Timberwolves Heat Up

Following an emotional overtime loss to Clovis High last week the boys water polo team turned their attention to the Clovis West Golden Eagles on Tuesday. Earlier this season, the Timberwolves fell 11-5 to the Eagles, and that meant time for revenge. And oh is revenge sweet. The Wolfpack would steal an early 6-1 lead over CW and would not step off the gas. Leading the way were seniors Cameron Frazier (4 goals, 2 assists) and Jacob Sill (5 goals). The Timberwolves would go on to defeat the Eagles 11-8 and move to 14-7, 2-5 in TRAC.
Girls water polo also looked to get back into the win column after they dropped one to Clovis last week. The Wolfpack stole a victory earlier against Clovis West, and tried to do the same on Tuesday. Like all of their games, this one was back and forth, and needed some overtime to settle it. Late goals by Kena Waters and Emily Adams would seal the win for the Lady Timberwolves, 8-6. The Wolfpack would improve to 15-5 on the season and jump into 2nd place in the TRAC (4-3).
Last Friday the football team tried to scrape together their first TRAC win since 2009 against the Clovis North Broncos. A victory would also be the school’s first ever win against CN. Fumbles would be the headline of the 1st quarter with the T-Wolves coughing up two and the Broncos one. But with 7:36 left in the 2nd, senior Ryan Hunt would punch one in from 7 yards grabbing a 7-0 lead. A stop by the defense would give some time for the offense to march down the field. 13 seconds left on the clock and Carlos Macias would double the CE lead to 14-0 going into the half. A scoreless 3rd would leave one more quarter for the Wolfpack to seal the deal. But a Bronco touchdown would stall the celebrations making it 14-6. However, and interception by Bryan Martinez seemed to capture a win, but another touchdown would take the breath out of the Clovis North sideline. On Homecoming, the Timberwolves would break the 41 game losing streak by defeating CN 21-6. The Timberwolves will look to continue the winning trend this Friday as they welcome the Clovis West Golden Eagles to Lamonica Stadium. It is the PINK OUT, so put on some pink and watch some Friday Night Lights! Kickoff is at 7:00pm.
