Playoff Time For Central

The Central Grizzlies are 10-0 and have taken home the TRAC championship. Central also is the number one seed in the playoffs and will take on No.9 Edison in the quarterfinals. Both teams have faced each other once already, and Central won 35-7 during the first game of the season. However that was previously 2 months ago and now both teams have improved.

For Central they are coming off as one of their worst defensive performances all season 2 weeks ago against Clovis East. They allowed over 300 yards on the ground and 38 points which is the most any team has put up on them. The Grizzlies defense knows it did not play its best 2 weeks ago and will play with a chip on their shoulder Friday night. Centrals defense has been great all year and also has a lot of talent on defense, but the 3 senior leaders Tyrell Grayson, Noah Gonzales, Silas Proby, are the backbone of this defense.

Grayson has been great all year he is vocal and can play multiple positions offense and defense has great size and is receiving some D1 interest. Gonzales is a playmaker and game changer, he can make tackles and big time hits, also he is receiving D1 interest. Proby has great length, he can play man to man and zone can lockdown any receiver and is also receiving D1 interest. All three seniors are next level talent they may not have the stars but they have skills and talent.

The Grizzlies have a great defense but they also have a load offense. Senior QB Trent Tompkins has thrown for over 3,000 passing yards, 47 touchdowns, and 4 rushing touchdowns, 600 rushing yards. Tompkins 47 TD passes are most touchdown passes in a season ever in the central section. Trent has been receiving interest from a couple of school but still no sign of Fresno State, Coach Tedford is missing out on a winner! For Tompkins the offers don’t matter to him right now, his goal has been to win another section title and road for another championship will start Friday.

Jeremiah Hunter Tompkins go to has been one of the best receivers in the valley with 22TD over 1,000 receiving on 63 catches. Hunter already has a couple off offers and one from Fresno State. Central will be looking to move on to the semifinals for Coach Biggs “We want to be 1-0 every week. If we are 1-0 every week we are taking care of business and were doing what we need to be doing.”

The X-factor for Edison is running the ball all game long and control the tempo in this game. For Central, get off to a fast start and run defense needs to be key. Come watch No.9 Edison taken on No.1 Central at 7pm @ Koligian Stadium.
