THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL FINAL
EAST SEQUOIA
Farmersville Aztecs (0-7) (0-3) vs Sierra Pacific Golden Bears (3-3) (1-1)
Pag Meter Line Sierra Pacific -35+
The X factor is the Golden Bears offense because the defense is real good.
Pag Meter Prediction Sierra Pacific 44 Farmersville 6 (SP 60 FARMERSVILLE 22)
FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS FINALS
TRAC
Buchanan Bears (4-2) (0-1) at Central Grizzlies (6-0) (1-0)
Pag Meter Line Central -2
Broadcasting live on 940 ESPN Radio
The epic early showdown with two of the best teams by far in the valley. I would say there is a very good chance that these teams will be meeting again on Championship Friday.
The Grizzlies come in and they are strong on both sides of the ball and leading the way is the best QB in the valley… Trent Tompkins who has thrown for 1,698 yards and 28 TD passes.
The offensive line is good and running behind the big guys is junior Quali Conley. The Grizzlies receivers are real good and leading the way is junior Jeremiah Hunter who has caught 31 passes for 394 yards and 15 TD’s.
For the Bears it’s all about the running game and a very good defense. The Bears don’t really have a passing game but will do plenty of screens and quick passing.. Junior running back Kendall Milton is back healthy after scoring 3 TD’s in the tough loss to De La Salle 31-24.
The X factor is the Grizzlies have Trent Tompkins and the Bears don’t. I have this strange feeling that the Bears will work in Jalen Cropper at QB because he has been a non-factor on offense along with outstanding athlete Brock Jones. It’s time for Cropper and Jones to get in the act on offense. Cropper was so dangerous when he was the QB at Sanger.
For the Bears to win the valley, Jalen has to play QB and/or be a part of the offense or the Bears might not have enough to over take the defending champs until they work in the forward pass. The Bears have one of the best defenses in the state to go along with such a tremendous running game.
The Grizz are very tough at home and for the Bears to play the day after Thanksgiving at Buchanan, they must win this game. This game is for the home field throughout the playoffs.
The Grizzlies are a team that starts slow so the Bears need to get off to a great start and get the lead.
Last week the Pag Meter was way off in the pick against Buchanan. Buchanan proved they can play with anybody with that great defense but it’s hard to bet against the best QB in the section.
Pag Meter Prediction Central 23 Buchanan 21 (CENTRAL 42 BUCHANAN 24)
Clovis East T Wolves (3-3) (0-1) at Clovis Cougars (5-1) (1-0)
Pag Meter Line Clovis -7
This is another game that is going to be a tough call. Both teams come off a bye.
Before the bye, Clovis East played Memorial real tough in a loss and Clovis got crushed in the loss to Liberty.
It’s the T Wolves Wing T vs the Cougars passing attack. CE doesn’t throw the ball much and the Cougars can’t run the ball.
Such a strange match up.
The X factor is both defenses because if the T Wolves can shorten the game up with long drives…they win…..if the Cougars stuff the line of scrimmage….the Cougars win.
Pag Meter Prediction (Upset pick) Clovis East 26 Clovis 24 (Clovis 27 CE 20)
Clovis West Golden Eagles (0-6) (0-1) vs Clovis North Broncos (2-3) (1-0)
Pag Meter Line Clovis North -1
This is a huge game for both teams because with the tough TRAC schedules both teams play, wins are not easy to come by. It’s alway nice to start the TRAC 1-0. Clovis West has played a real tough schedule and lost a tough one to Bullard 37-35 before the Bye. CN lost to Ridgeview in overtime 20-14.
The X factor is the Broncos defense and can they slow down Golden Eagles QB Dante Chachere because he is Mr Everything for the Golden Eagles.
The Broncos offense is still trying to figure out what they got and for the Broncos to win they have to pound the ball right at CW with Jackson Schultz. C-Dub doesn’t match up with power running teams. The Clovis West defense has to step up.
This will be a very good game!
Pag Meter Prediction Clovis North 34 Clovis West 33 (CN 42 CW 40 double OT)
CENTRAL SEQUOIA
Dinuba Emperors (4-2) (0-1) at Central Valley Christian Cavaliers (5-1) (1-0)
Pag Meter Line Dinuba -3
This is the CSL showdown and the winner will be in the driver seat to be the Champion.
Both teams have won 4 straight coming in since a week 1 loss.
Both teams play tremendous defense and both can run the ball.
The X factor is which QB plays better will win this game. The Emperors have Josh Magana who has thrown for 928 yards with 11 TD’s. The Cavaliers have Eric Dragt who has thrown for 630 yards with 10 TD passes. Keep an eye on the running backs with Emperors Josh Martinez and Cavs Jaalen Rening.
Both of these defenses are very tough so the offenses have to step up.
Pag Meter Prediction Dinuba 24 CVC 21 (CVC 21 DINUBA 7)
Exeter Monarchs (1-4) at Kingsburg Vikings (4-2)
Pag Meter Line Kingsburg -31
The X factor is the Monarchs defense and can they slow down the red hot Vikings?
Exeter comes in losing to Chowchilla at 34-6.
Kingsburg beat up Madera South 57-7. QB Jett Jackson threw 3 TD’s and scored on an 18-yard TD run. Brandon Rocha also returned a fumble for a VikingsTD. Blake Spomer scored on a 33 yard TD run and caught 2 TD passes. Bo Jackson scored on a 2 yard TD run.
Micah Spomer caught a TD pass and Tim Snyder scored on a 37 yard TD run.
Pag Meter Prediction Kingsburg 44 Exeter 13 (KINGSBURG 52 EXETER 30)
Hanford West Huskies (0-6) (0-1) at Selma Bears (3-3) (1-0)
Pag Meter Line Selma -35+
The X factor Bears sophomore QB Joey Ramirez is becoming a very good leader and the Huskies defense is struggling. Since Joey has taken over at QB, the Bears are a completely different team with so much energy. Watch out for the Bears!!
Pag Meter Prediction Selma 60 Hanford West 20 (SELMA 77 HW 46)
CMAC
Edison Tigers (3-3) (1-0) vs Madera South Stallions (0-6) (0-1)
Pag Meter Line Edison -31
The Tigers are a mess but will get some player eligible from the 30 day rule and the Stallions are very young that shouldn’t be playing in the CMAC.
Former Edison Coach Matt Johnson built up the Tigers when they were baby Kitten/Cubs.
Now new coach Atnaf Harris is understanding all the off the field issues that Coach Johnson had to deal with. (If you want to understand what I’m talking about…click on Division 1 football rankings and check out the Edison notes).
As for Madera South, Matt has to build a football culture at Madera South before he can think about winning football games. Matt’s the perfect coach at MS and MS is lucky to have Matty J. The Stallions have young talent coming and if the Stallions can grow together…watch out!
The X factor is the Tigers have major talent but will it show up and play together? The Tigers have had 2 weeks to think about the horrible showing in Dinuba.
Pag Meter Prediction Edison 51 Madera South 20 (EDISON 48 MS 8)
Bullard Knights (1-5) (0-1) at Memorial Panthers (6-0) (1-0)
Pag Meter Line Memorial -7
Broadcasted live on KFRE TV
One of the best rivalries in the valley that nobody knows about. It used to be that many Panther players lived in the Bullard area and everybody grew up together. It’s not like that any longer because kids live all over the place.
The Knights are a pretty good 1-4 team but missing the QB play. They have played a much tougher schedule than the 5-0 Panthers.
The Knights come in losing to Arroyo Grande 24-12. Marcus Fulcher scored on a 89 yard TD run. The Knights could not handle the strength of the Eagles and now they have to deal with the speedy Panthers.
The Panthers come off a bye.
The Panthers are absolutely a machine on offense and leading the way is QB Alec Trujillo who has thrown for 1,253 yards and 16 TD passes. The receivers are good with Mac Dalena, Josh Kelly and one of the top receivers in the country with Jalen McMillian. Jalen’s latest offers come from Alabama, Florida and Oregon. WOW!!
The X factor is the Knights QB play. Bullard just haven’t had consistent QB play all year. The Knights future QB is sophomore Bryce Weiner and he will get the start. Bryce has been the starting JV QB and could get the start.
If Marcus Fulcher can go off then the fighting Knights have a chance. SJM has so many weapons that on paper this should be a blowout but the Knights feel they matchup with SJM. Clovis East proved that running at the Panthers can work but can the Knights defense stay with the Panthers offense?
Pag Meter Prediction Memorial 34 Bullard 27 (SJM 62 BULLARD 20)
Madera Coyotes (4-2) (0-1) at Sanger Apaches (5-1) (1-0)
Pag Meter Line Sanger -3
This is a very good match with the speedy Coyotes offense vs the stingy Apaches defense.
The Coyotes come off a bye and before the bye the Coyotes beat Selma 57-55 in double overtime.
The Apaches come off a win at Paso Robles 27-24. David Ayala scored 2 TD’s (23 and 22 yards) and rushed for 122 yards.
The Coyotes will lead with Senior QB Colton Nelson, receivers Joziah Velasquez, Joshua jj Espinoza and Jevon Denis.
The Apaches will lead with runnings backs of Orlando Douglas, Kosi Agina, and David Ayala.
The X factor is the Coyotes defense because the last 2 games the Coyotes have given up 119 points and it has to improve to win at Chuck Shidan’s house.
Pag Meter Prediction Sanger 37 Madera 34 (SANGER 36 MADERA 33)
EAST YOSEMITE
Porterville Panthers (6-0) (1-0) vs Mission Oak Hawks (1-5) (0-1)
Pag Meter Line Porterville -19
The X factor is the Panthers know how to win close games with sophomore QB Hector Nava Jr who has thrown for for 1,472 yards and 15 TD’s. Mission Oak plays really tough defense and can run the football and has to play great to stay in this one. The Panthers are a 4th quarter team.
Pag Meter Prediction Porterville 36 Mission Oak 17 (PORTERVILLE 33 MO 14)
Tulare Union Tribe (6-0) (1-0) vs Monache Marauders (4-2) (0-1)
Pag Meter Line Tulare Union -18
The Tribe are rolling on both sides of the ball. The defense comes in with 2 straight shutouts and now faces a very good Marauders offense.
TU is are averaging 54 points per game and leading the way is senior quarterback Nathan Lamb who has thrown for 1,588 yards and 22 touchdowns. The receivers are good with Senior Darius Baker who has 23 catches for 494 yards, 8 TDs, and sophomore Willie James, with 20 catches for 420 yards and 6 TD’s.
The Marauders will lead with Senior QB Antonio Andrade, senior RB Aidan Galvan who has rushed for 940 yards and has scored 16 TD’s.
The X factor is the Marauders defense because the offense is good. Can the Marauders slow down the Tribe machine?
The Tribe will go for the early knockout so the Marauders have to stay on their feet.
Pag Meter Prediction Tulare Union 45 Monache 27 (TU 35 MONACHE 0)
Tulare Western Mustangs (6-0) (1-0) at Delano Tigers (3-3) (0-1)
Pag Meter Line Tulare Western -25
This is a game with two very good teams that love to run the football. The Mustangs have Tairyn Johnson who rushed for 129 yards and scored 2 TD’s in the win over Hanford. In 5 games, TJ has rushed for 1,042 yards and has scored 14 TD’s.
The Tigers will lead with running backs Fernie Ferrel and Sergio Gonzalez.
The X factor is the Tigers defense and can the Tigers slow down the Mustangs running game?
The Mustangs passing attack a complete mess and last years star WR Keshon Butler is no longer on the team, look for Tairyn Johnson to play some slot and Andrew Davis get more touches at running back. For the Mustangs to have a shot at the Bell game and the division 2 section championship….they need some sort of passing offense.
Pag Meter Prediction Tulare Western 45 Delano 20 (TW 56 DELANO 0)
WEST YOSEMITE
El Diamante Miners (1-5) )(0-1) at Hanford Bullpups (3-3) (1-0)
Pag Meter Line El Diamante -2
Both teams need a win and one team will feel good at 1-0.
The Miners come in losing to Upland 49-0. Some Miner parents tried their best to get the Upland game declared a forfeit and that is so sad to hear. It’s the new world we live in. Apparently Upland was to good and some parents were scared of injuries…..WAIT….WHAT!!! I have never heard such a thing but like I said….it’s the new world we live in.
For Hanford they have underachieved and are close at breaking loose because they have talent.
A star is born with Bullpups sophomore running back Luttrell Young who has rushed for 417 yards.
The X factor is the Pag Meter can’t take a team where some parents didn’t want their little boy to play a football game because the other team is to good. Are the Bullpups a contender? Stay tuned.
Pag Meter Prediction Hanford 30 El Diamante 28 (HANFORD 14 EL D 7)
Lemoore Tigers (2-4) (0-1) vs Redwood Rangers (2-4) (1-0)
Pag Meter Line Redwood -3
The Tigers are very streaky…they either play well for 48 minutes or get blown out.
The Rangers 4 losses are against teams that are a combined 19-1.
The X factor is which Tigers team will show up?
The Tigers will lead with QB Justin Holaday who has thrown for 1,092 yards and the Rangers will lead with sophomore RB Caden Shafer.
Pag Meter Prediction Redwood 33 Lemoore 30 (REDWOOD 21 LEMOORE 14)
Mt. Whitney Pioneers (3-3) (0-1) at Golden West Trailblazers (3-3) (1-0)
Pag Meter Line Mt Whitney -3
The Pioneers are the best team that nobody knows about but the WYL and division 3 better start taking notice very soon.
The young Blazers are getting better every week and division 4 better watch out by playoff time.
The Pioneers have one of the top offenses in the valley with senior QB Jaedyn Pineda who has thrown for 1,407 yards passing and 25 TDs and has rushed for 293 yards. The receivers are good with seniors Mike McKernan (15 catches for 426 yards and 7 TD’s) and Adam Valencia (24 catches for 399 yards and has scored 11 TD’s).
The X factor is the MW defense and how will they match up with the GW Wing T? If GW can keep the chains moving that will keep the MW offense on the sidelines.
Pag Meter Prediction Mt Whitney 37 Golden West 34 (GW 36 MW 35)
SOUTHWEST YOSEMITE
Bakersfield Drillers (4-2) (1-0) at Stockdale Mustangs (3-3) (0-1)
Pag Meter Line Bakersfield -22
The X factor is always the Drillers. If they don’t turn the ball over they will romp Stockdale. If the Drillers show up and turn the ball over…we got a ball game.
Pag Meter Prediction Bakersfield 41 Stockdale 19 (BAKERSFIELD 40 STOCKDALE 7)
Frontier Titans (2-4) (0-1) at Garces Rams (2-4) (1-0)
Pag Meter Line Garces -7
This is a very good SWYL match up to start the year. Somebody will be 1-0 and will be loving it.
The Titans so far will beat the teams they are supposed beat and can’t beat the teams that are favored over them. The Rams are the favored team and have played a much tougher schedule.
The X factor is the Titans defense.
Pag Meter Prediction Garces 31 Frontier 24 (GARCES 14 FRONTIER 7)
Centennial Golden Hawks (4-2) (0-1) at Liberty Patriots (4-2) (1-0)
Pag Meter Line Liberty -22
The G Hawks want to prove to the Central Section that they are the real deal after playing a soft schedule compared to Liberty. Could Centennial be the sleeper? The Patriots would be 5-0 with the G Hawks schedule but the Patriots want to be tested before the playoffs start.
The X factor is the G Hawks defense going against the very good Patriots offense.
The Golden Hawks will lead with QB Kyle Connelly who has thrown for 961 yards and 12 TD passes. For the Golden Hawks to win, Connelly has to go off with a career game.
The Patriots are loaded with so much talent and leading the way is RB Sammy Stewart.
Pag Meter Prediction Liberty 44 Centennial 22 (LIBERTY 55 CENTENNIAL 0)
EAST SEQUOIA
Corcoran Panthers (5-2) (2-1) at Lindsay Cardinals (3-3) (1-2)
Pag Meter Line Corcoran -2
Both teams really need this win. Both teams come in with wins from week 7.
The Panthers beat Farmersville 41-10. Julian Escalante rushed for 120 yards and scored 2 TD’s.
Lindsay beat Granite Hills 21-14. QB Ethan Natera threw 2 TD passes.
The X factor is the turnover game. Both teams are very streaky. The Panthers can run the ball better than the Cardinals and that could be the key.
Pag Meter Prediction Corcoran 25 Lindsay 23 (CORCORAN 42 LINDSAY 35)
Woodlake Tigers (6-1) (3-0) at Strathmore Spartans (5-1) (1-1)
Pag Meter Line Strathmore -2
The winner will be the ESL Champion.
It’s the Tigers spread attack vs the Spartans power running attack.
The Tigers will lead with QB Damian Hernandez (93-130, 1,258 yards, 11 TD’s), WR Bryan Cuevas (571 yards, 7 TD’s), RB Victor Rojas (539 rushing yards, 10 TD’s), and Josh Benavidez (290 rushing yards, 2 TD’s).
The Spartans have RB Alonza Acevedo who has rushed for 549 and has scored 12 TD’s.
The X factor can The Tigers defense which is lead by one of the best linebackers in the valley with Anthony “Boots” Guzman slow down the Spartans offense?
The Tigers played the Caruthers Blue Raiders real tough and Caruthers offense is much more dangerous than the Strathmore offense so if the Tigers can come in with an attitude….they can win. This is by far the Strathmore toughest game after playing teams with a combined record of 6-23.
Pag Meter Prediction (Upset pick) Woodlake 36 Strathmore 35 (WOODLAKE 38 STRATHMORE 20)
HIGH DESERT
California City Ravens (3-3)(1-0) at Kern Valley Broncs (1-6) (0-1)
Pag Meter Line Cal City -23
The X factor is the Cal City defense is real good. Can the Ravens offense have a good game?
Pag Meter Prediction Cal City 29 Kern Valley 6 (CAL CITY 33 KV 22)

Pag Meter Line Rosamond -11
The X factor is the Roadrunners offense is real good and the Roadrunners defense is not.
Pag Meter Prediction Rosamond 46 Boron 35 (BORON 42 ROSAMOND 32)
MOUNTAIN
Arroyo Grande Eagles (5-2) (0-1) at St. Joseph Knights (5-2) (1-0)
Pag Meter Line Arroyo Grande -11
The Mountain league early showdown.
The big and physical Eagles vs the spread of the Knights.
The Eagles have won 4 straight and come off a win over the Bullard Knights 24-12. James Gilmet returned a 91 yard kickoff return for a TD and Kadin Byrne scored a 4 yard TD run.
The Knights lost to the Lompoc Braves 24-21 on a late field goal.
The X factor is the Knights front seven and can they handle the strength of the Eagles power? To beat the Knights, you run right at them and that’s what the Eagles do.
Pag Meter Prediction Arroyo Grande 38 St Joseph 27 (ST JOES 34 AG 17)
Paso Robles Bearcats (2-5) (0-1) at Righetti Warriors (6-1) (1-0)
Pag Meter Line Righetti High -7
The Bearcats come in losing at home to Sanger 27-24. Last year’s QB Hunter Barnhart played baseball all summer and missed football and came out late. Hunter really hurt the team because when your starting QB holds your team hostage….your team is screwed. It’s that simple. Hunter played late vs Sanger and went 5-5 for 72 yards. So the big question is will Hunter get the start? Last year Hunter took over at league time and the Bearcats went 4-0 to win the PAC 5 League.
The Warriors beat Dos Pueblos Chargers 34-14. Warriors are 5-1 for the first time in 11 years. Adan Solis, Kidsasi Nepa and Isaiah Gayfield average 268 yards a game rushing. On the year, Solis has rushed for 874 yards and scored 11 TD’s.
The X factor is the Bearcats are horrible this year on the road. The Warriors are not a real good throwing team so can the Bearcats defense step up. If Barnhart starts, can he bring in the magic?
Pag Meter Prediction Righetti High 29 Paso Robles 22 (RIGHETTI HIGH 52 PO 20)

The Highlanders come in losing to Dos Palos 43-14 and the Wildcats had a bye.
The Highlanders had some injuries and now face the Wildcats who loves playing in the NYL over non league.

Roosevelt Rough Riders (5-1) (1-0) at Reedley Pirates (2-4) (0-1)

The Pirates had a pretty good non league season winning 2 games and improving all the time but now they host a hungry Rough Riders team.
The X factor is the Pirates defense.
