A Year ago Central had a chance to bring its first section title ever but a late interception thrown by Tompkins cost them.
Now that’s a story from last year this Grizzlies team is much improved and almost beat powerhouse De La Salle. The Grizzlies are coming off a very good 35-27 win against the Bakersfield drillers a revenge game.
With 2 fourth quarter TD passes from Trent Tompkins (of his 4 for the game), Central goes from a 21-19 lead on Bakersfield to 35-19. @grizzlyathletes ultimately win 35-27, will host D-I Valley Title game for 2nd straight year. How about Tompkins throwing for 4 touchdowns for over 250 yards on 17-26 completions. The 6,0 Junior QB has been ridiculous and should be getting offers from big-time schools very soon. But what’s special about Tompkins is getting everyone involved and he got the sophomore Jeremiah Hunter involved a lot Hunter had 2 touchdowns with 6 catches for 78 yards. The Grizzlies defense was outstanding once again holding the Drillers to only 101 passing yards. Linebacker Tre Walker, Dominic Mendez, and Jacob Hollins combined for over 40 tackles.

Central will now play Buchanan for the section title. The Grizzlies beat Buchanan in the first matchup 28-27 in a classic one. But both teams have improved and this game is lined up to be another classic one. The X- Factor for this game is can Central slow down Buchanan run game last time these teams met Buchanan had 400 rushing yards on the ground.
