Madera South Sports

The year 2017 has ended and 2018 has begun! Goodbye Fall Sports and hello Winter, which means you can go out and support our Madera South Girls/Boys Basketball, Girls/Boys Soccer, and Wrestling! Of course we will miss our Fall athletes, but we welcome our Winter girls and boys! Each team have had positives to begin their season, and despite some setbacks, we look forward to seeing our Winter sports have an amazing season.
Madera South Boys Basketball has had a terrific start to their season while on the quest for a second chance this year. Our boys had a win of 55-50 on January 9th against Mclane High School. They faced Edison High School Tuesday, January 16th and finished with a loss of 52-64, but we look forward to seeing the results of their upcoming game at Sanger High School Friday, January 19th at 6:30 pm.
Our Lady Basketball team has also been on an uplifting start to their season including their amazing win vs. Edison Wednesday, January 17th with a final score of 50-44! Amazing job to our ballers! Come out to support our girls during their home faceoff game vs. Sanger High School Friday, January 19th at 3:30/5:00/6:30.
January 11th, our Boys Soccer team faced CMAC opponent Bullard High School and finished with an outstanding win of 2-0. Following this, on Tuesday, January 16th our boys competed against Edison High School and had a hard fought game finishing with a loss of 0-1. Despite the final outcome, our soccer players played a tough game and are excited to carry over their heart and hard work to their home game vs. MHS Thursday, January 18th at 3:00/5:00. Goodluck to our Boys Soccer team, play your hearts out!

Our Girls Soccer team played vs. Edison High School Wednesday, January 17th and despite tough effort, finished with a loss of 1-6. We look forward to seeing our girls fight against MHS next, on Friday, January 19th at 3:00/5:00. Good luck to our girls, fight hard!
MSHS Wrestling have been off to an outstanding start with our JV team finishing 3rd out of 30 teams in the Sanger JV Championships, along with our girl wrestlers such as Clarabelle Morales placing 3rd at 106 lbs and Mercedes Herrera also finishing in 3rd at 189 lbs. Congratulations to our boys finishing 13th out of 25 teams at the Firebaugh Varsity Westside Tournament January 13th, which included Ricardo Rivera taking 4th place at 120 lbs, Ruben Marciel taking 6th place at 126 lbs, Abel Cardenas taking 5th place at 152 lbs, and Roman Guillen finishing 1st at 160 lbs! Goodluck to our varsity wrestlers with the California Invitational Tournament in Morro Bay coming next, January 19th and 20th. Also goodluck to our JV and girl wrestlers competing in the Ricky Miranda Tournament at Enoch High January 20th.
