PAG METER PREDICTIONS FOR WEEK 2
In week 1 the Pag Meter went 43-8 (84%)
THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL
It always seems …..Thursday Night football has some wild games! Stay tuned!
Corcoran Panthers (1-0 ) vs Hanford West Huskies (0-1) at Hanford 7:30pm
Pag Meter Line Corcoran -3
The Panthers come in with a big win over Fowler 42-35 and the Huskies were splattered 63-6 in the Doggy Bowl loss to Hanford. The X factor is the Panthers defense and if they play well they can go 2-0. The Huskies have plenty of speed. This should be a real good Thursday night game with two very even teams. It was a shootout
Pag Meter Prediction Corcoran 29 Hanford West 26 (Final Corcoran 55 HW 45)
Clovis West Golden Eagles (0-1) vs Edison Tigers (0-1) at Sunnyside Stadium 7:00pm
Pag Meter Line Edison -4
Both defenses are good coming in and both offenses are struggling. Both offenses were shutout on Friday. Both teams need this win. The X factor could be the Golden Eagles have QB Dante Chachere. The best offensive player is Cherchere and the best defensive player is Tigers Kwebena Watson who is a beast.
Which offense will finally get the chains moving and get in the end zone? This has the makings to be a low scoring game….Both offenses played great!
For Edison to win they have run the ball with McKinley Lee and work in the short passing game. The Tigers finally got Lee involved in the offense in the 2nd half. There is no way that the Golden Eagles secondary can hang with the Tigers receivers but it does start with Lee running the football. The Tigers have plenty of speed in the secondary. CW has to show they can move the ball. The CW problem is they can’t run the football except for Chachere. If CW can have a good night on offense …..they will win. They did and still lost
Pag Meter Prediction Edison 21 Clovis West 14 (Final Edison 41 CW 35)
El Diamante Miners (0-1) at Tulare Union Tribe (1-0) 7:00pm
Pag Meter Line Tulare Union -7
Miners head coach Mark Rogers has retired on Tuesday of this week. Rogers was entering his 15th year. El Diamante won 8 WYL titles (2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2017) and 2 Central Section Championships in 2007 & 2013. One of the best ever! The Miners got down 48-7 last week in the loss to Tulare Western and the scoreboard look way better with a 48-28 final. The Mustangs shut it down in the 2nd half. The Tribe beat Mt Whitney 36-33 on a Ezekiel Sanchez 30-yard field goal with 5 seconds to go. El D had 6 turnovers in the loss. QB Nate Lamb went 23-38 for 402 yards with 3 TD passes. Willie James caught 7 passes for 93 yards and a TD. Darius Baker caught 4 passes for 77 yards and a TD. Freedem Chatman caught 5 passes for 35 yards and a TD. Randy Jordan jr caught 5 passes for 67 yards.
Tribe Head Coach Darren Bennett is 2 wins away from getting his 200th career win.
The Miners offensive line needs to improve this week against a speedy Tribe defense.
The X factor is the Miners defense and can they slow down the Tribe offense? GOT CRUSHED! If Miners QB Parker Boswell gets hot then this could be a shoot out.
Pag Meter Prediction Tulare Union 41 El Diamante 34 (Final TU 52 El D 0)
South Rebels (0-1 ) at Delano Tigers (1-0) 7:00pm
Pag Meter Line South -4
The Rebels lost a shootout to Independence 53-49 and the game finally ended after midnight. The Tigers were down 20-6 late in the 3rd quarter to Chavez before storming back to win 26-20.
The X factor is the Tigers can’t afford to get way behind at home and expect to come back against the Rebels. THEY GOT WAY BEHIND. Can the Rebels defense improve this week against a team that loves to pound it? The Rebels played the complete game
Pag Meter Prediction South 34 Delano 30 ( Final South 60 Delano 6)
FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS
Avenal Buccaneers (0-1) at Orange Cove Titans (1-0) 7:30pm
Pag Meter Line Orange Cove -34
The X factor is the Bucs defense because the Titans offense is a machine. The Titans defense fly’s to the ball. Mario Reynosa scored 3 TD’s to lead the rushing attack for Orange Cove in the win over Granite Hills 35-6.
Pag Meter Prediction Orange Cove 41 Avenal 6 (Final OC 48 Avenal 2)
Buchanan Bears (1-0) vs Bullard Knights (0-1) at Ratcliffe Stadium
Pag Meter Line Buchanan -8
This is a very interesting matchup. Are the Bears really the team that will be back playing on Championship night? Is Bullard going to be a contender and make a run with a powerful running game?
The Bears coming in crushing Paso Robles 56-17. Sophomore QB DJ Stevenson went 6-9 for 125 yards and 2 TD passes. DJ also scored his first varsity TD with an 8 yard run. Kendall Milton only played in one series, carried the ball 3 times for 95 yards including a 58 yard TD run. Jalen Cropper took a screen 77 yards for a TD. Levi Willems rushed for 95 yards and scored a TD. Tanner Blount rushed for 74 yards and scored 2 TD’s.
For the Knights this is their season opener and everybody is excited to see what the Knights have. The Knights X factor is new junior QB Carter Anderson and he reminds me of the Clovis West QB Dante Chachere with speed and a good arm.
Carter will have one of the top running backs to give the ball to with senior Marcus Fulcher who last year rushed for 1,756 yards and scored 20 totals touchdowns. The Knights offensive line is good and needs to play great at Ratcliffe Stadium.
The Bears are a big play team that can strike at any moment. The Knights defense is good but the Knights can’t afford to get behind a few TD’s because they are not that type of team to score quickly. The Knights have to control the line of scrimmage and keep DJ and Milton running between the tackles. For the Knights to win they have to pound the ball and Anderson has to have a huge break out game. Carter Anderson first game is against a very good defense. The Knights have to have a great night with tackling and can’t give up the big play with long Touchdowns runs with Cropper and Brock.
Pag Meter Prediction Buchanan 36 Bullard 28 (Final Buchanan 31 Bullard 0)
California City Ravens (0-1 ) at Taft Wildcats (1-0) 7:00pm
Pag Meter Line Taft -22

Caruthers Blue Raiders (1-0) at Coalinga Horned Toads (0-1) 7:30pm
Pag Meter Line Caruthers -19
One of the best matchups of the night! Both teams can light up the scoreboard.
The Blue Raiders come in after crushing Sierra 56-0. Blue Raiders QB Chris Puga scored 4 TD’s. The Toads lost a tough one to Orosi 52-45.
The X factor is the Toads defense because the Blue Raiders offense is even more dangerous than the Orosi offense. The Toads always play tougher at home.
Pag Meter Prediction Caruthers 46 Coalinga 27 (Final Caruthers 43 Coalinga 7)
Central Valley Christian Cavaliers (0-1) at Bakersfield Christian Eagles (1-0) 7:30pm
Pag Meter Line Bakersfield Christian -20
It’s the Milk Bowl and the battle to see who’s the best Christian team?.
CVC comes in after getting rocked by St Joseph 42-6 and BC comes in after winning late over Garces 27-24. Jacob Maran fired a 40 yard TD pass to Randle Myran and the game winner. CVC is big and physical and BC is full of speed.
The X factor is the Cavaliers defense has to play much better this week. The CVC loss shocked a lot of folks so we will see how the Cavs respond from an ass whooping. CVC is good!
The Eagles are big, fast and physical. Can the Cavs stay with the Eagles?
Pag Meter Prediction BC 40 CVC 20 (Final CVC 28 BC 20)
Chowchilla Tribe (1-0) at Lemoore Tigers (1-0) 7:00pm
Pag Meter Line Lemoore -7
The Tribe come in after beating Fresno Hi late in the game 20-18. QB Cody Woolsey had an outstanding first game leading the Tribe on the road throwing a 43 yard TD pass to Luciano Manzo and rushing for 120 yards and scored 2 TD’s.
Lemoore beat Clovis East in a defensive battle 7-6. Tigers, Brandon Hardgrove had 10 carries for 91 yards and scored the winning TD when he caught a TD from Justin Holaday. Justin making his first career start at QB going 20-27 for 168 yards. This is a game with two good QB’s and both teams can pound the ball.
The X factor is the offensive side of the ball. Both defenses are real good.
Pag Meter Prediction Lemoore 27 Chowchilla 20 (Final Lemoore 43 Chowchilla 18)
Clovis Cougars (1-0) at Stockdale Mustangs (0-1) 7:30pm
Pag Meter Line Clovis -14
The Cougars with a tremendous first game crushing Modesto 42-14. The Cougars got a big game from their new QB Isaiah Robles who went 18 of 26 for 242 yards and 5 TD passes. Matthew Sanchez caught 6 passes for 100 yards and 2 TD’s. The Cougars defense looks like they have the makings to be very good. This was a great example of why 7 vs 7 football during the summer is not real football. Modesto looked good beating Clovis in 7 vs 7 but in the real football game the Cougars took care of business in a big way.
The Mustangs come in after getting pounded 42-0 to Ridgeview.
The X factor is the young Mustangs will play much better this week but won’t have enough to stay with the Cougars.
Pag Meter Prediction Clovis 34 Stockdale 20 (Final Clovis 42 Stockdale 14)

The X factor is the Bears are getting better and better and should get their first win but has to improve on defense.
Pag Meter Prediction Arvin 37 Foothill 13 (Final Arvin 20 Foothill 0)
Fowler Redcats (0-1) at Firebaugh Eagles (0-1) 7:30pm
Pag Meter Line Firebaugh-2
The Redcats lost a heartbreaker to Corcoran 42-35. The Eagles got beat up 34-3 by Liberty Madera. The Eagles just don’t match up with the Hawks but they do against the Redcats. This should be a good game.
Pag Meter Prediction Firebaugh 35 Fowler 33 (Final Firebaugh 21 Fowler 7)
Fresno High Warriors (0-1) at Memorial Panthers (1-0) 7:30pm
Pag Meter Line Memorial -28

Mac Dalena caught a 28 yard TD pass, Jalen McMillian caught 2 TD passes, ran back the opening kickoff for a TD and Josh Kelly caught 1 TD pass. The Panthers defensive front didn’t have Justin Hunt (6’3” 235 lbs), Konner Gomness (6’4” 275 lbs) and Tobin Phillips (6’5” 285 lbs) because of injury and they are expected to be back this week.
The X factor is once these monsters come back with Hunt and Gomness and Phillips….watch out for the Panthers.

Pag Meter Prediction Immanuel 26 Farmersville 13 (Final Immanuel 66 Farmersville 6)
Madera Coyotes (1-0) vs Mission Oak Hawks (1-0) at Tulare Union 7:30pm

Pag Meter Prediction Madera 36 Mission Oak 27 (Final Madera 31 Mission Oak 21)
Kerman Lions (1-0) vs Madera South Stallions (0-0) at Madera 7:30pm
Pag Meter Line Kerman -9
The Lions defense shut out the Bears 21-2. The Bears got 2 points on a bad Lions snapped in the end zone. Gavin Layton fired 2 TD passes each to Trace Silva (34 and 4 yards), Isaac Velez scored on a 34 yard run and the Lions defense took care of business.
For the Stallions this is the season opener. Head Coach Matt Johnson is still trying to find out who are the ballers on his team. The good news for the Stallions is the future looks bright with a tremendous group of freshmens. This Stallions team….we will find out what they are all about.
The X factor is the Lions defense is better than the Stallions offense. Madera South is a work in progress. MS might come out and blow Kerman away or get creamed. Anything is possible. MS hasn’t had their starting group together yet. Will the Stallions shine when the Friday Night lights go on? Somebody will be undefeated after this game.

Mira Monte Lions (0-1) at Kennedy Thunderbirds (1-0) 7:30pm

Can the Lions slow down the Thunderbirds running game. The Birds come in after beating Foothill 41-0. Tyreak Walker with 14 carries for 194 yards, 4 TDs, long runs of 65 and 25 yard TD’s. Pag Meter Prediction Kennedy 47 Mira Monte 6 (Final Kennedy 69 Mira Monte 6)
Monache Marauders (1-0) at Chavez Titans (0-1) 7:00pm
Pag Meter Line Monache -21
The Marauders are now the No 1 team in division 4 so can they handle being the team that is being hunted? It’s not easy. Pag Meter Prediction Yosemite 47 Parlier 13 (Final Yosemite 52 Parlier 34)
Frontier Titans (1-0) at Paso Robles Bearcats (0-1) 7:00pm
Pag Meter Line Paso Robles-3
Very interesting matchup. The Titans played outstanding beating up Sunnyside 42-15. QB Dustin Montanio went 17 of 21 passes for 223 yards and 3 TD passes. Clayton Kyle rushed for 129 yards and scored 2 scored TD’s. Ernest Jackson rushed for 80 yards and scored a TD. Kolton Baker caught 9 passes for 79 yards and caught 2 TD passes.
Paso got run over against a very good Buchanan team 56-17. The Bearcats played without 3 starters on both sides of the ball in the loss. This week the O-line and D-line will be much better.
This is one of those games that looks real easy to pick….right?? Fronter crushed Sunnyside and Buchanan crushed Paso so Frontier should win…..Not so fast my friend. Sunnyside is not good right now and Paso should be healthy this week.
The X factor is the Bearcats are at home but will not have Junior QB Hunter Barnhart any longer and has decided to not play football (Horrible mistake by Barnhart). That means sophomore QB Braden Waterman is the guy and did a pretty good job in first career start against a very good Bears defense. Paso plays much better at home. If the Titans win this week then put them in as a big division 2 contender.
Pag Meter Prediction Paso Robles 33 Frontier 30 (Final Paso 17 Fronter 14)
Pioneer Valley Panthers (0-0) at St. Joseph Knights (1-0) 7:00pm
Pag Meter Line St Joseph -16
It’s official …The Knights are good. They spread it out and will also pound you. The Knights come in after thumping CVC 42-6. Pioneer Valley is playing in their season opener. The Panthers are big and physical with senior 6’7, 345 lbs Alex Pugh, at tackle and newcomer junior Mark Martinez at Center. The QB will be senior Jayson Garcia. The running backs will be Michael Bourbon, Oscar Ruiz, Adrian Garcia, and Daniel Vasquez. The defensive leader will be Steven Fuerte in the secondary along with junior inside linebacker Oscar Ruiz.
X factor is the Panthers last year lost to St Joseph 49-7 and the Knights didn’t even have Chase at QB. The Panthers will be much better this year. Can the Panthers pound the football?
Pag Meter Prediction St Joseph 39 Pioneer Valley 23 (Final St Joseph 35 Pioneer 19)

The Grizzlies lost to Orange Cove 35-6.
The X factor can the Grizzlies slow down the new star QB Hector Nava? This is a classic Porterville town rivalry with kids all growing up together.
Pag Meter Prediction Porterville 44 Granite Hills 13 (Final Porterville 47 Granite Hill 14)
Redwood Rangers (0-0) at Dinuba Emperors (0-1) 7:30pm
Pag Meter Line Dinuba -8
The Rangers open up the first game at Dinuba and they will have a new senior QB with John Vega. Last years QB Hector Gonzalez transferred to Liberty Bakersfield and was projected to be the Rangers leader. The Rangers have size at the offensive line, especially at the tackle positions.
Senior left tackle Nick Smith is 6-foot-4 and 281 pounds. Starting at right tackle is the 6-foot-6, 299-pound junior Aaron Garcia.
Starters in the interior are senior left guard Chris Galutira (5-9, 207), senior center Tyler Ball (6-0, 267) and right guard Matt Ramirez (5-9, 224).
Leading the Redwood defense in 2018 are Hruby, Rivera and Vasquez. Hruby will anchor the Rangers’ 3-4 front seven at defensive end.
Rivera will patrol the heart of the defense at linebacker and Vasquez returns at his safety position.
For the Emperors they suffered maybe the upset of the year losing to Porterville 33-31. The Miners were in control at 31-14 to start the 4th quarter. The Panthers made the adjustment and figured out you can’t run on the Emperors but you can throw on the Emperors.
The X factor is the Rangers are a running team. If the Rangers want to win on the road….they might have to throw it.
Pag Meter Prediction Dinuba 34 Redwood 26 (Final Dinuba 35 Redwood 0)
Ridgeview Wolf Pack (1-0) at Liberty Patriots (0-1) 7:30pm
Pag Meter Line Liberty -3
The early south valley showdown! The speed of the Wolf Pack vs the power of the Patriots.
The Wolf Pack comes in after crushing Stockdale 42-0. QB Tahj Wright threw 3 TD passes and scored a TD. The Wolf Pack’s QB Wright might not go with an injured right ankle. It will be a game-time decision.
Liberty lost to Southern Section Power Mission Viejo 34-10. The Patriots had zero chance of winning and especially when they rotated QB’s with Dakota Ochoa and Hector Gonzales. Gonzalez threw a 4-yard TD pass to Jake O’Connell for the only Pates TD.
The X factor is the Patriots can’t give up the big play and expect to win.
We all have to hope the Patriots rotating QB idea comes to an end. In over 100 years of football at any level, flip-flopping QB’s has never worked! Why is it hat coaches who have never played the position feels like it’s a good idea??? The QB needs the flow of the game and you will never get the rhythm watching from the sidelines for long periods of time. Teams sometimes rotate QB because coaches don’t want to make the call on a starter. Pag Meter Predicts that Gonzales will takes over because Liberty is too good of a team to throw away the year..
Can the Patriots control Wright at QB if he plays. Will the Pates rotate QB’s?
So many X factors!!
Pag Meter Prediction Liberty 33 Ridgeview 30 (Final Liberty 38 Ridgeview 0)
