Sanger High Baseball

Sanger baseball began their season with a shutout behind Jake Herrell on Saturday night. Head coach David Cuellar said this year’s team is special because of their really hard work all offseason and being a team of players who have “all stuck together” throughout the entire year with not one person left out. He commented on how returning varsity players, “have a bad taste in their mouths coming back from the Mt. Whitney game” which had ended their very successful 2017 season, resulting in motivation for this season as a whole. The Apache varsity baseball team is trying to be “committed to the process of becoming better baseball players” and a better team, with each player understanding their individual role. Cuellar says to specifically look out for apaches Herrell (#9), Boissonneault (#8), Herring (#3), and Quinonez (#1) amidst the talented team.
Last Saturday they won their first game if the season 7-0 with the offense coming alive in the 2nd inning. This week the rivals from Reedley came on Thursday for a night game and on Saturday they will play an afternoon game at Lemoore. On Wednesday February 28th varsity and JV will be playing at Selma for a 3:30 first pitch. Next Saturday March 3rd will be a game against Kingsburg played at Fowler at 3:00pm. Go apaches!
