Dinuba Is The Real Deal

Week 2 is usually a week where teams now can see if they are the real deal. Some say week one is just a week where it can just be a hot or lucky start. If the following is true, then Dinuba is the real deal.

The opening of the turf for Dinuba was a successful one, as FROSH, JV and Varsity all shut out their opponents. The victories started with the Frosh team, as they defeated Reedley 28-0. They did not get to play on the new turf sadly since they had to play in Dinuba last year.

The Junior Varsity team was lead by Quarterback Julio Montalvo, as he had 2 passing touchdowns against Reedley. (One to WR Rey Reyes & one to WR Gabriel Moreno ) There was also a punt return touchdown scored by S/LB Devon Mendoza and an interception for a touchdown by CB Mark Tio Annen. The final score:47-0.

OPOTW: QB Julio Montalvo, threw for 2 touchdowns to 2 different receivers.

DPOTW: CB Mark Tio Annen, locked down his end on defense and also had an interception for a touchdown.

Then comes the Varsity team, with a huge weight on their backs with the new turf and the home opener for the new season. They absolutely dominated, the final score being 50-0. QB Josh Magana threw for 108 yards and 2 touchdowns. The leading rusher on the team was Josh Martinez, as he had 112 yards rushing and 1 touchdown. The defense also had an amazing game the team got 5 sacks and forced two fumbles.

OPOTW- QB Josh Magana,  Went 9/16, threw for 108 yards and 2 touchdowns.

DPOTW- DE Ray Alvarado, had 2 sacks and 2 tackles.

Dinuba has a bye week this week, but their next game will be played against El Diamante at Gropetti Automotive Stadium in Visalia at 7:30 pm on September 15.

Here is my Player of the game, Quarterback Joshua Magana. Watch out for his name this season, as he may be a name you may hear as the MVP of the Valley Championship game if they make the venture.
