Clovis East football came into their game Friday with a ton of confidence in their identity as a team. It definitely showed in the first quarter again the Redwood Rangers, when they led 14-7. Touchdowns by Romello Knight and Gerard Mendez gave the Timberwolves their early lead. However, the Ranger offense woke up scoring 29 unanswered points. Tough loss for the Wolfpack, and the road is going to just get tougher as the T-Wolves welcome the Sanger Apaches into Lamonia Stadium on Thursday night. The Apaches are a very good team and have dominated the Timberwolves over the past few years. Will the T-Wolves be able to tough it out and pull off a major upset? Pag Meter says no, placing the Wolfpack as 28 point underdogs. There will many in attendance Thursday, as it is Staff/Military Appreciation Night, to witness and see for themselves. Kick-off is set to happen at 7:00.
Boys and Girls Water Polo were in action last week and early this week. Ladies first. Last Thursday, the Lady Wolfpack took on the Porterville Panthers. Scoring early and fast, only a few minutes into the game there were goals being scored by the T-Wolves. And they held onto their lead throughout the whole game and winning 13-7. This brought their record to 4-0. Wednesday. They welcomed the Cougars from Clovis High in their first TRAC game of the season. A very aggressive and intense atmosphere and goals were at a minimum. The T-Wolves were tied with the Cougars 2-2 at the half and things were looking good after falling behind 2-0 early in the game. But the Cougars found a second wind and never looked back. The Lady Timberwolves just could not answer back. The Cougars ended up taking the game 7-3, giving the T-Wolves their first loss of the season.
Ending with Girls Volleyball. Having only one game this past week, it was a tough one. The Lady Timberwolves traveled to Bakersfield to take on the Frontier Titans. The Wolfpack took the first set, but then dropped three straight sets. Very disappointing in a game they should have won. However, with TRAC play right around the corner, rather get it out now than later.
