaded with speed, talent and should win the NYL every year. The Wildcats defensive line is very good!
Pag Meter Prediction Sunnyside 38 McLane 13
FINAL SUNNYSIDE 41 MCLANE 0

TRAC
Central Grizzlies (6-0) (1-0) at Buchanan Bears (3-3) (0-1)
The Bear Bowl
Pag Meter Line Central -6
The winner will be in the driverseat to win the TRAC. No 1 vs No 2 and it has to be played on a Thursday night.
Both teams come off a bye.
The Grizzlies will be tested for the first time this year facing the best defense they will see all year.
The Bears have played a killer schedule.
The Grizzlies are led by senior QB Jameson Silva who has thrown for 1,027 yards and 16 TD passes. Jamo has it figured out and is playing catch with his speedy receivers with Jeremiah Hunter (17 receptions, for 289 yards, 3 TD’s) and Xavier Worthy (15 reception, for 327 yards, 7 TD’s). Teams have been focusing on the best receiver in the section (Hunter) and Worthy has taken off. The running back is Quail Conley who can run it (475 yards rushing, 4 TD’s) and can catch it (15 receptions, 7 TD’s). The Grizzlies O-line and Defense are very good.
The Bears should have Kendall Milton back from injury but if he doesn’t play or goes down again the Bears will have junior Cade Uehling at RB. The Bears’ defense is real good and leading the way will be (SS) CJ Jones, (DB) Darrien Gaines, (DB) Tamar Archie and (DL) Matthew Merritt. The Bears offensive line is real good with Shane Pond, Merritt, Zane Rix, Kasen James and Okey Egbuziem.
The X factor is the Bears passing game because it’s still a work in progress. QB DJ Stevenson, is the huge X factor just like every game the Bears play. DJ has to run the zone read to perfection for the Bears to win. The Bears will win games with a tremendous defense, outstanding offensive line but will not beat the Grizzlies without a passing attack. If the Bears can complete some passes….we got a ball game.
Last year the Grizzlies beat the Bears 42-24 and the Bears had the fantastic offense with Milton, speedster Brock Jones, who is now at Stanford and the most dangerous player in the state with Jalen Cropper who is now at Fresno State but decided not to use Jones or Croppr all year long. WHAT A MISTAKE!
Of course you are going to say…Hey Pag Meter, the Grizzlies had Trent Tompkins last year and don’t this year. True but this Grizzlies team is just as dangerous with the offense they are running. The Grizzlies have been starting slow and then by the 3rd quarter …BOOM The offense comes alive! The Bears have to keep it close heading into the 4th quarter.
The Grizzlies have won 18 straight TRAC games and the last loss in the TRAC was on October 12, 2015 when Buchanan beat Central 17-13. This should be a low scoring game with the two best defenses in the section but that being said, watch it be a shootout.
Pag Meter Prediction Central 21 Buchanan 14

FINAL CENTRAL 41 BUCHANAN 20
The Grizzlies have now won 19 straight TRAC games.
With the score tied at 20-20 in the 3rd quarter, DB Sean Haymon returned a 52-yard pick 6 and the game winner. Jameson Silva hit Xavier Worthy on a beautiful 79-yard TD bomb and the backbreaker to make the score 34-20. Quali Conley scored on a 4-yard run. Xavier Worthy scored on a 19-Yard run. Ja’kob Jones, with 4-yard TD run. Jameson Silva went 20-25 for 269 Yards, and 2 TD’s passes.
For Buchanan, DJ Stevenson scored on a 23-yard TD run and then hurt his shoulder and didn’t play in the 2nd half. Kendall Milton rushed for 86 yards on 16 carries and scored 2 TD’s on runs of 2 and 23 yards.

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS FINALS

CENTRAL SEQUOIA
CVC CAVALIERS (4-2) (1-0) at Dinuba Emperors (3-3) (0-1)
Pag Meter Line Dinuba -19
A huge game to start league play.
CVC comes off a win over Mission Prep 62-35. Jaalen Rening, rushed for 189 yards and scored 4 TD’s, now has scored 8 TD’s in 2 games. (Has played only the first half in both games) Tyce Griswold threw 2 TD passes, (Ethan Hansen and Caden Riezebos each caught a TD). Mason Haworth scored 2 TD’s.
The Emperors come off a bye.
The X factor is the Dinuba defense because they will give up a ton of points and now will face the best back in the section with Rening. Emperors QB Josh Magana has to have a big game for the Emperors because the Cavaliers will score a ton. If the CVC defense plays a good game then they will win on the road. Dinuba is a dangerous team but you never know who will show up.
Pag Meter Prediction (Upset pick) CVC 37 Dinuba 35

FINAL CVC 35 DINUBA 34

Selma Bears (5-1) (1-0) vs Hanford West Huskies (1-5) (0-1)
Pag Meter Line Selma -35+
The X factor is this is not a good matchup for the Huskies facing the red hot Bears. Can the Huskies slow down QB Joey Ramirez and the running backs of Adam Rodriguez and Aaron Blancas?? What a great group!
Pag Meter Prediction Selma 55 Hanford West 6

FINAL SELMA 49 HANFORD WEST 0

CMAC
Memorial Panthers (5-1) (1-0) vs Bullard Knights (4-2) (0-1)
Pag Meter Line Bullard -3 (Bullard Homecoming)
Last year this game was over at the coin flip. SJM jumped out 42-0 in the 1st quarter and shut it down at the half. The final score looks pretty good at 62-20 but it wasn’t that close.
SJM comes off a bye after holding on and beating Clovis East 20-17. The defense came up with some big stops. QB Finn Collins, threw 3 TD passes, Mac Dalena (13 & 29-yards) and Jalen McMillan (78-yards) caught TD passes. Collins stats are awesome and has now thrown for 1,250 yards with 15 TD passes.
The Knights come in beating Arroyo Grande 28-21 in OT. The Knights were down 21-7 at the half and played much better in the 2nd half. Shalom Welch scored on a 2-yard TD run. Daizon Allen caught the tying TD pass from Bryce Weiner and Kai Sunamoto caught the game winning TD pass in OT from Weiner.
The X factor can the Knights wear down the Panthers and can the Knights passing game get more consistent?
SJM doesn’t have a big roster but what they have is REAL GOOD! Knights RB Shalom Welch and the O-line has to have a good night to wear down the Panthers. The Knights passing attack is so night and day, you just can’t count on it yet.
A big match up will be the explosive Panthers offense vs the speedy Knights defense.
The Knights can’t afford to give up the big play, especially with Dalena and McMillan.
The Knights have the team to win at Ratcliffe but has yet to play their best game. The Huge X factor and it’s every week for the Knights is QB Weiner. Panthers QB Collins, doesn’t move around in the pocket and the Knights defense needs to come after him. Keep an eye on outstanding SJM running back Jordan Hornbeak, who has rushed for 675 yards and has scored 7 TD’s. Hornbeak is real good!
Everybody forgets the Panthers can pound the ball when they need to and has a real good defense. This game is tough to call with so many X factors. Look for the Knights to play a much better 1st quarter compared to last year.
Pag Meter Prediction Bullard 30 Memorial 27

TRAC
Clovis East T Wolves (3-3) (0-1) at Clovis Cougars (4-2) (1-0)
Pag Meter Line Clovis -3
Both teams come in from a bye. The last time the T Wolves beat the Cougars was in 2009.
The T Wolves Wing T running attack is led by running backs AJ Hodgerney and Jo’Nation Dejohnette.
The Cougars offense is good with QB Isaiah Robles, WR Grant Lake and the dangerous sophomore Nate Johnson.
The X factor is the Cougars defensive front vs the Wing T. Can the Cougars defense force the T Wolves to throw the football? Clovis East is a terrible throwing team and to win CE might just have to throw it over hand. If CE can run the ball with long drives, the Cougars won’t have a lot of chances to score.
The good news for Clovis East is they slowed down a very good Memorial Panthers offense and that will give them confidence! This is a good old fashion rivalry and anything can happen. Lamonica will be rocking!
Pag Meter Prediction Clovis 27 Clovis East 24

FINAL CLOVIS 24 CE 21

Clovis North Broncos (5-1) (0-1) vs Clovis West Golden Eagles (3-3) (1-0)
Pag Meter Line Clovis North -3
Both teams have had 2 weeks to get ready for this showdown.
Throw out that the Broncos are 5-0 and the Golden Eagles have played the tougher schedule …this is CN vs CW week so strap it up!
The Broncos are playing smart football with plenty of speed all over the place and they have a decision to make at QB. Go with senior Trenton Luera or junior Garrett Jones who came off the bench, played 3 quarters, throws 328 yards and 5 TD passes in the win over Ridgeview. Do the Broncos have good old fashioned QB controversy? Trenton is steadier and sometimes to tentative and Jones is the gunslinger who will make the great throw and then the next play throw a screen right to the defensive end. The Broncos have a red hot receiver with Brandon Lemee and nobody is talking about one of the best running backs in the section with senior Roman Rodriguez who is fast, and will run you over. Roman runs like he’s 220lb’s. One of the best punt and kickoff returners in the section is RBWR Michael Jacot.
For the Golden Eagles it starts with the running game and leading the way is senior Brandon Wafer. CW was very successful running the ball until teams figured out the Golden Eagles struggled throwing the football and then teams started loading the box.
The X factor is Clovis West QB Bradley Senneway and he’s going to have to hit some big passes to win. Can the Broncos QB play consistent?
Last year’s Clovis West head coach George Petrissans is now at Clovis North along with new head coach Mike Jacot. This game will have plenty of emotion on both sides of the ball!
