Exceptional Week For The Sanger Apaches

Sanger cross country had their first meet on Saturday at Madera. Assistant coach Catherine Waite said she learned that “we are going to be very competitive…analyzing the first meet showed us we’re in good shape.” She commented on how this team is very fun and has an impressive work ethic, despite a large number of people new to racing and still getting comfortable. The athletes displayed their dedication this week with lots of great times. Of the freshmen, Kaley Cardenas, Alondra Huerta, Roberto De Loera, and Adrian Cuellar were in the top 10. Juniors Toni Payton and Juan Gonzalez came in their top 10, followed closely by Fabian Barrera. Seniors have a very promising group with Mohamed Saleh, Eddie Robles, Clarissa Luna, Jimena Ruvalcaba all ranked in the top 10 this weekend, along with promising performances from Maria Lopez and Juan De Santiago. Cross country has their next meet on Friday the 15th at Avocado Lake for the Sanger Invitational.
