Pag Meter Prdictions
Week 1 is always the toughest week to make predictions because you really don’t know what teams have? There are plenty of new coaching staffs, quarterbacks making their first varsity start. Some teams have a new running backs, new receivers, new offensive lines, defenses……you get it.
Well here it goes.
Last year the Pag Meter Predictions overall went 464-74 (86%)
GAME ON!
THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL FINAL SCORES
Dinuba Emperors at Porterville Panthers
Pag Meter line Dinuba -24
The Emperors come in with a business plan of winning the division 2 section championship.
Can the Panthers slow down the Dinuba outstanding offense which is led by junior QB Josh Magana? The Bigger questioned turn out to be could the Emperors slow down the Panthers? The answer is NO.
The X factor is the Dinuba defense which is real good and the Panthers offense will need to keep the chains moving to stay in this one. THEY SURE DID!
Pag Meter Prediction Dinuba 37 Porterville 13
FINAL PORTERVILLE 33 DINUBA 31
Great comeback win for the Panthers! The Panthers were down 31-14 and storms back for the win. Hector Nava hit Hunter Alcantar on a 35 yard TD pass and the game winner with 18 seconds to go! Hector Nava finished with 5 TD passes.
Bakersfield Drillers vs Servite Friars
Pag meter line Bakersfield -7
This game is very interesting and very tough to call with the Drillers playing on the road. We all know Servite is a Southern Section powerhouse but they will have some new Friars playing and the Drillers have plenty of speed. Troy Thomas is back coaching at Servite and Servite was real good in 2010 when Thomas coached. What’s amazing is Servite usually gets plenty of transfers in but this year they lost 5 outstanding players but gained a few so Coach Thomas will need to build the Friars back up. They did get a new transfer with senior 6’5 QB Blake McKibbin who comes in from Serra. The offensive line will be very good. Servite will have 17 seniors playing this year.
The X factor is always how will the Friars handle the Drillers defense with everybody jumping up and down 2 yards off the ball and only one down lineman? Some teams it takes a while. The Friars stuffed the Drillers offense!
Can Cam Williams and the Drillers run the the triple option against a big defensive front? The answer is no. 4 turnovers
I’m thinking the Drillers come out fast and punch the Friars early and hang on. (The Complete opposite start) The worst time to play the Drillers is real early in the year. If the Drillers are as good as advertised…..they must beat a Servite team with a new coach. The Drillers offense is better than the Servite defense.
Pag Meter Prediction Bakersfield 33 Servite 26
FINAL SEVITE 17 BAKERSFIELD 7
The Friars returned the kickoff 99 yards to start the game and the Drillers never recovered. The defense played very well and the offense struggled all night long.
The X factor for the Drillers to win on the road was the offense and the triple option. Drillers Wesley Wilson scored the only TD with a 2-yard TD run
FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS FINAL SCORES
Arroyo Grande Eagles at San Luis Obispo Tigers
Pag Meter line Arroyo Grande -27
I had Clovis North playing Arroyo Grande but the Eagles made an appointment with San Luis and San Luis vs Arroyo Grande is the old classic rivalry.

Avenal Buccaneers at McFarland Cougars
Pag Meter line McFarland -26
Last year McFarland won in a defensive battle 7-0.
The X factor is the Cougars offense with QB Julian Avila has the making to be electric.
Pag Meter Prediction McFarland 33 Avenal 7

Alex Patino scored on a 3 yard TD run. Juan Chavez hit Martin Salazar on a 57 yard TD pass and Juan Chavez scored on a 27 yard TD run.
Bakersfield Christian Eagles at Garces Rams
Pag Meter line Bakersfield Christian -7
Both teams have plenty of speed. The big question is for the Eagles will be who will be the QB? Jacob Maran who transferred in from the Bakersfield Drillers and junior Dominic Gamboni who comes from the Dos Palos Broncos. Both QB’s are different. Jacob is the athletic QB and Dom is the pocket passer and he will be very good. It looks like Maran will get the start but jersey boy Gamboni is in the bullpen and ready.
The Rams will have senior QB Joseph Campbell who will get the ball to his athletes. Campbell is very good and if he has a great game….the Rams can win at home.
The X factor will be the defensive side of the ball. The Eagles are loaded with speed everywhere.
Pag Meter Prediction Bakersfield Christian 35 Garces 28
FINAL BAKERSFIELD CHRISTIAN 27 GARCES 24
Jacob Maran fired a 40 yard TD pass to Randle Myran and the game winner. Maran finished the night 15-of-29 for 285 yards and 4 TD passes. Chris Gutierrez caught a 71-yard touchdown pass. Caruthers Blue Raiders at Sierra Chieftains
Pag Meter line Caruthers -27
The defending division 5 champion Blue Raiders hit the road to the mountains. Chris Puga will makes his debut at QB and he is fast and dangerous.
The X factor is 4 …that is the over and under for Puga scoring TD’s.
Pag Meter Prediction Caruthers 41 Sierra 13
FINAL CARUTHERS 56 SIERRA 0
Big night for new Blue Raiders QB Chris Puga scoring 4 TD’s.
Centennial Golden Hawks at North Stars
Pag Meter line Centennial -3
Very interesting matchup. The G Hawks have so many new starters after graduating 30 from last year and the Stars bring back so many. If the Stars don’t win this year then they never will beat the G Hawks. This is the year to do it.
The X factor is the Stars defense because they need to force turnovers to pull off a win.
Pag Meter Prediction Centennial 27 North 24
FINAL CENTENNIAL 28 NORTH 14
G Hawks new QB Kyle Connelly fired 4 TD passes ( Donald Adams, 21 yards; Anthony Glass, 21 yards; Josh Delarosa, 26 yards; Karson McKindley, 26 yards) and the defense did the rest.
Central Grizzlies vs Edison Tigers
Pag Meter line Central -14
Central took on Memorial in their scrimmage and it was very ugly. Central was very vanilla and Memorial brought the house and the Grizzlies beat the Panthers like a Narc in a Biker rally. Edison’s offense could not get it going against a very good Tulare Western defense in their scrimmage.
Two of the fastest teams will battle at Ratcliffe Stadium live on 940 ESPN Radio.
The defending champs come in loaded and the Grizzlies have some Edison transfers. A lot of the players all know each other so this should be a great opener.
The Grizzlies QB Trent Tompkins is so excited to be playing again. Trent hurt his left hand in june but he’s ready to crank it up. The Grizzlies are loaded on both sides of the ball.
For the Tigers they come in with speed but very young. Junior Jameson Silva will start at QB and senior RB McKinley Lee III will be running behind a very young O-line.
The X factor will be the young speedy Tigers defense and can they slow down the Grizzlies machine? Throw out everything because this is speed vs speed. The Grizzlies defense is better than the Tigers offense heading into week 1. Can the young Tigers offense do anything against a swarming Grizz defense?
Pag Meter Prediction Central 21 Edison 7
FINAL CENTRAL 35 EDISON 7
The Grizzlies spotted the Tigers 7 points. Dezjhon Malone returned a 56 yard Punt for the Tigers and then the Central Grizzlies took over. QB Trent Tompkins went 22-41 for 360 yards and 4 TD passes. (Jeremiah Hunter 3 and 17 yards; Manuel Oliver-Davis 8 yards; Tyrell Grayson 25 yards) Trent also scored on a 1-yard TD run.

CE will lead with junior RB Joe Nation vs junior RB William Kloster and they are both good.
The X factor will be the QB play and the Tigers new QB junior is Justin Holaday who is making his first start and he has the makings to be real good! The T Wolves QB will be junior Xavier Corona who is a real good athlete. CE can not turn the ball over to have a fun bus ride home.

The X factor is Coach Beto always seems to get the Aztecs fired up at home and Aztecs senior QB Isaiah Clark. If Clark goes off the Highlanders are in trouble.

For the defending division 2 section champion Tulare Union Tribe they feel a little disrespected because they graduated so many stars including the greatest Tribe player of all time with Kazmier Allen. TU has plenty of stars coming back including senior QB Nate Lamb. Last year Lamb’s job was easy because all he had to do was hand the ball off or get it to record breaking receiver Emoryie Edwards and the stats would read 400 yards passing.
This year the Tribe are counting on Lamb to lead this Tribe team back to the title game.

The Bearcats are the first team to officially start the relationship with the Central Section. The Bearcats at QB will have sophomore Braden Waterman making his first career start. Outstanding junior QB Hunter Barnhart is coming to football late because of baseball so Waterman will get the start on the road. Look for Barnhart to get in there in the 1st half.
For the Bears and making his first career start will be sophomore DJ Stevenson. DJ is 6’3 and the son of Washington Union and NBA Star DeShawn Stevenson. DJ has the makings to be one the best young QB’s in the state and it will make the Bears dangerous with his arm and his speed.

For the Bears they will want the ball in the hands of RB junior Jr Kendall Milton, and the senior receivers of Brock Jones and Jalen Cropper. All three are soooo amazing with the football.
Both defenses are pretty young with some new faces so the X factor is which defense can slow down the high power offenses??? Both offensive lines are pretty new this year.
With DJ Stevenson at QB for the Bears along with Milton, Jones and Cropper…..The Bears are already more dangerous on offense than last year.

FINAL ROOSEVELT 21 IMMANUEL 6
Vince Brandstetter wins his first game as the new Rough Riders head coach
Memorial Panthers at Kingsburg Vikings
Pag Meter line Memorial -29
The good news and the bad news for Memorial. The bad news first….they got pummeled in the scrimmage vs the Central Grizzlies. There is a reason why SJM plays in division 3. The good news is Kingsburg can’t match up with Memorial. The Panthers offensive stats should be real good. QB Alec Trujillo should have a big night throwing to Jalen McMillian and Josh Kelly. Senior Leonard Glass will move around in the offense at RB and slot.
The Vikings will lead with RB Bo Jackson.
The X factor is the Vikings defense will not be able to stay with the Panthers. The Panthers D-line is real good and the Vikings could be in trouble. SJM has to get that scrimmage out of their system because it means nothing. The season starts this week!
The Memorial defense will be the X factor everytime they show up.

Last year the Bears pulled out a blunder win 22-21. with 36 seconds to go and the score was Lions 21-20, the Bears lined up for the extra point but a bad snap went to kicker Felipe Garcia who threw it to Parker Garcia and the game winning 2 point play. WOW!!
Both teams lose their best QB’s in school history. Bears Junior Ramirez and Lions Sean Chambers, This game sure looks pretty darn even.
The Bears will have new senior QB Ricky Mota running the show and he is one heck of an athlete. The Lions will have junior Gavin Layton at QB who played receiver last year.
The X factor can the Bears slow down the Lions running game with Colton Smith who is big and physical and Isaac Velez who is fast? The Lions defense is good and so is the Bears defense.

Gavin Layton fired 2 TD passes each to Trace Silva (34 and 4 yards), Isaac Velez scored on a 34 yard run and the Lions defense took care of business. The Selma Bears suffered a horrible loss when their senior QB Ricky Mota broke his arm. Ricky was the leader on the team and the Bears will miss him. He had everything you’d ask for in a high school QB… he could throw, he could run, he could read the field, he could scramble… and until he went down Kerman was struggling to contain him… which the Lions never truly did. Ricky Mota…best of luck for a speedy recovery!!
South Rebels at Independence Falcons
Pag Meter line South -5
This game on paper looks very even. The Rebels QB will be senior Bryson Aguirre who is a dual threat and very good! The running backs are good with Speedster Devon Williams alongs with senior Ryan Harlan and junior Daniel Lomax.
For new Head Coach Schilabel, The Falcons will have senior Sergio Borreli who returns along with his favorite receiver senior Deonte Brown.
The X factor is the defense. The winner will be much cleaner on offense.
Pag Meter Prediction South 26 Independence 21
FINAL INDEPENDENCE 53 SOUTH 49
Tyler Shilhabel gets his first win as the new head coach of the Falcons. Malik Delouth scored the game winning 1 yard TD with 50 seconds to go.
St. Joseph Knights at CVC Cavaliers
Pag Meter line CVC -10
St Joseph will know all about the Central Section with their schedule with Garces, Bakersfield Christian and Centennial.
What a great match up with two teams that are expecting good years. St Joseph is new to the Central Section and was placed in division 1 which is flat out wrong. They don’t have the numbers to play in division 1. St Joseph should be in division 3. The Central Section CIF needs to change that right now!!
The Knights will have a new QB Chase Artopoeus who is a transfer from Thousand Oaks. The Knights playmakers are Darien Langley, Devin Guggia, EJ Brinez and Trevor Cole. The Knights offensive is very good.
For CVC they are the favorites in division 4. The Cavaliers are returning 15 players from last year. They will lead with Junior RB Jaalen Rening who could have a monster year along with senior receiver Brian Noel. The offensive will be very good and leading the way is big junior Dirk Nelson. Both teams are big upfront.
The X factor is the weather and can St Joseph handle the valley hot night? Both teams will play plenty both ways. St Joseph plays in 70-75 degree weather and at game time it will be 95 degrees.
Also the new CVC QB 6’4 senior Eric Dragt is making his debut but played some last year. There are so many X factors and the big one is if St Joseph is a true Division 1 team then they need to knock off a division 4 team….
Pag Meter Prediction CVC 37 St Joseph 27
FINAL ST JOSEPH 42 CVC 6
Chase Artopoeus made his first start as the Knights QB and boy he is good going 15-23 for 352 yards and 3 TD passes. (Darien Langley 93 yards; Trevor Cole 15 yards; Jack Blackburn 6 yards) and Devin Guggia scored 2 TD’s.
Stockdale Mustangs at Ridgeview Wolf Pack
Pag Meter line Ridgeview -21
The Mustangs come in with plenty of new faces and the Wolf Pack returns plenty of talent.
The X factor can the Mustangs offense match up with the speedy Pack defense?
Pag Meter Prediction Ridgeview 41 Stockdale 20
FINAL RIDGEVIEW 42 STOCKDALE 0
QB Tahj Wright threw 3 TD passes and scored a TD.
Sunnyside Wildcats at Frontier Titans
Pag Meter line Frontier -3
This is a great matchup and possible playoff matchup.
This is the speed of the Wildcats vs the Power of the Titans running game,
If this game was played at Sunnyside they would be favorites but it’s not and the Wildcats will have a new QB with sophomore Ekin Vu. The Wildcats will have plenty of talent around him but for the Wildcats to have a great ride home they need their new QB to shine.
For the Titans Senior running back Ernest Jackson will be tough in the back field and senior QB Dustin Montanio is back.
The X factor can the Wildcats play well on the road? The Wildcats have much more speed but needs to finish their drives with points.
Pag Meter Prediction Sunnyside 28 Frontier 25
FINAL FRONTIER 42 SUNNYSIDE 15
The Titans blew out the Wildcats and it wasn’t that close. QB Dustin Montanio went 17 of 21 passes for 223 yards and 3 TD passes. Clayton Kyle rushed for 129 yards and scored 2 scored TD’s. Ernest Jackson rushed for 80 yards and scored a TD.
Kolton Baker caught 9 passes for 79 yards and caught 2 TD passes.
Wasco Tigers at Tehachapi Warriors
Pag Meter line Tehachapi -14
Both teams will be much improved
For the Tigers they will want the ball in the hands of Noah Mcclain and Justin Horton. The Warriors will have senior QB Chris Garcia back with with some young Warriors on both sides of the ball.
Both teams will be pounding the football. The Warriors play a very tough schedule and they need this win. The Warriors can’t look ahead to next week at Bakersfield
The X factor is turnovers
Pag Meter Prediction Tehachapi 34 Wasco 20
FINAL WASCO 28 TEHACHAPI 22
Tigers, Elias Salinas rushed for 85 yards, scored 2 TD’s, Joel Rocha rushed for 85 yards, scored a TD, and Jacob Villanueva rushd for 43 yards and scored a TD.
Yosemite Badgers at Riverdale Cowboys
Pag Meter line Yosemite -13
Last year both teams had tremendous years. The Badgers went 9-1 and the Cowboys went 9-3.
This year the Badgers are late to the party because of all the bad air up by Yosemite. Plenty of practices in the Gym. The Badgers have new coach with Chance Sigala and coach will have a strong team with Senior QB Tyson Mansfield who returns and the team leader.
Leading the way for the Badgers will be junior Nicholas Harper who is a very good running back and safety. Also at running back will be Diego Combs, Ernie Jimenez, Justin Micallef, Matt Dugovic and Kyler Schaeffer. These guys are very athletic.. Plenty of Badgers return on defense.
For the Cowboys they will have junior QB Mason Musgrave and Junior RB Jonathan Solorio.
The X factor who will be fresher in the 4th quarter with plenty playing both ways on a hot night. THE BADGERS WERE REAL FRESH
Pag Meter Prediction Yosemite 33 Riverdale 20
FINAL YOSEMITE 28 RIVERDALE 0 QB Tyson Mansfield hit Paul Antonis on an 11 yard TD pass to start the scoring. . From there it was all on the ground. Nicholas Harper scored on a 6-yard run and YHS was up 14-0 at halftime. The Badgers finished their scoring in the 3rd quarter. Kyler Schaeffer scored on a 59-yard run. Harper closed out the third with a 50-yard touchdown. Harper finished with 120 yards rushing and Schaeffer with 93 rushing yards.
Central Catholic Raiders at Clovis West Golden Eagles
Pag Meter line Central Catholic -7
The Raiders line it up and run downhill right at you with a very big and physical offensive line.
The Private Professional High School has a small-enrollment of 375 but that 375 are special. Central Catholic was moved up to Division II for the Sac-Joaquin Section postseason in 2016, one year after it won its fourth consecutive CIF State Bowl. This year they play the toughest preseason schedule in Stanislaus District history with Clovis West, at De La Salle next week, the Holy Bowl vs rival St. Mary’s of Stockton on Aug. 31, vs Lincoln of Stockton on Sept 7 and a trip to Manteca on Sept. 14 who are the reigning Sac-Joaquin Section Division III champions.
For Clovis West they come in with their outstanding senior QB Dante Chachere who last year threw for 3,462 yards with 22 TD passes, rushed for 441 yards.
The Kryptonite for the Golden Eagles is facing big teams that run right at them. The Raiders will run it hard between the tackles.
For CW to win they have to have Dante throw quick passes and spread the field out and the young Golden Eagles defense better step up.
The X factor is the CW young players on defense. The Raiders have senior QB Kyle Jackson who is 6’0, 195 lbs and the best Raiders QB in years and now they have a new junior transfer QB Dalton Durossette, who was the Ceres QB.
For the Golden Eagles to win they have to score plenty of points because the CW defense needs to step up. ZERO
Will Central Catholic be looking head to next week hosting De La Salle? I just don’t trust the Golden Eagles defense. THE CW DEFENSE PLAYED PRETTY GOOD….IT WAS THE OFFENSE THAT STRUGGLED.
Pag Meter Prediction Central Catholic 34 Clovis West 27
FINAL CENTRAL CATHOLIC 21 CLOVIS WEST 0 The Golden Eagles defense hung in against a powerhouse but the CW offense had no answers
Liberty Patriots at Mission Viejo Diablos
Pag Meter line Mission Viejo -14
The Patriots play a very tough schedule and they open up against a Southern Section powerhouse and one of the best in California.
The Diablos will have Arizona State-bound QB Joey Yellen who returns after throwing for 2,439 yards and 29 TD passes. Mission Viejo will have Jamari Farrell at RB after rushing for 1,467 and scored 14 TD’s. The Diablos are big and fast.
The Patriots are a physical team that can match up but Mission Viejo has it all.
The X factor is the Patriots have last years backup QB Dakota Ochoa and Redwood transfer senior Hector Gonzales who last year threw for 2,133 yards with 23 TD passes. Hector has the experience to lead this team to championship night. It’s a tough way to start against an outstanding Mission Viejo defense. The Patriots are ready to rotate both QB’s. IN THE HISTORY OF FOOTBALL, TEAMS THAT ROTATE QB’s HAVE NEVER BEEN SUCCESSFUL!!
Even if the Patriots can not pull out a win, they will not go down in the Pag Meter Rankings because if they stay healthy they can go on a good winning streak. They only team in the Central Section that can beat Mission Viejo would maybe be Central. Everybody else…..Zero chance of winning on the road.
Pag Meter Prediction Mission Viejo 35 Liberty 21
FINAL MISSION VIEJO 34 LIBERTY 10 The Patriots Sam Stewart, Jr. led Liberty with 58 rushing yards on 15 carries. Winston Jountti had 28 yards on 6 carries, Anthony Villanueva had 37 rushing yards on 11 carries and Nathan Marical had 32 rushing yards on three carries in the fourth quarter. The Patriots rotating QB idea did not work and it will never work against a good defense.
Littlerock Lobos at Rosamond Roadrunners
Pag Meter line Rosamond -27
The X factor is the Lobos defense and can they slow down Roadrunners senior QB Isiah Escobar who last year threw for 2,504 yards with 32 touchdown passes, rushed for 927 yards and scored 11 touchdowns.
Pag Meter Prediction Rosamond 41 Littlerock 13
Los Banos Tigers at Dos Palos Broncos
Pag Meter Los Banos -23
The Tigers lose some of their firepower on offense because of graduation but they will bring back outstanding senior RB Antonio Lopez who rushed for 1,318 yards and scored 16 TD’s. The Tigers will be fast again.
For the Broncos they will be young and has plenty of potential.
The X factor are the Broncos are ready to hang with the Tigers? THEY WERE!
Pag Meter Prediction Los Banos 43 Dos Palos 20
FINAL LOS BANOS 26 DOS PALOS 20 Justin Incaprera scored a 1-yard TD in overtime and the Tigers beat the Broncos. Dos Palos Ronald Johnson broke free for a 35-yard touchdown run and Ryan Ramirez added a 4-yard touchdown run. The Broncos answered with Johnson scoring his 2nd touchdown on a 2-yard run and led the Broncos with 122 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns on 12 carries.
Mariposa Grizzlies at Minarets Mustangs
Pag Meter line Minarets -14
This is always a great matchup. The Grizzlies have a new head coach with Robert Stitt and plenty return for the Grizzlies but they won’t have senior QB Colton Weidner who threw for 2,242 yards and has left for Nevada so the Grizzlies will probably pound it with senior RB Logan Donati.
For Minarets this could be the best team in school history. The Mustangs are loaded with receivers and defensive backs. Leading the way will be seniors Zack Redman and Preston Conti. The QB will be junior Martin Urroz. THIS IS A BAD LOSS FOR A VERY GOOD TEAM.
The X factor will be the Mustangs defensive line because the Grizzlies will want to pound the ball and keep the clock ticking to keep the Mustangs offense on the sidelines.
Pag Meter Prediction Minarets 35 Mariposa 21
FINAL MARIPOSA 15 MINARETS 13 Minarets had 10 penalties for 90 yards plus 5 interceptions. Mariposa came back from a 7-6 halftime deficit and held a 15-6 lead early in the 4th quarter. Minarets closed the gap on a Preston Conti touchdown catch. With less than 2 minutes to play, Grizzlies Christian Stockwell sealed the win for Mariposa with an interception.
Ontario Christian Knights at Bishop Union Broncos
Pag Meter line Ontario Christian -3
The X factor is the Broncos defense at home. Plenty of Broncos return for this year. The Knights return plenty and last year Ontario Christian beat Bishop Union 27-17 so can the Broncos when at home? Both teams will want to pound the football.
Pag Meter Prediction Bishop Union 23 Ontario Christian 20
BISHOP UNION 6 ONTARIO CHRISTIAN 0
Santa Ynez Pirates at Nipomo Titans
Pag Meter line Nipomo -7
The Pirates graduated 23 seniors, including many skilled stars. 27 juniors are back for their senior seasons and 16 former sophomores are entering their junior year.
For the Titans they have 6 returning starters on offense and 7 on defense including Junior quarterback Brayden Groshart.
The X factor is always better to have a returning QB for the Titans over a QB making his debut with Anthony Gills who will be running the spread attack for the Pirates.
Last year Santa Ynez crushed Nipomo 35-3 and football is about matchups.
Pag Meter Prediction Nipomo 27 Santa Ynez 20
FINAL NIPOMO 17 SANTA YNEZ 14 Nipomo trailed 14-10 with 4 minutes to go and that’s when Anthony Perez stepped in and picked off a pass and took it back for the game winning TD. Nipomo played very sloppy with 17 penalties.
Silver Valley Trojans at Boron Bobcats
Pag Meter line Boron -7
The X factor is the Trojans are a pretty good football but so are the young Bobcats
Pag Meter Prediction Boron 26 Silver Valley 19
FINAL BORON 28 SILVER VALLEY 8

Modesto Panthers at Clovis Cougars
Pag Meter line Clovis -7
Both teams come in with some questions. Both teams will have a new QB. The Cougars will have Bullard transfer junior Isaiah Robles. The Cougars need to be able to run the football to win. The Panthers are good on defense. VERY GOOD ON DEFENSE!
The Cougars defensive line is their strength and against the run.
This game looks very even. The Panthers had a very good summer with 7 vs 7 and will have a very good new QB with Alonzo Rodriguez.
The X factor is the Panthers have a real good running back with Zaire Eugene. The other big X factor is the Clovis QB play. For the Cougars to be successful this year….They will need good and steady QB. If not …..not a good year. IT WAS A GREAT NIGHT!
Pag Meter Prediction Clovis 27 Modesto 20
FINAL CLOVIS 42 MODESTO 14
The Cougars got a big night from their new QB Isaiah Robles who went 18 of 26 for 242 yards and 5 TD passes. Matthew Sanchez caught 6 passes for 100 yards and 2 TD’s. The Cougars defense looks like they have the makings to be very good.
