Sanger High School Approaches Winter Athletics

Sanger High School has come upon their winter athletics, with wrestling, soccer, and basketball games starting.

First off though, a recap of the very successful apache fall season:

Girls Golf placed third in CMAC with 36 points. They won the CIF Central Area Championship Tournament at the end of October and qualified for the Central Section Division II tournament.

Cross county boys placed 2nd in CMAC, and the girls placed 3rd.

Girls volleyball finished their season with a 9-27 overall record, going 5-5 in CMAC competitions.

Football finished with an overall season record of 8-2, 3-2 in CMAC.

Girls tennis team was CMAC champions, going 9-1. The overall record was 19-4, losing in semifinals.

Boys water polo went 11-16 overall, with a CMAC record of 4-6 and lost in the first round.

Girls water polo is still playing as they won the CIF Northern California quarterfinal on Tuesday by a score of 8-2 vs Monache. Their regular season team record was 24-4, with 10 wins as CMAC champions.

Boys soccer won their scrimmage against Parlier on Tuesday by a score of 5-2.. The JV team also won their home game 8-1. Their upcoming game is next Tuesday at Tulare Union. The boy’s soccer team will also play the following Tuesday, at McLane.

Girls soccer season starts on Tuesday the 21st when they play at Tulare Union. They are scheduled to also play the next Tuesday, at Redwood in Visalia.

Boys and girls wrestling begin their competitions with a tournament over Thanksgiving break.

Boys basketball plays their first game at home on Tuesday, November 21st against El Capitan. The following week they will participate in the Varsity Nordhoff Tournament.

Girls basketball begin with the Sanger Scrimmage Carnival on November 18th at the high school. On Wednesday the 22nd the team will travel to Porterville.
