If CVC wins, they are in the driver seat to be the CSL Champion and the possible No 1 seed in the division 4 playoffs so this is a huge game for the Cavs.
If the Vikings win they are getting a high seed in the division 3 playoffs and will also be in the driver seat to win the CSL.
Both teams come in winning last week. CVC beat Dinuba 21-7. Jaalen Rening took the opening kickoff back for a 94-yard TD, also caught a 71 yard TD pass from Eric Dragt and the defense played outstanding. The Cavaliers snapped a 9-game losing streak to Dinuba. The Cavaliers have won 5 straight since the ugly loss to St Joseph 42-6.
Senior quarterback Eric Dragt has thrown for 817 yards and 12 TDs. Junior running back Jaalen Rening has rushed for 514 yards.
The Vikings offense steam rolled Exeter 52-30. Kingsburg went into halftime leading 45-0. QB Jett Jackson threw for 2 TD passes and scored on a TD run.
The Vikings have also won 5 straight since the early loss to powerhouse Memorial 42-28. Memorial is much more dangerous on offense than CVC so the Vikings should not be intimated. The X factor can the Vikings defense stay with the Cavs offense?
The Vikings offense is real good since QB Jett Jackson has taken over. CVC has averaged 39.4 points a game and Kingsburg 44.4. If Jett and brother Bo Jackson both go off then the Vikings will be 6-1.

Just when the Emperors start to roll, they fall off their bike. Dinuba comes in losing to CVC 21-7.
The Bears beat Hanford West 77-46. It’s the 2nd highest Selma point total and 2nd-highest combined game total in the 119-year history of Bears football. Selma scored 42 points in the 2nd quarter to go into halftime up 56-26. Adam Rodriguez rushed for 166 yards on 17 carries and scored a TD. Aaron Moreno rushed for 105 yards on 6 carries. Aaron Blancas scored 3 TD’s, rushed for 91 yards on 7 carries.
The X factor is the Emperors defense is real good against run and I’m guessing the Emperors are coming in pissed off. Dinuba is a very streaky team.

The X factor is as always…the Huskies defense. HW just gave up 77 points in the loss to Selma. The Huskies have plenty of speed on offense but just can’t tackle anybody.
Exeter gave up 52 in the loss to Kingsburg. The Monarchs trailed at the half 42-0.
The X factor the Monarchs defense is a tad better than the Huskies defense.
The Monarchs have the makings to be a pretty good team but making way too many mistakes.

CLOVIS WEST GOLDEN EAGLES (0-6) (0-1) at BUCHANAN BEARS (4-2) (0-1)

The Golden Eagles can’t buy a break. They haven’t won a game and the last 2 losses were by a total of 4 points and both went down to the final seconds…And now they will play a pissed off Bears team.
Buchanan has also lost the last 2 games but the Bears are on a different level vs CW.
The X factor is this is a bad matchup for Clovis West and I see this game getting out of hand. The Bears will be in a bad mood after the last 2 weeks. The Bears defensive front is the best in the valley and leading the way is Matt Merritt. The Bears sacked Trent Tompkins 8 times and Trent can move so I’m thinking the Grizzlies will be chasing Golden Eagles QB Dante Chachere all over the yard. Can the Golden Eagles defense slow down the Bears running attack with RB Kendall Milton, QB/WR Jalen Cropper and Slot back Brock Jones? I’m thinking no!
Bears sophomore DJ Stevenson had a breakout game against Central throwing for 274 yards and 2 touchdowns.
The Bears might start slow with a De La Salle and Central hangover but the Bears and Golden Eagles are a great rivalry each other.

CLOVIS COUGARS (5-1) (1-0) at CENTRAL GRIZZLIES (6-0) (1-0)

The Cougars continue to win week after week and the Cougars keep proving people wrong.
The Cougars come in beating Clovis East 27-20. It was 27-0 starting the 4th quarter. Jonathan Johnson scored 2 TD’s and one of the best defensive backs in the valley Cristian Loera finally saw some action on his side of the field and he picked off a pass and took it back for a TD. QB Isaiah Robles also scored on a TD run.
The Grizzlies started slow and then rolled to 42-24 win over Buchanan. Trent Tompkins went 15-20 for 309 yards with 5 TD passes. Jeremiah Hunter had 5 receptions for 120 yards and scored 2 TD’s.
The X factor is the Grizzlies will come in with a semi hangover and will start slow again. Wait…the Grizzlies start slow every week.
The big difference is just like last week against the Bears, Central has Trent and Clovis doesn’t. The Grizzlies will bring plenty of pressure against the Cougars passing attack. The Cougars will throw plenty of screens and quick passes and has to be on vs the Grizzlies defensive speed.
If there is a flaw with Central it’s the offensive line and the Cougars defensive front is real good.

CLOVIS NORTH BRONCOS (2-3) (1-0) vs CLOVIS EAST T WOLVES (3-3) (0-1)

The Broncos come in getting a big double overtime win over CW 42-40. It’s the 2nd straight overtime game for the Broncos. They lost at Ridgeview 20-14 in week 6.
The T Wolves played horrible for 3 quarters and lost 27-20 to Clovis. Ryan Hunt scored on a TD run and Chandler Hamilton scored on a 80-yard run. For the T Wolves, they haven’t won a TRAC game since November 12, 2009 when they beat Madera 35-28 ( yes Madera played in the TRAC in 2009). 41 straight losses and this is the best chance of breaking the streak. CE matches up well against CN but they have to get off to a great start.
The X factor can the T Wolves play well for 48 minutes instead of 12 or 24 minutes? If the T Wolves can..the TRAC losing streak of 41 games could come to an end. I’m think the T Wolves will play the same type of game like they did when they beat Sanger. Loooong drives!
The Broncos are getting better and better each week and do not want to be the team to snap the CE losing streak.

The X factor is the team that can finish drives with points and fewest turnovers will win. Both offenses are very streaky. This is a tough call because nobody knows if the Highlanders will be healthy for this game??

The Rough Riders are red hot and if it wasn’t for some bad calls in Kerman, the Riders would be 6-0.
The Patriots are improving every minute and they will bring it for 48 minutes.
The X factor is the Riders are also improving every minute and now the offense has caught up to the fantastic Riders defense.

This should be a real good game. It’s the running attack of the Tigers vs the spread attack of the Coyotes.
The X factor is the defensive side of the ball. The Tigers RB McKinley Lee III should get the ball plenty. Coyotes QB Colt Nelson will do his thing and get the ball to his playmakers.
Both defenses are very streaky and this could be a shootout. It’s hard to trust the Coyotes defense.

This is the 39th meeting and the Knights lead the series 23-15. The Knights beat the Apaches twice last year. 27-6 and 21-14 in the playoffs.
The Knights always match up with the Apaches but this year is much different for the Knights on offense and it’s time to bring back the Knights offense and get back to using the Knights athletes and they have plenty with running backs, Marcus Fulcher and Shalom Welch , receivers Kai Sunamoto, Carter Anderson and Dre Greeley. The New QB is sophomore Bryce Weiner and he has potential to be real good! Soon Bryce will have a breakout game. Could it be at Chuck Shidan Field?
The Apaches know what they are on offense and they are running the ball right at you with some very good running backs with Kosi Agina, Noel Collazo, Dolce Calandra, Morgan Privett, Davis Ayala and Orlando Douglas who scored 3 TD’s in the win over Madera 36-33.
The X factor is the Knights offense and if they do get back to Knights football they can win….if not, zero chance.
For all you coach Arax haters, make no mistake about it…Don Arax has done an amazing job at Bullard and has built a first class football program from the ground floor. If Arax was not at Bullard, the Knights would be a division 3 program by now. It’s that simple. One of the hardest working coaches in the state. If the Knights tinker with the offense a bit….watch out next year for the Knights because they have talent in the pipeline.

The X factor the Drillers will be without QB/S Cameron Williams after injuring his knee last week at Stockdale. How will the Drillers QB look?? This changes everything and the Rams have a shot if they play defense and don’t give up the big play. If the Drillers turn the ball over, the Rams will hang around. The Drillers play great when they are the heavy favorites but we all know the Drillers are all about the QB play.

This is a huge game for both teams. Both teams would love to be 3-2 in the SWYL. Both teams are not beating Liberty or Bakersfield so that leaves the other teams wide open with Garces, Frontier and of course both of these teams.
The X factor is the Golden Hawks have to forget about the beat down to Liberty and same goes for the Mustangs getting crushed to Bakersfield. The G Hawks defense has to step up to win.

Sophomore QB Chad Leslie had a career night by throwing for 355 yards with 6 TD passes.Receivers Gavin Gamble had 5 catches for 213 yards and scored 4 TD’s, Jayson Littlejohn caught 5 footballs for 142 yards and scored 2 TD’s. RB Adam Antuna rushed for 170 yards and scored 2 TD’s.
The X factor is the Golden Bears have to come in with a expecting to win attitude because they can win this game. Can the Golden Bears defense slow down the Spartans running attack? If they can…they will win.

The Tigers just knocked off the defending state champion Strathmore Spartans 38-20. Damian Hernandez went 18-23 for 245 yards and 2 TD passes.
The X factor is the Tigers have played the much tougher schedule and with a win they will coast to the East Sequoia championship. Can the Panthers defense step up vs the Tigers outstanding offense?

The X factor is the Marauders are a good team but don’t match up against the Tulare Union Tribe. TU beat Monache 35-0 last Friday. Then again not too many teams match up against Tulare Union.
Leading the way for the Marauders will be RB Aidan Galvan who has rushed for 968 yards and has scored 16 TDs.
Mission Oak lost to Porterville 33-14 and now have lost 5 straights games.
The X factor is the Marauders matchup much better vs the Hawks.

The X factor is the Panthers defense because this is the best offense that they will have seen until they play Tulare Union. The Panthers are a 4th quarter team and in this game the Panthers can’t get way behind and expect to comeback against a very good Mustangs team. The Panthers have had 3 great comeback wins over Dinuba, Redwood and Hanford. TW is clearly light years better than Dinuba, Redwood and Hanford.

St Joes beat the Eagles throwing the ball. Righetti High beat the Bearcats throwing the ball. The Bearcats play much better at home.

The game plan to beat the Warriors is you have to try to slow down the run and force them to pass because the Warriors are so good up front with a very good offensive line and outstanding running backs. Well that game plan won’t work because the Warriors can now throw the ball. Logan Mortensen threw for 252 yards with 2 TD passes in the win over Paso Robles 52-20 in his 2nd start ever. Both TD passes went to Chase Reynoso, 39 and 59 yards. Adan Solis rushed for 165 yards and scored 3 TD’s. The Warriors are now even more dangerous on offense because they now can throw.
The X factor the Warriors defense is also real good.

The X factor is the Tigers defense needs to step up.

The Minarets Mustangs are a very good on offensive team. The Mustangs come in beating Parlier 49-46. Junior QB Martin Urroz threw for 425 yards and 5 touchdowns passes. Red hot Preston Conti caught 9 passes for 200 yards and scored 3 touchdowns.
The Blue Raiders come off a bye.
The X factor is the Mustangs offense is real good and the defense is really struggling. Can the Mustangs tackle Chris Puga who has rushed for 799 yards and has scored 17 TD’s.
