The CIF and Pag Meter were a tad off in this division. The Pag Meter had Dinuba at the No 4 seed because they beat Reedley.

No 1 Independence Falcons (22-7) (13-2 SYL Champions) Section Champions
  • Beat Kerman 11-5. WP Jessica Munoz  and went 4-5, 2 RBI’s. Aariyana Egan 3-5, 2RBI’s. Nicole Price, 2-5, RBI. Ashley Mick, 2-4, 2RBI’s. Cindy Sanchez, 3-4.  Lydia Vasquez 2RBI’s. 
  • The Team to beat and one of the best hitting teams in the valley with a .398 team average. Leading the way are sophomores Ashley Mick, Cindy Sanchez and junior Arianna Egan
No 2 Kerman Lions (16-15) (5-5 NSL)
  • Lost to Independence in the championship 11-5
  • Beat Taft 14-10 in the semifinals in 10 innings. Cynthia Montalvo, Home Run, double. Alyssa Acosta, 2 doubles, 2 RBI’s.

No 3 Tehachapi Warriors (23-6) (13-2 SYL)

  • Senior Mariah Godde (.536, 15 doubles, 5 HR’s, 17 RBIs)  and junior Erin Askins (.538, 12 doubles, 4 HR’s, 26 RBI’s) leads the Warriors.
No 4 Taft Wildcats (20-9) (11-1 Co-S Sequoia Champions)
  • Senior Roslyn Maino will be the ace and one of the best hitters in the valley returns with senior Olivia Ortlieb (.611,, 14 doubles, 5 triples, 2 HR’s 29 RBI’s)
No 5 Hanford Bullpups (15-13) (7-5 WYL)
  • Plenty return and will have a new pitcher with Sophomore Emily Juarez
No 6 Dinuba Emperors (16-11) (6-4 CSL)
  • The Emperors will be good this year with sophomore ace Kristen Martinez and power hitter junior Alexa Garcia
No 7 Reedley Pirates (18-10) (10-0 NYL Champions)
  • NYL Champions.
 
No 8 Liberty Ranchos Hawks (12-14) (9-1 NSL Champions)
  • The defending NSL champions are always tough
 
No 9 Porterville Panthers (10-11) (3-7 EYL) 
  • The Panthers will be young in spots and leading the way will be junior Anissa Gomez.
No 10 Golden Valley Bulldogs (11-17) (3-12 SYL) 
  • Senior ace Julianna Martinez (1.42 ERA in 142 innings) is back. The X factor is scoring runs.
No 11 Sunnyside Wildcats (10-15) (5-5 NYL)
  • Seniors Jocelyn Simon and Alex Snyder lead the Wildcats.
No 12 Chavez Titans (11-13-1) (3-9 S Sequoia) 
  • Junior Tiffany Martinez leads the Titans in the circle and at the plate.
No 13 Hoover Patriots (2-14) (0-10 NYL) 
  • Very young in 2017

Hanford Bullpups 7 Independence Falcons 3

  • Bullpups win their 5th Section championship in school history and the 1st softball title in 29 years.
  • WP Anyssa Garvin, 5 K’s.
  • Seniors Mackenzie Jacobsen, Serenity Castro, Breanne Tabarez, Anyssa Garvin and Taylor Jacobsen lead the Bullpups.
