One More Week For Diuba

One week. One more week till the test is given to not only Dinuba but to the Tulare Union as well. First, though, Dinuba must face Porterville, a team that in the past has given Dinuba some trouble.

The night started off with The Junior Varsity taking care of Porterville 13-0. The rushing attack was again lead by RB/S Devon Mendoza and RB Josh Meave, who both helped get the Emperors down the field. Devon Mendoza first scored on a little inside run to put the Emperors up 7-0 in the first quarter. Then, they did not score again until the 3rd quarter, where again Devon Mendoza got the ball and went to the house to put the Emperors up 13-0.

OPOTW: RB Devon Mendoza, had 2 touchdowns and 55-yard touchdown to the house to put them up 13-0

DPOTW: S James Southern, 5 deflections, and one interception

Then came the varsity squad, trying to improve their record to 4-0 as well. They started off the game receiving the ball and going down the field to eventually hand off the ball to HB Alek Marroquin for a 4-yard touchdown. Porterville then got the ball and went down the field but forgot to put the ball in the hands of somebody in orange, as CB Jacob Huerta picked it off and Dinuba got it at Porterville’s 7-yard line. A big run by HB Alek Marroquin then led to a touchdown by WR Jaime Ramirez (from QB Josh Magana). Later on, in the quarter, a fumble forced by CB Chris Garza led to a touchdown scored by FB Lucas Tuttle. The half then ended with a pass from Josh Magana to WR Jacob Rodriguez.

From then on it was all Dinuba, with Porterville not getting anything going on either side of the ball. Highlights of the second half included a punt return touchdown by CB Jacob Huerta and a 92-yard rushing touchdown by HB Josh Martinez, all happening in the 4th quarter. The leading passer of the game was QB Josh Magana with 135 passing yards and 2 touchdowns, while the leading rusher HB Josh Martinez had a 109 yards rushing and 1 touchdown.

This week will perhaps be their biggest challenge they will face all year, as they face 4-0 Tulare Union. The Tulare Union is ranked No 1. In Division 2 this year, and for a good reason. The defense has only allowed 28 points the whole entire year, and the offense is lead by HB Kazmeir Allen, a top 10 running back in California. It will definitely be a challenge for the Emperors Defense and Offense, but I believe they are up for it! Come watch at Bob Mathias Stadium (Tulare, California) at 5 for JV and 7 for Varsity! Hope to see you there! #beatTU
