Sanger Athletics Week in Review

The winter season is finishing up with postseason games and spring season kicking off soon. Sanger High School has lots going on everyday, keep reading for a brief overview of athletics from both last week and the upcoming week.
Boys soccer has been successful as of late and playing championship games this week. Stockdale came to Tom Flores Stadium on Tuesday and Sanger kept the ball on offense most of the game. The apaches were victorious in that match up by a score of 3-0, meaning they’d move on to the quarterfinals, playing at Redwood on Thursday February 15th. Unfortunately the apaches finished off their season there in a close game, final score 0-1. The Sanger soccer program this school year had some new coaching staff and great upbeat energy on their teams, ultimately with a varsity overall record of 11-13-4. Thank you to the seniors for all the time and hard work devoted to apaches soccer, and congratulations to all the athletes on a great season!
Our season comes to an end in a hard fought battle. Very proud of the teams effort, but even more proud of the teams growth this season. We really hit our stride here at the end, and have a lot to look forward to. Thank you to our seniors for everything! Now go out and be great!! pic.twitter.com/lvURT6pB6H

Girls soccer have been playing well, finishing their last five games with either a win or a tie. After a bye, the apaches will be playing tonight, Friday, at home against the Liberty Hawks as a part of the Central Section CIF Girls Soccer Championships for division 2.
Boys basketball has had a week of two losses to finish off their regular season. On Friday night the apaches lost to Bullard by 10 points. The varsity team traveled to Edison on Tuesday and lost 38-49. The boys are ranked number one in their division and have playoff games coming soon.
Girls basketball also lost their last two games of the regular season, against Bullard and Edison.
Boys wrestling had CMAC varsity championships last weekend, and will participate in the Varsity Central Section Yosemite Divisionals this weekend.
Girls wrestling has had a very long last couple of days with the Varsity Central Section Championships. Whoever qualifies will have the CIF State Championships next Friday.
Sanger baseball games start this week! This Saturday, February 17th is the home opener at 6pm against Hanford West. Next week the boys will host our rivals from Reedley at 3:30. The apaches are looking to start with some wins and carry the momentum into the season.
The other spring sports—lacrosse, boys golf, badminton, softball, swimming and diving, track and field, and boys volleyball— are close behind with events coming up later this month.
