Central Vs De La Salle
It’s the game we have been waiting for. It’s the biggest game in years for Central High, and the valley, as the Grizzlies take on the Spartans of De La Salle. All eyes will be on this game this Saturday night. The Grizzlies are fired up for this game and are coming off of a very impressive win against Ridgeview with a 56-3 win.

The Grizzlies defense was clicking on slinders by shutting down the run game and passing game. Senior Outside Linebacker Jacob Ortiz had an outstanding game with 10 total tackles and 1 sack. An outstanding performance was also seen by senior Middle Linebacker Tre Walker and Jacob Hollins who both chipped in with a couple of tackles each.
The Grizzlies defense was not the only thing clicking on all cylinders; the Grizzlies offense was seemingly unstoppable putting up 35 points in just the first half. Junior QB Trent Tompkins had another outstanding performance throwing for 300 yards with 3 Touchdowns. Trent Tompkins deserves the highlighting as he looked phenomenal through his first 4 games; he has accounted for 12 TD and 950 passing yards. The 3 star QB has been off to a great start and only great work can be expected.
Along with Trent Tompkins, Senior RB Jevon Bigelow deserves highlighting with a great game against Ridgeview. He had 9 Carries for 101 yards and 3 Touchdowns. Central has scored 186 points in 4 games. The Grizzlies have been very impressive. I can confidently say they look like the best offense in the valley!
But Saturday Central will have their biggest test of the Season Playing 19th in the nation ranked De La Salle. This Grizzlies team will be put to the test with this De La Salle team. But don’t underlook the Central Grizzlies team. Coach Biggs will have them ready to go. This isn’t a cakewalk game for the Spartans either. This Grizzlies team has shown they are impressive and full of talent and dedication.

The red-hot Grizzlies offense will be lead by Junior QB Trent Tompkins who will give the Spartans problems with his arm and legs. The 3 star QB knows he is going up against one of the best Defenses in the state, but that will not faze the 3 star QB. Trent Tompkins knows all eyes will be on him. I predict Trent Tompkins having a big game this week. The Grizzlies have so many weapons that will give the Spartans defense challenges. Jevon Bigelow the 6’2” 195 pound RB will create many problems for De La Salle. He is a hard-nose runner and has very good speed with 5 Touchdowns and over 250 rushing yards this year. Jacob Torrez the 5’9” 160 pound WR who plays like Julian Edelman will also give problems to De La Salle with his speed and hands. Jacob Torrez is a very sneaky player, and he can create anywhere from a 5 yard to a 50 yard Touchdown. Avery Boyd the 6’0” 160 WR is a weapon to use in the RedZone. His size and strength Will be a key to get this Grizzlies offense going. But if Central is going to pull the upset, the question will be the defense. The 2 two outstanding Linebacker Tre Walker and Jacob Hollins will be ready to go, but can the young secondary stay with De La Salle passing attack? And can the Grizzlies cause pressure to De La Salle passing game?
We know Central will stop the running game but stopping the pass will be key for a upset. This is a big game for Central and the valley. The Grizzlies know scouts and the media will be watching and will be there. Fresno State also has a bye this week, I think it would be a good idea for this game to also be on Coach Tedford’s radar. Can Central pull an upset?I say they can. Everyone in the valley knows they can. Tune in Saturday Night at 7:00 PM as Central takes on De La Salle.
