EAST YOSEMITE

Mission Oak Hawks (0-6) (0-1) vs Porterville Panthers (3-2) (1-0)

This is a big game for both teams. The Hawks have played a killer schedule and the Panthers had to play No 3 Buchanan Bears.
The X factor is the Hawks offense and they need to play a clean game.

Panthers, Tanner Jones hit Mark Inman on the game winning TD pass with 2 seconds to go. Joey Sandoval scores on a TD run. Aaric Rico scores on a 14 yard TD run. Tanner Jones threw 2 TD passes. 

Monache Marauders (1-4) (0-1) at Tulare Union Tribe (6-0) (1-0)

The Marauders have improved a ton but will not have any answers on defense to slow down the Red Tribe machine.
Monache comes off a bye and TU beat Dinuba 69-47. Kazmeir Allen had a record night! Rushed for 335 yards rushing and a school-record 7 touchdowns on 30 carries. For the year Kaz has rushed for 994 yards and has scored 20 TD’s. Overall Kaz has scored 26 TD’s. Emoryie Edwards. had 9 catches for 263 yards and 3 touchdowns against Dinuba. Edwards is among state leaders with 751 yards receiving through 5 games. Allen and Edwards compiled 677 yards of total offense. Junior Tribe QB Nathan Lamb was 15-of-22 passing for 338 yards and 3 TD passes.
The X factor is the Monache offense and can they keep the ball with long drives and wear down the Red Tribe defense?

It was QB Nathan Lamb’s turn to have a big game and he sure did with 6 TD passes. Lamb went 21-26 for 406 yards and the 6 TD’s were 15, 30, 18, 20, 43 and 33 yards. Record breaking WR  Emoryie Edwards caught 11 passes for 265 yards and 3TD’s. Kazmeir Allen rushed for 124 yards and 3TD’s and Kaz now has scored 29 TD’s for the year. 

NORTH YOSEMITE
Fresno High Warriors (3-3) (1-0) vs McLane Highlanders (0-6) (0-1)

The Warriors have played a pretty tough schedule (except for Tranquility) and the McLane is struggling.

The early TRAC showdown. We will all find out if the Bears are the real deal. The Grizzlies have played a big schedule and the Bears have played a soft schedule. Could that be the difference in this game?
The X factor is the Grizzlies defense and will they let Bears outstanding sophomore RB Kendall Melton bounce to the outside? Kendall runs the Buck sweep so well. He waits for the hole to open, then he’s gone. Some of his long TD runs, he will start with a run up the middle and bounce to the outside. I can’t imagine the Grizzlies defense letting that happen.
The other X factor will be the Bears passing game. Bears haven’t needed a passing game in the their 5 wins but this week they will have to throw it a bit or the Grizzlies will control the line of scrimmage. Look for new transfer Carson Bailey from Clovis North to make his first start at QB.
Can the Bears defense slow down the outstanding offense of QB Trent Tompkins, red hot RB Jevon Bigelow and WR Jacob Torrez….? The Grizzlies have so many weapons.
When playing on Thursday night football, a lot of strange things happen. For the Bears, they have been waiting to prove they belong but with the soft schedule, we just don’t know. For the Bears, this is like when Central played De La Salle.. When you come off playing Porterville and now have to play the Grizzlies….

It’s official …the Bears are real good! (Except for the passing game).

The Pag Meter picked the winner but thought Central would roll and they had their chances but give big credit to the Buchanan Bears offensive line. The Bears ran right at the Grizzlies defense and Central had no answers to slow it down. What’s amazing is Buchanan has the worst passing game in the country and still ran on Central. Buchanan literally can’t throw it over hand. Trent Tompkins had a non Trent Tompkins 2nd half throwing 3 interceptions (Brock Jones (2) and Keenan Wolf) but still the gunslinger did what he had to do when he found Jacob Torrez  on a 23 yard TD pass and the game winner with 20 seconds to go. Tompkins completed 26 of 45 passes for 336 passing yards and 3 touchdown passes. (9 yarder to Avery Boyd and 17 yards to Tyrell Grayson). 1 yard TD run by Diotry Brewer.  Bears, Trevor Ervin finished with 216 yards including a 60 and 32 yard TD runs. Kendall Milton rushed for 129 yards. Buchanan played the perfect game for the big upset and Central played a horrible game coming in off the Bye. Could there be a rematch?? Stay tuned!

The X factor is the Cougars are coming in still beat up. QB Payton Mayer probably looking at 2 more weeks. RB Cole Roberts maybe another week.

The T Wolves haven’t won a TRAC game since Oct 16, 2009 when they beat Clovis. They are on a 42 game TRAC losing streak.  Cougars QB Jake Sanders went 13-16 for 180 yards and scored a TD. Bubba Byrd and Jason Hunt also scored for Clovis. 

 

Clovis West Golden Eagles (5-1) (1-0) vs Clovis North Broncos (1-5) (0-1)

The Golden Eagles offense is real good and the Broncos offense is not. It’s that simple. The Broncos defense has carried the team the first 5 games but it can only do so much and now goes against a very good Golden Eagles defense.
The X factor, there is a zero chance that Clovis North is winning this game, the question is can the Broncos find the end zone?
The Broncos come off a bye and CW crushed Centennial 49-35 last Thursday. CW shut it down and Centennial put up some points late. QB Dante Chachere threw for 352 yards including a 99 yard TD pass to Nick Coleman who finished with 5 catches for 143 yards and Rodney Wright had 136 total yards and 2 touchdowns. If CW shuts it down early, then the Broncos will score a few.

Rodney Wright open the game up with a 90 yard kickoff return for a TD and that was pretty much game-set-match. Dante Chachere scored on a 3 yard run. Jeremiah Ellison scored on a TD run. Dante hit Tykee Woods on a TD pass.

Madera Coyotes (4-2) (0-1) vs Edison Tigers (3-3) (1-0)

This is the outstanding Coyotes offense vs the Tigers and best defense in the valley.
Madera QB Colt Nelson has thrown 13 TD passes and is over 1000 yards passing.
The X factor can the Coyotes handle the Tigers man to man in your face defense? I guarantee you that Madera has not seen anything close to the Tigers defense in their first 5 games.
The Tigers offense is a work in progress so the Coyotes defense has to play a great game to win because the Tigers are a big play team. Tigers Sophomore QB Jameson Silva is coming around. Jamo had to make his varsity debut against Bakersfield…never easy.

The Panthers come in with QB Alec Trujillo who has thrown for 1,518 yards and 19 TD passes. Sophomore WR Jalen McMillan has caught 32 passes for 776 yard and has scored 8 TD’s.

The Apaches season finally starts and the Knights are probably wishing they played the Sanger schedule. The Knights are very young and played one of the toughest schedules in the valley.
The Apaches come in after beating up Reedley and the Knights had a bye.
There is a couple of X factors in this game.
No 1, is Apaches QB Blake Wolf and he is one of the most accurate passers in the valley and can the Knights defense slow down Jalen Cropper and Wolf?
No 2, Can Marcus Fulcher and the Knights offense match up with the Apaches defense?
This is not the Great Apaches team from last year. If Fulcher has a big game, the Knights win. Marcus did!

Just like that the Garces Rams are back in the Pag Meter Top 10. Sophomore kicker Peter Delles nailed a 33-yard field goal on the final play of the game and the Rams are 1-0 in the SWYL.   QB Joseph Campbell  hit senior Zachary Hebbard on a 30-yard TD pass. The Rams held the lead until Wesley Wilson scored on a 3-yard run and Ceyontay Bell — who had a team-high 113 rushing yards for BHS — scored on the 2-point conversion to give the Drillers an 18-17 lead with 1:50 to play. Rams, Isaiah Martin carried the 30 times for a game-high 127 yards. Put up Garces head coach A.J. Gass for coach of the year. Played a very tough schedule and beat the Drillers with a young group.

Centennial Golden Hawks (2-4) (1-0) at Stockdale Mustangs (2-4) (0-1)

This is a very good matchup of two teams that need a win. Both offenses are real good so the X factor is which defense will show up? The Mustangs defense is a tad better but Centennial has played the tougher schedule.

Will Alexander threw 3 TD passes and the Golden Hawks defense played outstanding. Cody Hartsfield with a 8 yard TD run.  Zach Hartsfield caught a 27 yard TD pass,  Zach Hernandez 5 and 25 yard TD catches. Cody Gregg with a 28 yard Field Goal.

It’s the big SWYL game of the week. The Titans are red hot and the Patriots are beat up.
The X factor is the Liberty Patriots and can they restart their season?
The Titans have Tye Johnson who has rushed for 781 yards and has scored 8 TD’s and Tye’s side kick J.J. Flores. Liberty is at home and still have big Sammy Stewart and QB Isaiah Hill.
The Patriots played a tough schedule to prepare them for games like this one.

Kai Caudell rushed for 218 yards rushing and scored 2 touchdowns including a 58-yard TD run.  Lemoore’s Damion Charleston rushed for 293 yards rushing on 24 carries and scored 3 touchdowns on runs of 7, 22 and 8 yards.

Both offenses are starting to crank it up. The Bears defense is starting to play better and they will have to against the red hot Caves offense which is led by senior QB J.J, Lino who has thrown for 999 yards and 17 TD passes. J.J. favorite receiver is Gavin Salierno who has caught 33 passes for 578 yards and has scored 8 TD’s.
For the defending champion Bears it starts and ends with senior QB Junior Ramirez who has thrown for 472 yards and has rushed for 217 yards.
The X factor is Bears Tiveon Stroud is now officially off the team so the Bears running game will not be the same.

The Mustangs steam rolled the Fresno High Warriors 44-7 and they didn’t even have outstanding WR Keshon Butler who was out sick. David Alcantar scored 5 touchdowns, rushed for 111 yards on 18 carries for 4 touchdowns and had 5 receptions for 84 yards and scored on a 62 yard TD pass from Elijah Burrell.
The Tigers haven’t played a tough schedule and the X factor is the team speed of the Mustangs.

Sean Chambers has verbally committed to play for the Wyoming Cowboys

Sean Chambers will be fired up after verbally committing to play for the Wyoming Cowboys. Last week Kerman crushed Dos Palos 64-3. In 3 quarters, Sean rushed for 207 yards on 8 carries and scored 2 touchdowns on runs of 28 & 53 yards. Chris Acosta had an outstanding game as well by scoring 4 touchdowns on runs 22, 10, 77 & 14 yards.
The Red Tribe comes in losing to Los Banos 28-0.
The X factor is the Red Tribe offense because the Lions defense is good.
A win here for the Lions and the big North Sequoia league game will be on Oct 27 when they host Liberty Ranchos.

The Generals beat Arvin 55-35. QB Alex Aguilar had a career night by passing for 437 yards on 20 of 35 and had 4 touchdowns and ran for 132 yards on 15 carries and scored 3 touchdowns for 569 total yards and 7 TDs.
The X factor is the Generals defense and if they slow down the Wildcats run game, this one is over.
