Winter Sports At Sanger

Winter sports at Sanger High continue to excel on the basketball court, soccer field, and wrestling mats. Despite a vacation, the current and upcoming sports teams were playing, practicing, competing, and bringing home lots of W’s for the Apaches.
Boys basketball had lots of games over the three week break, going 10-3 from December 13th through January 3rd. They had a tough loss against Sunnyside last week, giving up the lead in the fourth quarter. On Friday the 12th the Apaches will be playing at Madera. Next week the basketball team will play two games at home, against San Joaquin Memorial on Tuesday and Madera South on Friday.
Girls basketball was 8-4 in games from December through January 6. Friday is a home game against Madera at 6:30. The Apaches play away games on Monday Wednesday and Friday night.
Boys soccer came back to school with 3 more wins and won against Madera South on Monday, 1-0 score. Next week they play Madera on Tuesday and San Joaquin Memorial on Thursday night.
From December 15th to January 10th the girls soccer team has gone 6-2, winning all four of their games in the McLane Winter Classic. On Wednesday the lady apaches played at Madera South and won by a score of 1-0.
The JV boys wrestling team hosts the Sanger Invitational on Saturday. Next week will be the match against Madera South on Wednesday, and a tournament in Morro Bay over the weekend of the 19th.
Girls wrestling hosts the Varsity Sanger Girls Wrestling Championships on Saturday the 13th. Next Friday the apaches will be wrestling in the Lady Hawk Invitational at Mission Oak High School.
