All Things Madera South

The Stallion Storm is ready to be pumped up, excited, and motivating while cheering on our Madera South Football Team during their home game this Friday 9/22 vs. Fresno High at 7:30 PM! Just like every other Friday with a home game, Madera South Leadership will be encouraging all students and staff to participate in the Power Of Purple competition. All classes with everyone in the class, including teachers, wearing purple shirts will be rewarded with donuts! September 21st, our Football Team faced Golden West but came out with a loss of 0-61. The team has been working tremendously hard in hopes for a comeback vs. Fresno High School.

Cross Country ran at the Earlybird Invitational on 9/16, a race I ran two years ago, on a tremendously hard course with what feels like never-ending hills, unfortunately, last year this race was canceled due to wildfires. In the Freshmen Boys Race, Aaron Segura sped into 9th place with a time of 17:43. For the Soph. Boys Race came Francisco Macie in 10th place with a time of 17:29. In the Soph. Girls Race came to Adriana Miramontes in 15th place at 20:14. Junior Victor Ochoa placed 3rd in the Junior Boys race with a 16:04. For Junior Girls came Pela Jimenez in 28th place with a time of 21:11. XC captain, Seth Garcia did fantastic placing 3rd in the Senior Boys Race with a finish time of 15:51. In 6th place for the Senior Girls race came Girls Captain Veronica Ortega with a time of 19:21. Running in her 3rd Varsity Season for MSHS XC, Perla Jimenez says,” Our girls cross country team has been off to a rough start, but as season has been going on we have been working hard together as a team, while improving to reach our goal to become League Champions for the second season in a row. I see it happening with this year’s girls team because we have nothing but hard working ladies, I know we will go far this year.” Cross Country will be racing at Woodward Park this Friday, September 22nd.

Girls and Boys Water Polo faced Bullard High School September 19th at Madera South. The Girls Team finished with a loss of 4-10, and the Boys Team finished with a score of 7-14. Boys Captain, Samuel Garcia #8 says,” We knew Bullard was a good team and it was going to be tough, but a loss is a loss and we need to learn from our mistakes that game and move forward.” Both teams look to come back stronger and harder at their next game vs. the Edison Tigers Thursday, September 21st at Edison High School. Their next opponents will be the Sanger Apaches, away Tuesday, September 26th.

Girls Golf faced Sanger, Tuesday, September 19th, and showed fantastic sportsmanship and friendliness while having fun. Unfortunately, Sanger came out with the win but Girls Golf will be having their 9 Hole Tournament, Thursday, September 21st at the MCC. Good luck to all the girls!

Girls tennis went head to head with San Joaquin Memorial Tuesday, September 19th and finished with a score of 1-8. They fought tremendously hard while having the mindset of playing smarter as opposed to only trying to get the ball over the net. Thursday, September 21st, our Girls Tennis will be facing MHS at   3 PM! Following that will be the Grapevine Classic Friday, September 22nd hosted by MSHS. Go serve up the competition girls!

Volleyball will be hosting the Madera Freshmen/JV Classic this Saturday, September 23rd at 7:45 AM. Next, they will be facing Bullard on Tuesday, September 26th at 3:45/4:45/6:00 PM on our Stallion courts! Come out and support our Volleyball Girls!

Come out and encourage our Madera South Athletics!
