12th seed Central Basketball Shocks 5th seed Saint Francis

The Grizzlies were entering this season with one goal and that was to win their 3rd straight valley title. The Grizzlies would do just that by beating Bullard 79-77 in the game of the year! Central had all of the momentum going into the second half but when Senior Guard Cashemin Williams picked up his fourth foul in the 3rd quarter, Central started to fall apart.

Former Bullard star Uriah Carter would not let that happen picking up the Grizzlies alongside with Cam’ron Wilson. Both players had a huge second half. Uriah would finish with 19 points and Cam’ron would finish with 20 points and would be named MVP of the game. But how about Cashemin Williams setting up Junior Jahmai Bartley for the game winning basket. Williams finished the game with 14 points and Bartley finished the game with 10 points. Central will now go for a 4 peat next year with rising stars like Tahriq Sharp and Shayne Hollenbeck.

But now Central had new goal and that was to beat 5th seed Saint Francis from Mountain View and the Grizzlies did just that. Central beat Saint Francis 73-72 on a game winning basketball from Cashemin Williams with 4 seconds to go. The Grizzlies got big time production from both senior guards, Williams who finished with 16 points and Carter with 25 points, with Wilson adding 13 points. Central will now face 13 seed Menlo School, Saturday night at Central East. The winner will advance and take on the number 1 seed Heritage or 8th seed Palo Alto on the road.

Central has a great chance on moving to regional semifinals but first they have to take care of Menlo School. Keys to this game for Central will be they have to rebound the ball, win the paint battle, and they have to take care of the ball against a very good defense who averages about 10 steals a game. Can Central pull off another upset and move on or will their season end Saturday Night? Find out Saturday Night @6pm @Central East High School, be there!!!
