CENTRAL SECTION CHAMPIONSHIP

Taylor Hardin RBI Single knocked in winning pitcher Sydney Hornbuckle and the game winner in the bottom of the 6th inning. Sydney finished the playoffs throwing 26 scoreless innings and gave up just 3 hits and struck out 9

Kingsburg Vikings 12 Hanford Bullpups 8
With a 4-4 tie, the Vikings put together an 8 run inning to go up 12-4. Back-to-back RBI doubles from Brianna Vela and Madison Alves. Mia Estrada – the game’s winning pitcher – added to the Kingsburg’s lead with an RBI single and Carla Duarte later knocked in a run with a single of her own. In her 2nd at-bat of the inning, Marissa Gonzalez, hit a 3 run double.

WP Helen Hayes with 13 K’s and hit a HR. Sadie Hatman led off the 6th with a single, Hayes walked and an Aryan Meyers sacrifice bunt moved the runners up. Senior Kassy Opferman singled in a run and a single by Krista Witten drove in the final 2 runs

STOCKDALE MUSTANGS
The Mustangs had a magical year winning the Central Section Championship and finished the year as the No 1 team on the final Pag Meter Rankings. The Mustangs finished the year with a 27-5 record and also the SWYL champions at 14-1. The Mustangs will be ready for a 2020 challenge with ace Sydney Hornbuckle back in the circle
PAG METER PLAYER OF THE YEAR
SYDNEY KUMA, Senior, Washington Union Panthers
Sydney started the year as the Pag Meter, Fresno Grizzlies Hot Stove league player of the year and she backed it up with a tremendous senior year. Sydney won the Hat Trick and was a huge part of 3 Panthers Championships. In the fall the Panthers Volleyball team won the Division 5 Section Championship and also the Division 5 State Champions, scored 34 goals on the year and the Panthers won the Division 5 Section Soccer Championship, fired a 1-hitter with 13 K’s and the Panthers won the Softball Division 4 Section Championship. Now that’s a senior year!!
Kuma hit 13 home runs on the year (school record), led the section with home runs, tied a section record with 2 other players by hitting 37 home runs in her career and was walked 106 times, 2nd most in section history. Kuma finished her career hitting .626, 154 runs scored, 149 hits, 126 RBI’s, 38 doubles and 16 triples. As a pitcher, 51-13 record, 446.1 innings, 728 strikeouts. Next stop will be at the University of Georgia playing softball
PAG METER CO-PITCHERS OF THE YEAR
SYDNEY HORNBUCKLE, Junior, Stockdale Mustangs
What a fabulous career so far for the Mustangs Ace who fired a 3-hitter in the Central Section Championship game beating Bullard 1-0. Sydney went 19-3 on the year with a 0.43 ERA in 145 innings and 157 K’s. Sydney finished the playoffs throwing 26 scoreless innings. In her 3 years, Sydney’s overall ERA is 0.66, 56-9 record, and 415 Strikeouts.
Sydnie can also swing the bat hitting .529, 14 doubles, 4 homers and knocked in 28 runs. Sydney has already verbally committed to play at Colorado State
JANESSA JASSO, Senior, Dos Palos Broncos
Janessa will go down as one of the greatest pitchers in Central Section history. This year she finished with a 24-3 record with 0.58 ERA while striking out 329 batters in 169 innings.
Jasso finished 2nd all time in the Central Section with 1,109 career strikeouts, (Marissa Marzan, Bullard with 1,122 K’s has the record from 1998-01.) 86-11 career record. 6th most all time in wins. Next up for the 2nd team MaxPreps All-American, will be pitching for Iowa State University
PAG METER SMALL SCHOOL PLAYER OF THE YEAR
ASHLEY DAUGHETY, Senior, Templeton Eagles
The Eagles power pitcher helped the Eagles win the Division 3 Section Championship beating Dinuba 3-2 pitching a complete game 2-hitter with 14 strikeouts. Ashley finished the year going 16-5 with a 1.14 ERA. In 147 innings pitched, she struck out 298 batters. Ashley ended up with 1,076 strikeouts, the 3rd most in section history. Next up will be pitching for Texas A&M
PAG METER COACH OF THE YEAR
AMANDA HOCKETT, Stockdale Mustangs
Coach Hockett has built a powerhouse at Stockdale. The Mustangs played fantastic from day one with pitching, hitting and especially on defense. This Mustangs team was so well coached with great fundamentals. The Mustangs finished the year as the Central Section Champions at 27-5 and Coach Hockett’s first title. Watch out for the Mustangs again in 2020!
PAG METER OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
EMILY CAZARES, Junior, Buchanan Bears
Will go down as one of the best hitters in Central Section history. Hey young softball hitters, if you want to learn how to hit, just watch Emily Cazares at the plate. There is none of that silly practice swing where the bat hits her backside. No…just a pure left handed thing of beauty! Emily finished the year hitting .486 with 5 doubles, 8 triples, 10 stolen bases, scored 32 runs, 8 home runs and knocked in 20 runs while being one of the best center fielders in the state. Emily has already verbally committed to play at Tennessee
PAG METER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
EMMERSON LEE, Junior, Bullard Knights
Best defensive player in the valley hands down! Bullard’s Gold Glove winner ended the year with a 980 fielding %. Making big play after big play all year long at both 2nd and 3rd base. Emmerson hit 361 with 35 hits 7 doubles 18 RBI’s, 6 walks, 7 stolen bases and 1 HR.
Next up will be playing for the University of Central Florida

KEY-ANNAH PU’A, Freshmen, Nipomo Titans
Keep an eye on Pu’a the next 3 years because she can hit and pitch. She hit .393 with 3 doubles, 2 triples, 5 home runs, and 17 RBI’s. In the circle she finished with 1.66 ERA in 118 innings. (170 K’s)

RYLIE ATHERTON, Junior, Central Valley Christian Cavaliers
The Cavaliers are the division 6 Section Champions and they had to play in one of the toughest leagues in the state with teams like Kingsburg (Division 2 Champs), Hanford (Division 2 runner up), Dinuba (Division 3 runner up) Hanford West (Ranked in the Final Pag Meter Rankings No 12 team) Exeter (2018 Division 4 Champs) Selma (Division 3 power) and CVC held their own and was battle tested for the Playoffs. Against those teams, Rylie finished with a 0.86 ERA in 154 innings pitched. WOW! Rylie fired 4 No-hitters and also threw a 2-hitter in the Championship game at Fresno State. Watch out for 2020 because Rylie’s senior will be fantastic!
HELEN HAYES, Senior, Kern Valley Broncs
When you played the Broncs you better be ready to swing the bat because Hayes can bring it. The overpowering ace went 19-2 with a 1.02 ERA. In 137 innings she struck out 263 batters and helped the Broncs win the Division 5 Section Championship. At the plate she hit .462 with 11 doubles and knocked in 36 runs. Helen will go down as one of the best ever at Kern Valley
PRYA BURNS, Senior, Redwood Rangers
The WYL All Star was the Central Section leader with 18 doubles. Hit .467 with 2 triples, 8 homers, scored 41 runs and knocked in 29 runs
ANEESA ALMAGUER, Sophomore, Fowler Redcats
What a tremendous sophomore year for Aneesa who hit 10 home runs! She hit .416 with 12 walks and knocked in 36 runs. Aneesa will be breaking plenty of Redcat records the next 2 years
KAILYN CASTLE, Sophomore, Monache Marauders
She had a fantastic freshman year and even a better sophomore year. The Marauders lead off hitter hit .603 with 9 doubles, 4 triples, 1 homer, scored 35 runs knocked in 19 runs. The EYL All Star was also the closer and didn’t make an error the entire year playing center field and shortstop
JALYSSA LEDESMA, Sophomore, Fowler Redcats
Another young Redcat star with a huge year hitting .447 with 15 doubles, 2 triples, 2 homers, scored 37 runs and knocked in 40 runs
MELINA ANGUIANO, Senior, Bullard Knights
Led the Knights into the Championship game at Fresno State but came up short in a 1-0 loss to Stockdale. Melina threw 5 shutouts, 122 innings pitched with 116 K’s and finished with a 1.32 ERA
BROOKLYN BLACKMON Sophomore, Exeter Monarchs
The Monarchs ace had another big year throwing 152 innings and had a 1.75 ERA pitching in the real tough Central Sequoia league. Last year Brooklyn went 19-6 as a freshman so the Monarchs are in great shape for the next 2 years in the circle
SARAH SHEVENELL, Junior, Liberty Madera Hawks
The Hawks ace will have her team ready for a Fresno State run in 2020. She went 22-6 with a 1.07 ERA. In 151 innings Sarah struck out 207 batters. At the plate she hit .364
JASMINE GORMAN, Sophomore, Garces Rams
Big sophomore year hitting .411 with 13 doubles, 12 stolen bases, 26 RBI’s, scored 31 runs and hit 4 home runs
ARYSSA DANELL, Junior, Hanford Bullpups
The Bullpups ace finished with a 16-3 record and 1.07 ERA. The Bullpups will be very good again with their ace back in the circle in 2020
BAILEY DOHERTY, Junior, Atascadero Greyhounds
The Greyhounds ace was outstanding pitching and hitting. In the circle she went 20-2 with a 0.89 ERA. 174 innings pitched with 276 K’s. At the plate Bailey hit .390 with 6 home runs and knocked in 25 runs. Watch out for the Greyhounds in 2020
AVERY LAWLEY, Junior, Buchanan Bears
The TRAC All Star hit .417 with 6 doubles and knocked in 20 runs. Avery will come into 2020 as one of the best players in the section
JENNA AHART, Senior, Bullard Knights
The team leader and had one heck of a career for the Knights. 3-year starter and a lifetime .350 hitter. The clutch hitter all year long finished with 7 doubles 1 triple, and 3 home runs.
ALEXA GARCIA, Senior, Dinuba Emperors
Huge senior year hitting .564 with 13 doubles, 3 homers and knocked in 30 runs
TALIA NIELSEN, Senior, Liberty Patriots
Outstanding career for the Patriots and the unlucky pitcher of the year. Talia pitched in so many games when the Patriots offense didn’t show up for her. Talia finished with a 14-7 record with a 1.00 ERA in the circle. 251 strikeouts in 153 innings
XIAO GIN, Junior, San Luis Obispo Tigers
The Tigers ace went 9-5 with a 1.02 ERA. 110 innings pitched with 179 K’s. At the plate she hit .500, walked 19 times with 6 doubles
MARISSA GONZALEZ, Sophomore, Kingsburg Vikings
Runner up for Pag Meter Offensive player of the year. The sophomore Star led the section with 54 RBI’s. Marissa hit .500 with 7 doubles, 2 triples and hit 11 home runs. Watch out Central Section records because Marissa might just own a bunch of them
CLAIRE BUCKLEY, Senior Buchanan Bears
the TRAC Offensive Player of the Year was a very tough out hitting .400 with 9 doubles, and knocked in 19 runs
TAYLOR HARDIN, Senior, Stockdale Mustangs
The senior leader was a tremendous outfielder and clutch hitter for the Central Section Champions. hit .451 with 8 doubles and 37 RBI’s
ELISE ONTIVEROS, Junior, Independence Falcons
Elise had a real good junior year hitting .460 with 6 doubles, 2 triples, 3 home runs, scored 48 runs, 24 stolen bases and knocked in 31 runs
ALYSSA ORR, Junior, Clovis North Broncos
The Broncos ace and watch out for her senior year. She also hit .413 with 6 doubles, 7 triples, 4 home runs, walked 19 times and 31 RBI’s
ALLISON HEFFLEY, Senior, Hanford West Huskies
Outstanding career for the Huskies and one of the best catchers with a cannon for a throwing arm. Always a tough out and the next stop for Allison, will be catching at Harvard!!
KRSTEN MARTINEZ, Senior, Dinuba Emperors
The Emperors ace went 16-5 with a 1.27 ERA. At the plate she hit .354 with 6 doubles and a homer
ELIZABETH MOFFITT, Freshmen, Clovis North Broncos
A star is born and the Pac12 & SEC teams are already paying attention. She hit .398 with 9 doubles, 2 triples, 4 homers and knocked in 19 runs
ALLIE PUENTE, Junior, Clovis Cougars
The TRAC Pitcher of the year will have the Cougars ready for another Central Section Championship run. Allie came on strong in the 2nd half and finished with 15-5 record. 1.52 ERA with 206 K’s in 138 innings. At the plate she hit .319 with 4 doubles, 3 homers and 25 RBI’s
PAYTON QUINONEZ, Sophomore, Mission Oak Hawks
Hit .528 with 3 doubles, 3 triples, 16 stolen bases, led the Central Section in scoring runs with 53
MICHELLE KROELL, Senior, Buchanan Bears
The Bears ace had a fantastic year going 15-2 with a 0.48 ERA. When Michelle was in the circle, the Bears could beat anybody! Next stop for the TRAC All Star will be pitching softball at Friends University in Kansas
RYLEE PRICE, Sophomore, Independence Falcons
The super 2nd baseman hit .519 with 14 doubles, 3 triples, 3 homers, scored 24 runs and 34 RBI’s
KAITLYN HORNBUCKLE, Junior, Stockdale Mustangs
The leader behind the plate Hit .430 for the Section Champions with 7 doubles, scored 34 runs and 20 RBI’s. Her senior year she will come in as the top catcher in the Central Section
TARYN IRIGOYEN, Sophomore, Kingsburg Vikings
Outstanding defensive 3rd baseman for the Division 2 Section Champions. Hit .493 with 13 doubles and knocked in 23 runs. The Vikings have a real good one for 2 more years
JAIDEN RALSTON, Freshmen, Paso Robles Bearcats
The Bearcats ace for the next 3 years went 18-5 with 1.15 ERA. In 152 innings she had 199 strikeouts
MIA REYNOLDS, Sophomore, Tulare Union Tribe
The Tribe is set for the next 2 years with Mia pitching. This year she had a 1.18 ERA in 172 innings with 277 K’s. At the plate she hit .413 with 5 doubles
MADDISON SERVADIO, Senior, Mission Oak Hawks
Always on base hitting .484 with 16 doubles, 3 triples, 2 homers, scored 27 runs and knocked in 44 runs
MADDY ARNOLD, Sophomore, Clovis Cougars
One of the best young hitters in the state and another Cougars star on the rise. She hit .358 with 9 doubles, 2 homers, walked 17 times and 18 RBI’s
PAIGE STERLING, Freshmen, Caruthers Blue Raiders
Huge Freshmen year hitting .537 with 9 doubles, 3 triples, 3 home runs, scored 34 runs, 11 stolen bases and knocked in 44 runs. Any team in the Section would love a player like Paige!
JORDAN HEAD, Senior, Frontier Titans
One of the best powerful hitters in the section. Her average was .505 with 7 homers and 37 RBIs. Next stop will be Cal State Bakersfield
HEATHER AYERZA, Junior, Clovis North Broncos
A TRAC All Star for 3 straight years and one of the best slap hitters in the section hitting .405. Heather was always on base with plenty of speed for the Broncos hitters. Her senior year will be exciting!
SIERRA PHELPS, Senior, Lemoore Tigers
The San Diego State Aztec can flat out run! She hit .467 with 6 doubles, 4 triples, 1 homer, and 19 for 19 in stolen bases. For a team that struggled to score runs, the Co-WYL MVP was always on base and playing in the tough WYL
EMILE HERNANDEZ, Senior, Redwood Rangers
Emile had a great career at Redwood! The Co-WYL Player of the year hit .458 with 9 doubles, 1 triple, 8 home runs, and knocked in 37 runs
CAITLIN DECANIO, Sophomore, Clovis Cougars
Hit .386 with 5 doubles, 2 home runs, and knocked in 16 runs. Caitlin will only get better!
SADI HARTMAN, Senior, Kern Valley Broncs
Outstanding career for the Division 5 Section Champions.
She finished hitting a cool .500 with 9 doubles, 4 triples, 8 home runs, scored 49 runs and knocked in 40 runs
JAZMINE CASTANEDA, Junior, Bullard Knights
The San Diego State commit can hit and pitch. She hit .396 with 13 doubles, 5 home runs and knocked in 23 runs. In the circle she threw in 11 games, with 3 shutouts in 69 innings, 97 K’s and a 1.00 ERA. Next year the Knights will be tough with Jaz in the circle full time
CORINNE ACOSTA, Senior, Exeter Monarchs
Hit .423 with 7 doubles, 7 triples and 18 stolen bases. Corinne last year broke the Central Section single season hit record with 73 hits breaking Nikki Schrey of Edison in 2005 section record of 71
RACHEL KESSLER, Senior, Buchanan Bears
One of the best defensive players in the section at Catching and 1st base with a tremendous throwing arm. The City-County All Star, Buchanan valedictorian and a 3-year starter was a lifetime .350 hitter. Next stop will be playing softball at the Colorado School of Mines
IZZY NIEBLAS, Senior, Stockdale Mustangs
Outstanding career for the Section Champion Mustangs. She hit .434 with 12 doubles and knocked in 27 runs. Next stop will be playing at the University of Maine
SIERRA CORTEZ, Sophomore, Tulare Western Mustangs
The EYL Player of the Year had one heck of a season and the Mustangs have a very good player the next 2 years. The speedster hit .500 with 7 doubles, scored 32 runs and 27 for 27 in stolen bases. She also threw 67 innings with 2.06 ERA
KADYN SMITH, Sophomore, Bakersfield Christian Eagles
The Eagles ace finished with a 2.40 ERA in 157 innings. 195 strikeouts and 3 No-hitters. At the plate she hit .487 with 7 doubles, 1 triple, 9 home runs and knocked in 39 runs. The Eagles are in great shape the next 2 years

The senior leader was clutch with a beautiful swing hitting .360 and was always on base

What a year for the junior Shortstop hitting .608 with 10 doubles, 4 triples, scored 35 runs, 8 home runs and knocked in 39 runs. Now that’s a year!!

She would be an All Star in any league. She hit .551 with 11 doubles, 8 triples, 2 home runs, scored 29 runs, walked 18 times, 33 stolen bases and knocked in 31 runs

Led the Rams in hitting with a .416 average. Hit 13 doubles, 2 homers, 26 RBI’s and scored 29 runs

Outstanding year at the plate hitting .500 with 27 stolen bases, scored 32 runs and 7 doubles

The future Toads star hit .391 with 3 doubles, 1 home run, scored 21 runs, and knocked in 17 runs
EMILY JUAREZ, Senior, Hanford Bullpups
Emily leaves her mark at Hanford High School by being one of the finest hitters in school history as she had 122 career hits, 102 runs scored & 68-73 in stolen bases as she played 112 games in 4 seasons
JESLYN CUELLAR, Freshmen, Tulare Western Mustangs
A star is born hitting .471 with 4 doubles, 2 homers, scored 30 runs and 33 RBI’s
ANNA REED, Junior, Mission Preps Royals
The Royals will be very good in 2020 with their pitcher back in the circle. She finished with 1.56 ERA. In 119 innings she had 240 K’s. At the plate she hit .424 with 5 doubles

Went 8-0 with a 1.98 ERA. Got the win in the Division 2 section championship game

The CMAC All Star outfielder hit.441 BA, with 7 doubles, and 3 Triples
Last year she set the school’s single-season batting average record, hitting .513 and also set the school’s career batting average record at .474
KAMIELLE POWELL, Freshmen, Central Grizzlies
Will be so good by the time she graduates. Facing the best teams and played with a team that struggled to score runs, Kamielle finished with a 2.01 ERA. 132 innings pitched with 156 K’s
PRESLEY HOSICK, Freshmen, Liberty Patriots
The SWYL Rookie of the year after hitting .500 with 4 doubles, 13 stolen bases and 2 triples

Hit .381 with 10 doubles, 4 homers and 29 RBI’s
KAMERYN CORDOVA, Freshman, Fowler Redcats
The Redcats are the favorites to get to Fresno State in 2020 and it starts with their Ace in the circle. Kameryn had a fantastic freshman year finishing 17-5 and got a huge win over the No 1 seed Dos Palos Broncos with a complete game shutout. She finished with 1.75 ERA in 137 innings with 144 K’s
TAYLOR JOHNSON, Freshmen, Clovis Cougars
She will be one of the best by the time she graduates. She hit .321 with 7 doubles, and knocked in 15 runs
JULIANA FLORES, Senior, Dinuba Emperors
Hit .405 with 12 doubles, and knocked in 30 runs
