It’s Homecoming Week At Madera South

Attention all Madera South students, parents, and supporters! One thing you definitely do not want to miss is Homecoming, which is on its way to the Stallion Storm and will be here October 6, 2017! Get ready to travel “All Around the World” with the Madera South Stallions! Congratulations and good luck to the King and Queen nominees, Daniel Daza, Jose Carranza, Abel Castellanos, Jose Figueroa, Emilee Sevilla, Karime Lopez-Avilez, Celeste Villafan, and Ashlee Garcia. Last Friday, September 22nd MSHS Football faced Fresno high and came out with a loss of 13-34. Following this, is a bye week allowing them to get situated and mentally prepared before their HOCO vs. San Joaquin Memorial, Friday, 10/6 at 7:30 PM.

Tuesday, September 26th, Water Polo faced Sanger High School. Girls Water Polo kept fighting and did a tremendous job ending with a score of 1-5. Boys’ Captain Samuel Garcia says the team was put up against Sanger, one of the hardest defenses’ they have played in a while and were not able to adjust to what they were doing ending with a score of 5-10. Next Water Polo will compete against SJM at a home game Thursday, September 28th. Next, will be their home game vs. MHS Tuesday, October 3rd at 3:30/4:30/5:30/6:30. Boys’ Captain Samuel says, “ We know SJM is the best in the league so we just hope to keep the score running low by playing the right defense. And by Tuesday we will bounce back by playing Madera High and winning for the first time in years. That’s how high our confidence rose for that game.”

Girls Tennis participated in the Grapevine Classic and did a fantastic job! All the Madera South participants had wins within every match and were focused on playing smarter while making the opponents play harder. Captain and #1 singles, Elisabeth “Tommy” Cervantes finished with some fantastic wins allowing her to receive a medal! Thursday, September 28th Girls Tennis will be playing a home match vs. Edison High School. Following this will be Senior Night for the Stallions on Tuesday, October 3rd vs. the Sanger Apaches!

Girls Volleyball played their first league match, home vs. Bullard on Tuesday, September 26th and loss their 3 sets. On the 3rd set, the Stallions were beginning to break through and compete more seriously with the Knights, but unfortunately, could not come out with a win. Thursday, September 28th the team will be playing at Edison High School. Then, the girls will have their next away league match vs. Sanger High School, Tuesday, October 3rd.

Girls Golf had their Senior Night Tuesday, September 26th at the MCC. In spite of finishing with a score of 0-6, the girls fought extremely hard, mostly taking their opponents to Hole 6. Two girls then continued to fight hard and do their best, finishing all the way at Hole 8!  Good Luck to our girls as they travel for a league match to San Joaquin Memorial Thursday, September 28th. Then they will be competing in a league match Tuesday, October 3rd at the MCC at 2:00 PM.

Friday, September 22nd, MSHS Cross Country raced in the Golden Eagle Cross Country Invitational. The girls used a tactic, referred to as pack running, to ensure the girls to stay on pace with one another and finish strongly as a team. Saturday, September 30th the XC team will be running in the Madera Invitational at Town and Country Park and hopes to see many supporters out to cheer them on.
