The Storm Continues In Week 2 At Madera South

What a week it has been for the Madera South Stallions! After long preparation, the NAACP rally was a success. There were over 3,000 people in Madera South’s West Gym and plenty of posters, balloons, and inspirational messages that were delivered. MSHS Leadership looks forward to making this rally just as amazing for years to come, along with the upcoming Fall Sports Rally.

Madera South Football came out with a 14-27 loss vs. Kerman High School, but is excited to come back stronger vs. Hoover High School for this year’s first home game, September 8th at 7:30 PM! Cross Country had a fantastic outcome at our local Dennis DeWitt race Saturday, September 2nd at Lions Town and Country Park. Co-Captains Seth Garcia and Adrian Alvarez came first for the Boys team with Seth running a time of 9:18, then Adrian at 9:56.8, and third came Alejandro Duran at 10:25.3. Girls also had some amazing times with Captain Veronica Ortega running an 11:11, then for MSHS came Dariana Miramontes at 12:07.8, and next Jaydah Aguilar at 12:13.1. As a former  MSHS XC runner, I understand the joy that must have come for runners after this meet due to it being the first race of the season and for running so well. Co-Captain Seth Garcia expresses his thoughts on the upcoming season by saying,” You know, I really think this season is going to be a tough one. We need to get a lot of guys up to a high standard we have with our program. I know they can do it, it is just a matter of how bad they want it. Other teams count us out, but they’ll be surprised when we kick butt. I know we can do it. It’s just a matter of heart and keeping guys healthy.” Madera South Boys Cross Country is currently working on the journey to win their 10th consecutive Valley Championship. Their next race will be at Kingsburg High September 9th, at 8:00 AM.

Girls Volleyball competed in the High Sierra Classic located in Reno, Nevada Aug 31-Sept 2. Their next opponent will be Golden West, away, September 7th at 4:30,5:30, and 6:45. Then September 14, they will be competing against Reedley High School on Stallion territory at 4:00, 5:15, and 6:30 PM, so come out and support!

Girls Water Polo faced Golden Valley High School and came out with a win of 12-10, September 5th. Boys were not so fortunate and came back with a loss, but hope to come back stronger with both Boys and Girls having their next game, home vs. Reedley High School September 7th at 3:30, 4:30, 5:30, and 6:30 PM. Girls Water Polo player, Berenize Tapia says, “On my next game I’m going to try to stay more on defense and help my teammates out by driving into the whole set.” Good Luck to Water Polo vs. Reedley!
