PAGMETER Week 4 Football – 2016

**Big breaking news**
- Not good times in Broncos nation
- 4 starting Dos Palos Broncos football players were arrested for hazing. It’s a very serious misconduct and if anybody tried to cover it up, this story will only get uglier. Stay tuned!
The Pag Meter went 39-7 in week 3 and for the year 129-22 (85%)
**The Shocker of the night in week 3 was Central beating up Liberty but after watching the game film, it wasn’t much of a shock.
**Some other misses…I missed on Kerman again. I picked Kerman to beat Coalinga and the Horned Toads rolled the Lions.
*Stockdale with a big win on the road over Atascadero
*Highland is now 3-0 after beating Kennedy
*Sierra Chieftains are now 2-0 with a big win over Fowler
*Redwood wins in a shootout over Tulare Union
The Dog House Grill Player of the week for week 3
QB BRENT BAILEY, CLOVIS NORTH
- in the win over Buhach Colony , Brent went 16-of-22 passing for 286 yards, with 2 TD passes and rushed for 87 yards and scored a TD
Thursday Night Football
Finals
- Porterville (1-2) at Hanford (2-2)
- Pag Meter Line Hanford -16
- The Bullpups are starting to figure it especially with RB Jordan Perryman who rushed for 191 yards and scored 2 touchdowns on only 7 carries in the win over Madera. The Panthers lost to Taft and the defense struggled.
- The X factor is the Panthers defense and can they slow down the Bullpups? The Hanford offensive line is so improved!
- Pag Meter Prediction Hanford 36 Porterville 20
- Final Hanford 40 Porterville 22
- Washington Union (1-3) vs Roosevelt (0-4)
- Pag Meter Line Washington Union -4
- The Panthers are a good football team that has played a tough schedule and the Rough Riders are short handed without their QB Jordan De La Rosa who has to sit out because of the 30 day rule.
- The X factor is somebody is getting their 1st win and I think it will be WU
- Pag Meter Prediction Washington Union 27 Roosevelt 23
- Final Washington Union 29 Roosevelt 28 OT
- Chaminade (3-1) vs Bakersfield (2-1)
- Pag Meter Line Chaminade -7
- The Drillers season starts on Thursday because the 2 games they have played were against real crappy teams. This is going to be the big test for the Drillers playing a state power. The Drillers first two games have been against teams that had never seen or had zero clue of how to defend the triple option. The Drillers schedule was absolutely beautiful in doing that. They did the opposite of Edison because Edison and Bakersfield were supposed to play each other in week 1 but instead Bakersfield decided to ask Edison…”hey would it be ok instead of playing each other at Ratcliffe in Fresno, can we each play another team in the under armor classic in Ventura”?
- Edison said yes (Huge Edison Mistake) and the Tigers had to play a private professional team from Phoenix, Brophy Prep and the Drillers got to play a horrible Pleasant Grove team. High school is about MOJO and Edison lost it and Bakersfield has it.
- I’m thinking Chaminade will be ready. Both teams will have plenty of speed but Chaminade isn’t Pleasant grove and I’m thinking they will have a clue on defense. Chaminade runs an offense that is up-tempo and the Drillers like to play man to man in your face defense. There could be quick TD’s on TD passes and/or INT returns for the Drillers? If the Drillers can run the ball without turnovers then they win. The Drillers can’t get into many 3rd and longs.
- The X factor is the Drillers defense and can they slow down the small private professional teams offense? And can the Drillers offense roll?
- This would be a huge win for the Drillers and our valley!
- Pag Meter Prediction Chaminade 38 Bakersfield 31
- Final Chaminade 28 Bakersfield 20
Friday Night Lights Finals
- Buchanan (3-1) at Liberty (3-1)
- Pag Meter Line Liberty -7
- This should be a real good matchup. The Bears are playing the perfect schedule so far.
- In week 1 and against Hanford, the Bullpups QB Ryan Johnson went down on the 4th play….game over….Bears roll.
- In week 2 and vs Bullard, the Knights are full of injuries and it was over at halftime….Bears roll.
- In week 3 and against a not very good Lemoore team….game over at the coin flip…Bears roll.
- Make no mistake, the Bears are big and powerful. These are not the old Gummy Bears. These Bears are big and physical and love to hit!
- For Liberty the defending valley champions, they laid an egg in the crushing loss to Central 38-0.
- Can the Patriots play a good game and challenge the Bears? This one is a tough call and I can’t imagine the Patriots not showing up again at home.
- The X factor is the Bears defense against the outstanding wide receivers of Patriots with Johnny Balderas and Kobe Alvarez. The Pates have to get Balderas involved early in the offense. The QB’s will be a battle with Bears Nolan Leforge vs Pates Bryson Faulconer. This game will also be won or loss at the line of scrimmage with two physical teams getting after it. This could be a playoff preview.
- Pag Meter Prediction Liberty 27 Buchanan 21
- Final Liberty 35 Buchanan 14
- Johnny Balderas returned a kickoff 90 yards for a TD. Liberty soph QB Isaiah Hill filled in at QB and did a nice job. The Patriots won the line of scrimmage battle
- Centennial (1-3) vs Bullard (2-2)
- Pag Meter Line Bullard -21
- For the Golden Hawks they are getting number 2 back, their best player Cole Beaty. He is the playmaker that the G Hawks need right now. The Knights will know what that’s like getting their top player back. Linebacker Ben Baker was out in the loss to Buchanan and the Knights were horrible without him.
- The X factor is the Knights team and can they get fired up after playing No 1 Clovis toe to toe. The Knights are a team that sometimes mentality doesn’t show up. They sure did show up
- Pag Meter Prediction Bullard 35 Centennial 14
- Final Bullard 35 Centennial 7
- A star is born. Soph running back Marcus Fulcher scored 3 touchdowns, including a 45 yard run and caught a 18 yard TD from Jack Taylor. The defense held the Golden Hawks to 104 total yards.
- Caruthers (3-0) at Sierra (2-1)
- Pag Meter Line Sierra -2
- This is the division 5 game of the week. Both teams can flat run the ball and control the line of scrimmage. The Blue Raiders have Alex Puga who has rushed for 385 yards in 2 games vs Shane Maldonado for Sierra who is on fire rushing for 269 yards.
- The X factor is Caruthers has played a division 6 type schedule so their season starts this week. How good are the Blue Raiders? We will find out.
- Pag Meter Prediction Sierra 31 Caruthers 30
- It’s official , the Blue Raiders are good! RB Alex Puga rushed for 254 yards and scored 2 TD’s.
- Frontier (1-3) at Central (3-1)
- Pag Meter Line Central -25
- The Titans get to play the hottest team on turf. The Titans have to hope that Central has a hangover from last week’s beatdown of Liberty and next week they play at Ridgeview. This is the best time to play Central but Central is real good on their turf.
- Central sophomore QB Trent Tompkins has learned quickly to throw the ball as far as he can and let the receivers run for it. It seems to be working with 8 TD passes the last two games. The Grizzlies don’t have a fancy offense…they line up and either run right at you or go deep. Go luck at stopping that! Titans QB Greg Youngblood suffered a concussion and should be back this week. Greg better think of short passes because Central’s defense is man to man and in your face with pressure coming.
- The X factor is if the Grizzlies start fast this game will be a blow out. The Titans need long drives….with 1st downs. A bunch of three and outs and it will be an ugly bus ride home.
- Pag Meter Prediction Central 45 Frontier 20
- Final Central 59 Frontier 17
- This game turn out to be man vs boys. The Grizzlies are red hot.
- Sophomore Trent Tompkins completed 15 of 19 passes for 170 yards and 2 touchdown passes. Jaylon Johnson returned an interception 45 yards for a touchdown and the Grizzlies rolled on homecoming night.
- Chowchilla (3-0) at Central Valley Christian (2-2)
- Pag Meter Line Chowchilla -11
- The X factor is can CVC be physical with the Redskins? Chowchilla has yet to have a team reach the end zone. CVC should score but do they have enough at home for the upset? They almost pulled it off
- Pag Meter Prediction Chowchilla 35 CVC 24
- Final Chowchilla 42 CVC 35
- Ronnie Reyes rushed for 4 touchdowns, including a 1-yarder and the game winner in the 4th quarter.
- Reyes finished with a game-high 195 yards rushing on 19 carries, and Asa Shields rushed for 152 yards on 11 carries. Chowchilla totaled 480 rushing yards. CVC QB JJ Lino was 17 for 28 with 349 yards passing with 3 touchdown passes.
- Clovis (4-0) at Stockdale (3-1)
- Pag Meter Line Clovis -2
- The game of the night.
- The Cougars are averaging 35 points per game and the Mustangs are giving up only 13 points per game. Something has to give!
- Clovis comes off a big win over Bullard and Stockdale with a huge win on the road over Atascadero.
- The X factor is the big matchup of the Clovis offense vs the Mustangs defense. Can Stockdale pull off another big win? Can Cougars QB Trey Lake lead the No 1 Cougars on the road? How good is Stockdale? It was all yes!
- Clovis 30 Stockdale 28
- Final Clovis 28 Stockdale 27
- The Mustangs went for two and the win but the Cougars defense came up huge on the road. QB Trey Lake and Tyson Fraser connected for 3 2nd-half touchdown passes. Lake finished 18 of 30 for 338 yards. WR Tyson Fraser had 189 receiving yards.
- Edison (0-4) vs Clovis North (3-1)
- Broadcasted on 790 ESPN the deuce
- Pag Meter Line Clovis North -3
- The Tigers have a very tough schedule and it’s been too much for a young team. They are not an 0-3 team. The Tigers have plenty of talent but are struggling with turnovers and when they get to the red zone they fall apart. The Tigers are not getting any QB play until Jimmy Gray stepped up to the plate. Jimmy Gray did a nice job stepping in at QB scoring on a 1-yard TD and throwing a 73-yard touchdown pass to Teyjohn Harrington in the loss to CW 26-20. Gray has never played QB before and he will only get better. Edison still needs QB Adrian Galarza to step up but he has to focus on football 100 % of the time. Galarza has the arm that Edison needs. The Pag Meter called it that Broncos QB Brent Bailey would have a breakout game and he sure did in the win over Buhach Colony 56-29. Bailey completed 16-of-22 passes for 286 yards, and 2 TD passes, plus he rushed for 87 yards and scored a TD.
- The X factor in this game has to be how will the Tigers handle the offense? CW came out and played cover zero against the Tiger receivers and the only other team to do that against the Tigers were the Drillers. It worked because the Tigers didn’t do anything about it in the loss to CW. This will be a good matchup of the hot Broncos offense vs the Tigers defense.
- I have said it so far every game but the only team that can beat Edison is the Tigers. Yep, it happened again.
- Side note-Broncos, Noah Haupt, is back out playing football. Apparently he couldn’t stand watching from the stands any longer. Haupt was a very physical LB/FB but lost the desire to play football. He should be ready in a couple of weeks.
- The Tigers can win this game if they don’t turn the ball over.
- Pag Meter Prediction Clovis North 30 Edison 27
- Final Clovis North 27 Edison 21
- Broncos QB Brent Bailey was a man beast scoring 3 TD’s including a huge 66 yard run. Brent also threw a nice 38 yard TD pass to Chad Fugman. Tigers RB Jaylan King had his best game
- finished with 19 carries for 126 yards, including touchdown runs from 1 and 45 yards.
- Fresno High (2-1) at El Capitan-Merced (1-3)
- Pag Meter Line Fresno High -17
- The X factor is the El Capitan defense and can they hang with the fast and high powered Warriors offense? WR/QB Khory Day is so dangerous and now you have red hot QB Nick Southern.
- Pag Meter Prediction Fresno High 34 El Capitan 17
- Final Fresno High 19 El Capitan 10
- Fresno High’s Lee Major scored on a rushing TD, caught a TD, a caused fumble and picked off a pass.
- Los Banos (3-1) at Dos Palos (2-1)
- Pag Meter Line Los Banos -10
- A true old fashion westside battle.
- The X factor is the speed of the Tigers vs the power of the Broncos.
- A late X factor for the Broncos is that 3 starting players were arrested for hazing. This has to disrupt a team right before the big westside game. The Broncos had a chance to win at home but I can’t see that happening.
- Pag Meter Prediction Los Banos 33 Dos Palos 23
- Final Los Banos 28 Dos Palos 24
- Mason Leao rushed for 2 touchdowns for the Bears and give big credit to the Broncos because of what they have been through all week to play this good is flat out amazing!!!
- Madera (0-4) vs Merced (3-1)
- Pag Meter Line Merced -21
- The Coyotes are doing a nice job on offense with moving the ball with long drives but the end zone is like kryptonite because the Coyotes fall apart when they get close.
- The X factor is the Madera defense and can they slow down the Bears on the turf? It’s going to be tough to do.
- Pag Meter Prediction Merced 42 Madera 21
- Final Merced 54 Madera 27
- The Bears scored on 5 of its first 6 possessions, totaling 262 yards. Sophomore Dhameer Warren, threw for 222 yards in the half and Coyotes defense got run over again.
- Kerman (2-2) at Kennedy (2-2)
- Pag Meter Line Kerman -3
- It’s the underachievers (Lions) vs the overachievers (Thunderbirds)
- There is no question that the Lions should win by at least 3 touchdowns but I doubt that will happen.
- The Lions are by far the strangest team to figure out. They have the talent to win it all but something might be taking it’s toll. The Lions are getting worn down in the 2nd half of games because of so many factors. You can name any reason for it and you wouldn’t be wrong.
- The Thunderbirds come in as back to back division 6 champions and play physical football and that’s why they are so good is because they play tough for 48 minutes. Nothing fancy but getting after it.
- The X factor is this will be the best QB (Sean Chambers) that the Thunderbirds will see all year and can they contain him? Can Kennedy copy what Selma and Coalinga did to Kerman’s offense when they crushed the Lions? If the Thunderbirds can, then they win because the Lions have no plan B. Selma and Coalinga put pressure on Chambers and would not let him out on the edge.
- I am 0-3 with Kerman so the Lions should win this game. Right?
- In week 1, I picked Kerman and Selma crushed them. Week 2, I picked Madera South and Kerman won. Week 3, I picked Kerman and Coalinga beat them like a narc in a biker rally.
- Half my brain say Kerman wins 42-24. The other half say Kennedy in a close game. …But I got to take the division 4 team over division 6
- Pag Meter Prediction Kerman 31 Kennedy 28
- Final Kerman 55 Kennedy 28
- The Pag Meter finally got it right in picking the Lions. QB Sean Chambers scored 2 TD and threw for 3 TD’s. Lions senior leader Mason had a night with 2 TD catches and he returned a INT 105 yards and a TD. It was the longest return in school history.
- Redwood (4-0) vs Tulare Western (2-1)
- Pag Meter Line Tulare Western -3
- TW has been waiting for 2 weeks for this big game and Redwood is coming off a big win over Tulare Union.
- The BIG X factor is the Rangers offense vs the Mustangs defense. Redwood beat TU in a shootout but TU defense is not the best…the Mustangs defense is much better. There should be a big crowd for this one and this should be a really good game!
- Pag Meter Prediction Tulare Western 31 Redwood 28
- Final Redwood 27 Tulare Western 26
- Frankie Ayon threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Kobe Garner with 24 seconds left and the game winner in a great game!
- Ayon finished with 218 yards passing.
- Tulare Western’s Andre Aguilar threw for 241 yards and rushed for 50 yards, and David Alcantar rushed for 70 yards and caught 9 passes for 119 yards.
- Lemoore (0-4) at Sanger (4-0)
- Pag Meter Line Sanger -39
- The X factor is the Apaches offense will steamroll the Tigers. Can the Tigers offense do anything against a very good Apaches defense?
- Pag Meter Prediction Sanger 54 Lemoore 13
- Final Sanger 55 Lemoore 14
- The Apaches cruhed the Tigers. The Pag Meter almost nailed the score
- Clovis West (2-2) at Rocklin (3-1)
- Pag Meter Line Rocklin -2
- The Golden Eagles travel to play a very good and young team.
- The X factor is can the Golden Eagles run the football? If they can’t they lose.
- CW has to play the perfect game on the road to win.
- Pag Meter Prediction Rocklin 26 Clovis West 24
- Final Rocklin 28 Clovis West 27
- The Thunder scored the game winner with 20 seconds and the game winner.
- Sunnyside (2-2) vs Clovis East (0-4)
- Pag Meter Line Sunnyside -28
- The Wildcats are very streaky. If they jump out early….this game is over.
- The X factor is this is the last game on the T Wolves schedule that they can win but it doesn’t look good because the T Wolves defense can’t tackle. If the Wildcats start fast, this game is over!
- Pag Meter Prediction Sunnyside 41 Clovis East 13
- Final Sunnyside 50 Clovis East 0
- El Diamante (2-2) at Dinuba (2-1)
- Pag Meter Line Dinuba -3
- The Miners come in playing good defense and the Emperors come off a bye. The Emperors also have a good defense.
- The X factor is the Miners defense vs the outstanding Dinuba offense and QB Gustavo Villarreal. Dinuba will pack the stadium for this big game.
- Pag Meter Prediction Dinuba 24 El Diamante 21
- Final El Diamante 25 Dinuba 24
- Andrew Valdez ran for a 4-yard touchdown midway through the 4th quarter and the Miners get a big win on the road. Emperors Luis Colunga rushed for 136 yards
- Exeter (3-1) at Taft (3-1)
- Pag Meter Line Exeter -5
- This will be a very good game.
- The X factor is the Taft speedy offense vs the front 7 of the Monarchs. The big difference could be how will the Wildcats defense try to slow down the Monarchs offense with QB Skylar Millar and running back Anthony Torres? Taft is a very good team when Running backs Robert Cozine and Setefano Maui are running wild.
- Pag Meter Prediction Exeter 33 Taft 28
- Final Taft 70 Exeter 35
- Robert Cozine had a near record-setting performance for the Wildcats on Friday night.

- Pag Meter Prediction Firebaugh 36 Riverdale 19
- Final Firebaugh 30 Riverdale 6
- Golden West (3-0) vs Madera South (2-2)
- Pag Meter Line Madera South -3
- GW is off to a great 2-0 start and coming off a bye. MS beat up Hoover.
- The X factor can GW slow down QB Jonah Johnson? He’s one of the best. The Stallions need to win because their only win in the CMAC might be against Madera in week 11. MS defense is not good and if GW Wing T gets going…GW will win.
- Pag Meter Prediction Madera South 34 Golden West 31
- Final Golden West 52 Madera South 35
- Gonzalo Rodriguez rushed for 215 yards and GW ran all over MS defense.

- San Joaquin Memorial (3-1) at Garces (3-1)
- Pag Meter Line Garces -15
- This will be the big test for the Panthers. The Rams have played some very good teams and Memorial has not as of yet. Both teams will contend for a section Championship. Garces is in D2 and SJM is in D3 and they should both be in the same division. Both teams have very good QB’s with Michael Alvarez from the Panthers and Conor Bruce for the Rams.
- The X factor is the defense. Both offenses are real good. SJM has to run the ball with red hot RB Dashawn Holliman who scored 5 TD’s and rushed for 154 yards on 16 carries in the win over Hanford West. The Rams also can run the ball besides a great passing attack with Isaiah Martin who rushed for 110 yards and scored 2 TD’s on 21 carries in the win over Tehachapi. The Holy bowl should be a good one. The Pag Meter will be there!
