PAG METER WEEK 8 FINAL SCORES

Thursday Night Football Finals

EAST YOSEMITE
Porterville Panthers (3-3) (1-1) vs Tulare Western Mustangs (7-0) (2-0)
at Tulare Union 7:30pm
Pag Meter line Tulare Western -41
The Mustangs are rolling on both sides of the ball.
The X factor is the Panthers defense and can they slow down red hot David Alcantar? This year Alcantar has scored 16 TD’s. The Mustangs defense needs to get more credit. They have given up only 49 points in 6 games.
Pag Meter prediction Tulare Western 48 Porterville 7

Final Tulare Western 51 Porterville 0

The Mustangs are 2-0 in the EYL and 2 straight shutouts. The Mustangs finished with 599 yards of total offense. David Alcantar was the leading figure again for the Mustang offense. Alcantar had 253 yards from scrimmage (178 rushing, 75 receiving) and scored 4 touchdowns (20 TD’s on the year).  Tairyn Johnson finished with 139 yards rushing and scored 2 touchdowns on 13 carries. He had scored on TD runs of 63 and 27 yards.

NORTH YOSEMITE
Sunnyside Wildcats (4-3) (2-0) at McLane Highlanders (0-7) (0-2)
Pag Meter line Sunnyside -45
The X factor the Wildcats defense will shut down the Highlanders. The Wildcats are in the driver’s seat to winning the NYL. This is the time of the year to get on a hot streak that rolls into the division 2 playoffs.
Pag Meter prediction Sunnyside 51 McLane 6

Final Sunnyside 58 McLane 8

WEST YOSEMITE
Hanford West Huskies (3-5) (0-4) vs El Diamante Miners (4-3) (3-0)
Pag Meter line El Diamante -31
The Miners come off a bye and starting to play great on both sides of the ball.
The X factor is the Huskies front 7 has their hands full. Miners senior running back Devontae Freeman is on fire averaging 170 yards per game the last 3 games.
Pag Meter prediction El Diamante 44 Hanford West 13

Final El Diamante 54 Hanford West 13

Devontae Freeman rushed for 142 yards on 16 carries and scored 2 TD’s. Junior QB Parker Boswell went 4-of-5 passes for 88 yards and threw 2 TD passes each to Jared Torres and Jake Garbani. Jake also scored on an 12 yard TD run.

Friday Night Lights Finals

CMAC
Bullard Knights (3-4)(2-0) at Madera Coyotes (4-3) (0-2)
Pag Meter line Bullard -14
It’s the old coach (Don Arax) vs the new coach (Yosef Fares) who coached together for a long time.
The Knights come off a big win over Sanger 27-6 and the Coyotes lost to Edison 43-14.
This is the Knights power running game with Marcus Fulcher vs the Coyotes passing game with QB Colt Nelson. For the year Fulcher has rushed for 847 and scored 9 TD’s. Nelson has thrown for over 1,767 yards with 15 TD’s.
The X factor is the Coyotes defense and can they slow down the Knights running game?
Last year the Knights won 42-7 but this year the Coyotes are million times better.
The Key will be the 3rd quarter. Who can come out after halftime with a fast start?
Pag Meter prediction Bullard 41 Madera 27

Final Bullard 42 Madera 20

Marcus Fulcher rushed for 251 yards and scored 3 TD’s. QB Kalei Acfalle went 11-16 for 119 yards and 1 TD pass.

Edison Tigers (4-3) (2-0) at Memorial Panthers (6-1) (1-1)
Pag Meter line Edison -11
940 ESPN Radio Game of the week
The Battle of big Cats!
Wow what a huge match up with the best defense (Tigers) vs the hottest offense in the valley (Panthers).
The X factor can the Panthers offense handle the man to man in your face defense? Ask Madera how that worked out last week. The Tigers crushed the Coyotes outstanding passing attack 43-14. The Panthers beat up Madera South 62-6.
Memorial has never beaten the Edison Tigers in school history so is this year it happens? The other big X factor is the Panthers defense matching up with the new and improved Tigers offense. The Tigers offense is so much better than the Panthers defense. Panthers QB Alec Trujillo has thrown for 1,781 yards with 22 TD passes but this week he will have to throw quicker passes because the Tigers pressure is coming and coming hard. Tigers QB is sophomore Jameson Silva and he is getting better and better. Can the big Memorial offensive line handle the big Tigers defensive line? Stay tuned. The Panthers defense has to play their best game in 5 years to win the first game ever over Edison.
Pag Meter prediction Edison 35 Memorial 24

Final Edison 41 Memorial 27

Mckinley Lee had another big game rushing for over 200 yards and scored 2 TD’s. Taylin Green also went over 100 yards and scored 2 TD’s.

Madera South Stallions (1-6) (0-2) at Sanger Apaches (6-1) (1-1)
Pag Meter line Sanger -41
The X factor the Stallions offense can’t keep up with the Apaches. The Apaches are so dangerous when Jalen Cropper is at QB. The Stallions have to focus on Cropper because Cropper loves to keep the ball. Look for Mathew Poptat Manoz to take over at QB for Madera South and he has the potential to be electric. The Stallions have a zero offense and has to play in the very tough CMAC.
Pag Meter prediction Sanger 54 Madera 13

Final Sanger 40 Madera South 3

Jalen Cropper played his first full game at QB and he was outstanding going 9-10 for 149 yards and 2 TD passes. (Josiah Lopez, 20 yards and Morice Norris  13 yards) Alex Saefong started off the game when he took back the opening kickoff for an 85 yard TD and he also scored on a 1 yard TD run.  Bli Kulow scored on a 23 yard TD run.

TRAC
Clovis West Golden Eagles (6-1) (2-0) at Buchanan Bears (5-2) (0-2)
Pag Meter line Clovis West -3
The battle of the Clovis West offense vs the Bears defense.
Don’t forget the other side of the ball with the Clovis West defense & the Schramm boys vs Trevor Ervin, Kendall Melton and the outstanding offensive line of the Bears.
Will the Bears go with Clovis North transfer at QB Carson Bailey? Stay tuned on that. As of now the Bears have a zero passing game. It’s amazing that the Bears offensive line did such a great job against the Grizzlies defense without the passing game.
The X factor, the Bears and can they run on the Golden Eagles defense without passing the football? CW QB Dante Chachere has been so good at making great decisions and the offense is so dangerous.
This should be a very good game but I can’t see the Bears winning the big games without a chance of completing a pass.
Pag Meter prediction Clovis West 27 Buchanan 24

Final Clovis West 36 Buchanan 17

The Golden Eagles defense shut down the Bears in the 2nd half after trailing 14-3 at the half.  CW QB Dante Chachere has now thrown for 1,848 yards with 15 TD passes. CW kicker Eli Riofrio moved into the 5th spot in section history by making two field goals and now has 23 for his career. Riofrio leads the section with 9 field goals for the season and has made 31 of 33 PAT’s.

Clovis North Broncos (2-5) (1-1) vs Clovis East T Wolves (0-7) (0-2)
Pag Meter line Clovis North -6
This is a big game for both teams because it might be the only game both teams might win again this year.
The X factor is the T Wolves and will this be the year the T Wolves win their first TRAC game in 8 years? The T Wolves haven’t won a TRAC game since Oct 16, 2009 when they beat Clovis. 42 straight losses. Is the pressure on the Clovis North Broncos?
Pag Meter prediction Clovis Broncos 20 Clovis East 13

Final Clovis North 21 Clovis East 7

The T Wolves losing TRAC streak is now at 43

SOUTHWEST YOSEMITE
Garces Rams (2-5) (2-0) at Centennial Golden Hawks (2-5) (1-2)
Pag Meter line Centennial-7
Both teams come in after getting big wins.
The X factor is the Golden Hawks defense and can they have another good game. The Rams are young and so well coached. Can the Rams defense slow down QB Will Alexander? The Rams have sophomore QB Joseph Campbell who is going to be so good.
Pag Meter prediction Centennial 37 Garces 30

Final Garces 28 Centennial 21

Nick Sill returned a fumble 50 yards for the go-ahead touchdown for Garces with just over three minutes remaining. Rams, Isaiah Martin carried the ball 22 times for 121 yards and scored 2 TD’s.  Centennial quarterback Will Alexander finished 26-36 passing for 350 yards and a touchdown. Alexander also had a 1-yard touchdown run.

Bakersfield Drillers (3-4) (1-1) at Frontier Titans (5-2) (0-2)
Pag Meter line Bakersfield -3
Who would have thought that one of these teams would be 0-2 in the SWYL? It’s going to happen. Can the Drillers clean up their act on and off the field? This team reminds me of 2 years ago when the Drillers fell apart right about this time. The Drillers have way too much talent for that to happen. The Titans found out last week that the SWYL is tough. Can the Titans running attack of Tye Johnson and J.J. Flores along with the offensive line control this game?
The X factor is the Drillers playing together as a team.
Pag Meter prediction Bakersfield 33 Frontier 30

Final Bakersfield 26 Frontier 14

Tahj Wright rushed for 145 yards, scored on a 53 yard TD runs and caught a 71 yard TD pass from Jacob Maran.  Maran also hit Isaiah Jernagin on a 29 yard TD pass.

Stockdale Mustangs (2-5) (0-2) at Liberty Patriots (3-4) (2-0)
Pag Meter line Liberty-18
The X factor is the Patriots will get better when the weather gets colder and it is getting colder. It’s Sammy Stewart time.
Pag Meter prediction Liberty 34 Stockdale 16

Final Liberty 33 Stockdale 22

Sammy Stewart rushed for 120 yards and scored 3 TD’s.

CENTRAL SEQUOIA
Selma Bears (5-2) (0-2) at Dinuba Emperors (6-1) )(2-0)
Pag Meter line Dinuba -25
The Bears are 5-1 and overall not a great team but are 5-1 because they have Mr. dangerous Junior Ramirez. The Bears will get the ball into the hands of Junior anyway they can.
This week the big problem for the Bears will be they will struggle running the football and they are playing the best team they will play at year long vs the Dinuba Emperors.
The X factor is the Bears are a winning machine but Dinuba is a much better team right now and will roll. Dinuba is the best team in the Central Sequoia!
Pag Meter prediction Dinuba 45 Selma 20

Final Dinuba 35 Selma 10

Pag Meter nailed the point spread. QB Josh Magana went 11-17 for 168 yards and 1 TD pass.

Exeter Monarchs (5-2) (1-1) vs Immanuel Eagles (3-3) (0-2)

The X factor is the Monarchs are struggling on both sides of the ball so can they clean up their act? The Eagles are tough at home.
Pag Meter prediction Immanuel 29 Exeter 24

Final Exeter 38 Immanuel 21

The Monarchs got back to pounding the football with a very good offensive line.

Kingsburg Vikings (5-2) (1-1) at Central Valley Christian (7-0) (2-0)
Pag Meter line CVC -7
The CSL game of the week. Both teams come in red hot. Will CVC come in with a hangover after beating Selma. The Caves better bring their A game because the Vikings are good.
The X factor is the CVC defense because the Vikings offense has speed.
Pag Meter prediction (Upset alert) Kingsburg 30 CVC 28

Final CVC 24 Kingsburg 7

The Pag Meter missed this upset pick and big credit goes to the Caves defense. RB Jaalen Rening rushed for 114 yards and scored 2 TD’s. QB JJ Lino went 14-21 for 189 yards and 1 TD pass.

NORTH YOSEMITE
Fresno High Warriors (4-3) (2-0) vs Hoover Patriots (1-6) (0-2)
Pag Meter line Fresno High-27
What happened to the Patriots last week in the 30-0 crushing loss to Reedley? The Pag Meter didn’t see that coming. The Patriots are changing it up at QB and will start Vincent Magic Andrews who transferred in from Washington Union so this should open up the offense with Tahj Hart and Jordan Daniels spreading the field out.
The X factor is the Patriots defense because the Warriors offense is good.
Pag Meter prediction Fresno High 44 Hoover 17

Final Fresno High 46 Hoover 6 (No stats available)

Roosevelt Rough Riders (4-3) (1-1) vs Reedley Pirates(1-6) (1-1)

Saturday Football Special Final

TRAC
Central Grizzlies (6-1) (2-0) at Clovis Cougars (5-2) (1-1)
Pag Meter line Central -21
The Grizzlies had to pull out a win over Buchanan 28-27. They didn’t play a good game and they still won. An ugly win is way better than an ugly loss.
The Cougars didn’t play well either in the win over Clovis East 28-14. The Cougars are still beat up with injuries.
The X factor is I’m thinking the Cougars will hold out QB Kurt Mayer and RB Cole Roberts one more week because they are not 100%. The Central speed will be too much for Clovis. The Cougars offense will not have enough this week against the Grizzlies defense.
Look for Trent Tompkins and Jevon Bigelow to have big games.
Pag Meter prediction Central 35 Clovis 14

Final Central 33 Clovis 0

The Grizzlies defense beat up the Cougars offense. QB Trent Tompkins hit Jacob Torrez on a 22 yard TD pass. Diotry Brewer scored on a 3 yard TD run. Jeremiah Hunter caught a 31 yard TD pass from Trent Tompkins. Tre Walker scored on a 1 yard TD run. Javon Bigelow scored on a 27 yard TD run.
